For two years of having my seasonal hvac check and clean I've been told my run/start capacitor was going bad, with a price around $300 to replace it- hah! My system was around 20 years old, no way! I finally looked it up on youtube--how stupidly easy! I took off the panel of the outside system, wrote down the numbers on the old cap and looked for a replacement. While there were even cheaper round capacitors, I wanted to stick with what was there so I didn't have to find a new hold down strap. The shut off is right out there with the unit- for mine I only need to take out the fusebox. I actually shut down the power at the main switch as well, cause I don't take any chance. Discharge the capacitor by laying the metal of a rubberized screwdriver across all terminals before taking the wires off.I took a picture of the wiring, but you can write down the three terminals or look up online.Easy as can be- for $18.

Same quality as what I have, I’ll keep this on hand as a spare part for my home AC unit

Received the item and it was defective
I received the item and installed it. The fan on my central air was still not coming on. Had all the the wiring checked and the wiring was good. I was trying to figure out what was the issue was and finally checked the capacitor and the capacitor had no reading. It was defective. But by this time the return policy had expired by a couple of days and they didn't want to replace it or give me my money back.. Love throwing my money away.
