How long is a gallon solution effective after making it? Does all of it need to be used immediately?

Various factors affect a quats type sanitizing solution, including but not limited to : Water hardness, soil within the solution, etc. Generally speaking, use a sanitizing strip every 2 days to check its effectiveness. In a professional environment (i.e. restaurant/catering kitchens) quats sanitizers should be made fresh daily for bottles, and refreshed every 2 to 4 hours in a third bay sanitizing sink.

Can it air-dry or should it be wiped off surfaces?

It can air dry. It does not need to be wiped off. This multipurpose household cleaning solution is strong enough for commercial use and yet gentle enough for household applications to sanitize your cutlery, cutting boards, dishes and more. Just be careful not to breathe in the solution if you make a spray, and don't get any of the solution into your eyes. Steramine sanitizing tablets do not irritate the skin and it's fine to use on food equipment. The tablets turn the water blue so that everyone knows it's not drinking water. Mix one tablet with a gallon of water and use in the bathroom or kitchen. Spray on knives and butchering equipment, and cutting boards, sinks, counter tops, and all other
non-porous articles and surfaces. In commercial settings employees dip utensils and dishes as a final rinse. They dip the items in the solution for a minute, and dry. It's for this reason that scouts love Steramine for camping.

Can steramine be used with paper towels to make disinfectant wipes?  at what concentration?  leave on for at least 60 seconds?

We used to use this in a commercial kitchen in a spray bottle mixed 1 tablet to 1/2 gallon of water, 3 tablets to a 3rd rinse sink and in the dunk and let dry on a rack, the dishes were food safe without a rinse and the counters and other food prep area's we sprayed it on and after spraying the table, etc. just wipe dry right after.  It says on the label that it will kill aid's virus and mersa when mixed as directed.  I have been mixing a tablet with a standard sink dishpan and dipping everything I bring home from the grocery store, no-rinse. Be Safe!
