Will break your game (fixed)
Love FE. Love this entry in the series, but I bought the DLC and now the game crashes upon starting. Searching online, it seems like a recent issue related to the DLC that has come up. That means you shouldn't buy the DLC right now, wait until after they patch this error. Edit: Lastest system update fixed it. So all good.

Great addition to 3H DLC
Great DLC pack that adds a new side-story including maps that are way more challenging than a lot of what the main game has to offer, even on maddening, as well as 4 new units and classes that are each unique in a variety of ways. There are even add-ons that affect the main game as well, including items and shops that are available after playing through the side-story.

Great Game
This is really fun game and if you like the FE series you will like this game. Three houses is very different from previous FE games but it allows more character flexibility and 4 different story lines.

Stay Away Until You've Beat the Main Game
The Cindered Shadows DLC adds a fifth storyline to the Three Houses game. This storyline does not integrate into the other storylines: rather, it is selected independently from the main menu and is actually an alternative take on White Clouds (whereas all other storylines diverge AFTER White Clouds). Upon beating Cindered Shadows, the DLC characters will be integrated into future playthroughs of the main storyline, but your interaction with them will be completely different from how they were in Cindered Shadows. I actually did not like this DLC, mostly because I feel that it undermines the complexity of the main storyline. One of the key things for you to determine in Three Houses is whether the Church of Seiros is, overall, a force for good or for evil. The Cindered Shadows storyline is heavily biased in favor of an anti-church ideology, presenting the church as consistently intolerant and oppressive, so much so that it retroactively reduces the nuance of the main story. It does not line up with the complex narrative we see in the main game, where the church is shown to be the cultural heart of Fodlan, but Rhea continues to bouce between extreme compassion + tolerance (atheists, orphans, destitutes, drunkards, and others are in her employ, and are never belittled or ostracized) and anger-fueled tyranny. What's more, the level design and new characters are all kinda meh. I would not play or even download this DLC until you've explored everything the base game has to offer, as it may dramatically alter your impression of the other storylines.

600 hours of playtime speaks for its self
The headline pretty much says it. Sure, at least 400 of those hours is just the base game, but many of the DLCs added some really nice extras. If you enjoyed the game, I say go for it.

It is good but
It would be nice if it didn't deviate from the main storyline

Adds Meaningful Content
Some DLCs really don't add much value relative to their cost, or they are sparse on content. This Fire Emblem DLC is neither. My wife and I had been enjoying the main game a great deal, and so I decided to get this DLC for us. We have *NOT* been disappointed. Not only does it provide a comprehensive side story with interesting new characters, but the characters appear in and augment the main game as well. Highly recommend both Fire Emblem 3H and this DLC.

I LOVE this game series. Now I have more content to keep my brain distracted.
