I was really excited to get this book because I am actively improving my wilderness survival skills. It arrived soon and I read it in just a few days. It is straight forward, simple to read, and even reads as if Bear Grylls himself is talking to the reader. I like that. I already put to use some of the info in fire building and eating raw live crickets and grasshoppers. Bear gives ample warnings and cautions about eating certain things raw. The information in this book is usefull around the world in all different climates and geographies. It is an EXCELLENT book that is very useful to quickly gain knowledge about what to eat in the wilderness.

It IS extreme...
Well, I hope I never have to find/catch/eat some of the stuff in the book, but it's nice to know I might be able to if I had to...I guess. Well written and funny when it needs to be and serious when it has to be. How can you not like Bear Grylls?

For everyone who wants to be prepared.
This book just doesn't tell you what to eat, but how to get it, clean it, cook it and save it if possible. And explains different knots and ways to be better prepared for what can come your way in the wild. An absolute must have with very valuable knowledge.

A feasting menu fit for any apocalyptic event.
I just love this book. For too long I've been ignorant of survival dining, not so much as a result of an apprehension about trying out some of the , albeit, more unorthodox fare on offer in the wild, but because of not more fully exploring and experiencing such a diverse menu and skill set as is freely available in my own environment. I may never find myself in an authentic survival situation but the knowledge within this book would, without doubt, give me much more confidence in my ability to survive should I ever be so unfortunate. Having watched practically every programme that Bear has produced about survival I won't deny that the prospect of having to consider some of his culinary choices as a means to ensuring life saving certainty somewhat off putting. That said, Extreme Food, has, to a greater degree, emboldened my survivalist instincts while at the same time lessening the propensity to exclude less appetising sustenance. As the old saying goes "needs must when the devil drives", so it should be said that needs must for the will to survive which this knowledgeable tome promotes at the turn of every page. Would recommend this book to any new/long term prepper and experienced survivalist.

Not just raw bugs!
An enjoyable and informative read. I was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of useful information on wild food far beyond the expected creepy crawlies and elephant dung! This is not a general bush craft/survival guide and it doesn't claim to be. It has certainly become a welcome addition to my "outdoors" collection. Bon appetit.

If you like Bear Grylls or survival books, you should pick this up.
Very informative and disgusting in places, but what else would you expect from Bear Grylls?I can actually imagine how some of the information may help, not only in a life and death situation but also whilst camping, walking or even on a picnic!
