Work great
My ER4Ps are over a decade old. Rarely do I need to change filters, but my spouse borrowed my headphones and completely clogged one side, given that there was no sound. It almost seemed like the channel went bad, but the test is removing the old filter and listening for sound. If you still have the case that came with your headphones, you may have the tool already. I see on their website you can buy just the filters, but purchasing here with the tool was more convenient for me. They sound much better, as I had been listening with partial attenuation for some time. Parts look authentic. If you channel is actually bad, you can send your headphones to Etymotic Research for repair. I did that once years ago, and it was something like 50.

Not sure if they are worth it...
The replacement process was easy. My ER3X sound the same as before. I keep my ear canals clean so I suppose the filters weren't needing replacing.

a great tool and replacement filter pack
I've had my etymotic er4-ps for .... probably older than my teenage son in college. I bought them when I had my 3rd gen iPod. Since then I've replaced countless filters and flanges, and only once the cable. These things have traveled the world with me, and while I've moved on mostly to other IEMs, these still come out every now and then, and I'm still blown awa by their sound. This is a great tool to store and remove the filters since I've long ago lost the originals. I like the fact its bigger, and more of a pen size vs my original ones that were smaller and obviously lost throughout the years.

Too expensive
I appreciate that etymotic has removable filters, but I don't understand why they don't sell a pack without the tool. I use my IEMs at work for ear protection/music and they get dusty quickly as a result. I'd like to change my filters more often, weekly even, but I can't justify the cost. I'd rather have a 10-20pack without the tool for the same price. Every etymotic product I have bought includes the filter removal tool in the packaging so I don't see why I have to buy it every time. It should be a standalone item that people can replace if lost. Overall, yes the filters are nice, and the tool works, but the cost is outrageous for what is purchased considering the most expensive part goes unused. I feel etymotic could make more money and have happier customers by omitting the tool from the order and increasing the number of filters.

Restore your Earbuds Sound To Original High Quality
Tool works perfectly to replace the filters in the ear buds. The prior filter went bad after a few years of use, so it's great to know I can get the sound back up to such a high level just by replacing the filters. The tool works great at getting the old filter out, and then it's a snap to get the new filter in place.

Works fine for HF-3 earphones, a little pricey
Suitable replacement ear wax filters for my trusty Etymotic HF-3 ear buds. For the price, I wish these came with a few more pairs of filters.

A needed if pricey consumable
I been a fan of Etymōtic earphones for many years. These filter are essential for keeping evil out of your earpieces. You can get just the these filters direct from Etymōtic minus the tool, however given the cost of the applied postage it is cheaper to purchase 2 sets with the un-needed tool through Amazon. Here is a tip, get a hearing aid cleaning kit. There are numerous such kits sold on Amazon, and they are cheap usually less than $10 bucks. The have wire loops for cleaning the wax shields on hearing aids, brushes to clean the sleaves, etc.

Does exactly as advertised
Does exactly what it should. Removes the old clogged filter and replaces them flawlessly - allowing me to hear the music. Etymotic ear buds are fantastic and their design to allow you to change filters is a perfect example of what quality means. I've owned my buds for 3 years and still no issues.

I do find these expensive for what you get. You should get many more for the price. It's kind of a ripoff.
