*** A TINY HIGH-PITCHED DISCO FOR RODENTS ***
How bad was my rodent problem? My auto insurance agent told me that my vehicle was his first total lost due to rodent damage in 35 years. Our late model Honda became a 5-Star resort for mountain mice. Under every seat, behind the dash, in the AC vents, in the headliner and even in the door panels they resided. Snacked on the wiring and ate all the paper work in the glove box. I placed two of these ultrasonic units under the hood of our new Honda. So far, no trace of any mice. I drive the new vehicle everyday and May 01st, was 60 days operating and the AA batteries are still providing power. The units flash white and green strobes. Iโm partially deaf, so I can't hear the ultrasonic sound it emits. Iโll do another update in several months. At this time, the product is working.

Seems to work; so far, so good
ours (ZN-509) is utilized beneath the belly of a trike which lives outside under a bike cover & a metal carport when not in use. our bike mechanic discovered a 'nest' (of some sort) fashioned in the compartment which houses the air filter of our trike last winter during annual "winterizing" & regular maintenance. at a loss, we decided to give this gizmo a try since our options are relatively limited. thanks to fellow, kind, community members' reviews, we bought this Loraffe model for the trike situation & another 'big brother' Loraffe for our 10'x12' metal shed out back (the much larger, triangular shaped, "4-in-1" model w/ two speakers & flashing LED's). both products have been used for a month & so far, so good! the one in the shed is plugged in 24/7 & the one on the concrete carport pad beneath the trike (this model above) runs on batteries. we haven't had to replace the batteries yet after 1 month but it's only "on"/ running during the evening & wee hours of morning. i see no indication of any rodent invasion in or around the trike since appropriating this unit about a month ago... again, so far, so good. i like the compact size of this model & might imagine it could impart lots of beneficial uses in a wide variety of places or applicable situations. iow's, it's small & portable & will run w/ standard AA's (3). yes, it's made in China. yes, it comes w/ a 1 year warranty. yes, you must remove the back plate to install batteries b/c that plate is secured by 1 tiny screw (the kit comes w/ a handy, tiny screwdriver + 8 tiny "zip" ties & 2 extra tiny screws). personally, i see no problem w/ this design but ymmv. Conclusion: would I recommend the product (or, Loraffe in general)? so far, absolutely. would I buy again? whelp, hopefully not b/c we hope the two we've already invested in will work as intended/ advertised for years to come. the ZN-509 emits both ultrasonic sounds & LED strobe effect lights which 'cycle' through 5 stages about every 113 seconds. there is both a red indicator light & a beeping sound emitted from the unit (per manual) when low power (<3.3 volts) is reached & batteries need replacing. there are two switches: an On/Off switch and the "Test" switch. that's it. we dwell in the ATL, GA suburbs (for context) in an older subdivision & our property (about 1/2 an acre) is adjacent to about 2 acres of natural, wooded area which also extends around the rear of our property line. we've been here about 17 years & rodents (mostly squirrels & field mice) have been the major culprit of our rodent dilemma. between the Loraffe's, the annual owls & hawks, we're optimistic that that dilemma will prove mitigated once and for all... time will tell.

It's Easy
It's easy to install and the quality is good but I don't know if it really works, two successive nights, when I checked the underhood I could still see rats poo.

Seems to Work For Now - Will Update if Needed
This gadget is still going strong after a month. Got it to deter mice from interior of car. They made it to my engine bay before, so this is part of a multi-faceted approach to rodent deterrent. It stays on the arm rest while driving (and sometimes is going off and on at slow speeds). Since I don't have evidence of more mice activity, I would say this might be helping. It gives me peace of mind having it. It is very quiet, seems to be constructed well (plastic) and looks like it will hold up. The batteries probably last 3 months, which is worth it. It's easy to use and glad I bought it.

The ONLY thing that works!
TLDR: Nothing works on wild rats, except this device. PROS: It just works! CONS: Only lasted 8 months, and needs 3 AAA batteries every 45-60 days. ...Now on to the review. I have a wild rat problem with my Heavy Equipment that lives outside in a field all day everyday. I initially installed one of these in my brand new backhoe as a precaution. To my surprise it never got rats. Fast forward about 8 months, I started getting rats all of a sudden. They were chewing up wires, and hoses, and costing me lots of money and time in repairs. It didn't dawn on me at this time to check the sonic device, I was in full panic mode. So I try repellent sprays, throw bags which are a repellent as well, poisons (Yes I know what people say, and I don't care there are thousands upon thousands of wild rats in this area, and it costs time and money to repair the damage) I tried multiple methods, multiple brands, nothing worked, the rats actually ripped up the "repellent bags" and made a mess as if to prove they aren't afraid of them LOL. Anyways, after 3 weeks of this mess, I finally thought maybe my device isn't working anymore. Come to find out, it had in fact died for good. It got clogged up with fine dust. So that sucks, but I bought another one. I installed it, and BAM, instantly, no more rats! For me the simple Pro outweighs all cons, because it's much cheaper than repairs.

Eats lots of batteries
Easy to install however, it takes three AA batteries that have to be replaced every 45 days. I shouldโve looked into that before I bought this.

This actually appears to work
I live in an urban rowhouse and keep my car on my parking pad out back just off the alley. I have tried several products (traps, sprays) to combat the squirrels and rats who have been camping out in my car, storing food and possibly chewing wires. Nothing worked. Not only has this device kept the rodents away from the car (as evidenced by no more poop in my engine area and under the vehicle), but I am also not seeing them anymore in the alley. It used to be that there were always a couple of squirrels out back waiting for my neighbor to feed them (that's another story). And a few times a week I would see a rat or two scurrying about. No more. Very happy with this device and hope it continues to work.
