Great rooftop tent!
All-in-all this is a great tent. There are some very nice design features that make it a good product. I would buy it again. Installation: the instructions are not the greatest, but they get the job done. The attachments are universal in nature. You basically have a channel to slide the heads of your bolts into and then a metal plate that can go around your rack. The channels attach to the bottom of the structure (metal plate). It is a rugged attachment system. I put on well over 3,000 miles on its first journey and I had no troubles with the attachment to the rack. When buying a rack, get one that sits up high enough for your vehicle so that you can get the metal rods installed (see setup below). These rods go into the base plate of the tent at a roughly 45 degree angle. so the tent needs to be situated behind the cab - if installed onto a pickup - so that these rods can be inserted and attached to the awnings. IF you wanted to put it close to the cab, you could use ropes to tie down the awning facing the front of the vehicle rather than the steel rods - that would be an option I believe. Setup - very straightforward. uncover, undo the Velcro (4 spots), lengthen the ladder, and unfold. After the unfolding, adjust the length of the ladder. When shortening the ladder slightly, it is the top steps that need to be released in order to shorten the length - not the bottom steps. Once you have worked with it you will understand. There are some metal rods (instructions for me said two sizes, but there was only one size) that need to be inserted at an angle into the bottom support plate of the tent. These rods attach to the awnings and flaps. A very novel idea. The rods are metal and flex - but don't bend. So they put constant tension onto the awnings, etc. to keep them in place. Make sure not to bend the rods as they will not work as well after being bent. Taking tent down - one person can do it. It will take a couple of times to figure out what is best for you and your setup to cleanly get it down and all tent material stuffed into the package. The last photo I included shows that when it is about half way up, i prop it is place so that I can go around and push the tent flaps inside. This makes it easier for the cover to be put on. I put the straps that are close to the ladder UNDER the cover. I am not sure how they are supposed to be installed, but I found that it worked better for me to put them under the cover. This allows you to put all four velcro straps on before the cover is installed. I left the metal rods inside the tent when folded over. they are small and do not get in the way. I believe the manual said you could leave some things in the tent, but I found leaving items in there made it tough to get the tented folded in half and the cover to fit on nicely. For the cover, I recommend starting at the front and then working back. You want the velcro to be attached firmly there - and not allow wind to get under it. Then work your way to the back. Great tent - rugged, easy to setup.

Must be closed to drive truck
So I put it on a trailer! Works great! Tent is quality built. I set up the windows with a step ladder. I put a thin air mattress over the foam mattress because my hips dig into the bottom. Very roomy for 2 adults. The roof over the ladder collected water in heavy rains but a pool noodle as a center beam fixed the problem. It does weigh 160 lbs. Get some people (4) to install.

Easy setup, LOUD rain fly.
Overall, I like this tent. The ease of set up and pack down make spontaneous trips to the mountains a lot easier. Not to mention it is bolted to my truck, so it would be hard to forget to bring it. I mounted the tent on a contractors rack on a full sized pickup with oversized tires, so the tent is about ten feet off the ground. I had to drill new holes in the mounting rails to bolt the tent to to get the tent to open to the side of the vehicle instead of the back, but that was because of the contractors rack. If mounted to roof rails as intended, this wouldn't be necessary. Other than that, the installation process was pretty straight forward. I used a forklift due to the height I was mounting the tent at, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue for two people to lift it onto an SUV roof. Once mounted, the tent is super quick to set up, about two minutes. It packs back up in about five minutes. All the straps used to cinch the folded tent down are sturdy two inch nylon webbing, and the cover is a heavy duty rubberized material that should hold up for a very long time. The floor is insulated, and has a three inch memory foam mattress on top of that. This is one of the more comfortable tents I have slept in. It is better than most cots, and definitely better than sleeping on the ground. Not as comfortable as a hammock, but not much is. I also like the "accessories kit" that is included. None of the items are super high quality or anything, but it is something the company didn't need to do. The problems with the tent come when actually trying to sleep in it. The first issue is condensation. This is a single wall tent, so I knew this would be an issue. After coming back from a trip, the tent needs opened up and aired out to dry. So far this has only been an issue on cold nights (below 0). This isn't to big of an issue, just something to be aware of. The other issue, and the reason for the missing star in the rating, is the rain fly. Any winds higher than ten miles an hour, and this thing sounds like a jet engine inside the tent. Or as my brother put it when he heard the noise, "It sounds like God is trying to kill you". I had the rain fly properly installed and tightened. On my third trip with the tent, the winds picked up to over 50 miles an hour, and the rain fly bent all the poles and tore itself from the nylon webbing used to tighten the rain fly down. This turned out to be a blessing, since it got a lot quieter in the tent after that. I now just use the tent without the rain fly. I camp in dry climates mostly, but I have woke up to several inches of snow on the tent, and no leaks. The tent fabric appears to have a DWR coating of some sort. At the end of the day, I am happy with the tent. It is easy to set up, made of heavy duty materials, and comfortable. If it weren't for the rain fly, it would be a five star tent. This may be an issue with all rooftop tents. This is the only one I have experience with, so keep that in mind.

Well-made, and super insulated
If thereโs one thing you need to know about this product is it holds heat extremely well. Be sure to open your window or youโll end up with a good sweat session and condensation on the inside of the tent. If youโre into rooftop tents this is definitely one to buy.

It's pretty amazing.... I thought....
UPDATE 4: so after opening up an A to Z case on the seller after a week of no response, imagine that, they responded. So I received a replacement tent 3 days ago. Of course no phone call again so it was left in my front yard. Well when I got it on the truck today after inspecting it, I was climbing up install the bungee chords and I realized that there are no pull straps. Nothing to grab onto or anything. I sent an email to the seller, but I don't expect a response. Just do yourself a favor and get a different brand. I have heard good things about the smittybuilt... I wish I would have gone that way UPDATE 3: It's now been a week since I've tried to get some help and the seller has stopped responding to me. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS OR ANY OTHER ITEM FROM Overland Vehicle Systems. UPDATE 2: 4 days later I get a response. The Seller wants to send me a new tent fabric. Seriously!? No thanks! Over a thousand dollars for a tent and they want ME to service it?! It hasn't even been used yet. I no longer want this product. I am considering returning it (someone will have to pick up this pile of trash) and the $400 Annex room I bought that hasn't been out of the bag. I expect a full refund, or a perfect replacement tent. UPDATE: So After installing the tent Tuesday, I decided to open it up today, check it out kind of thing....That's when I saw the seam was coming apart. It was ripped it looks like. So I called OVS and was advised to email them the pic. Waiting on a response. They said they will take care of me, so lets see. I will update accordingly. Took about a week to receive it. Fine, it came all the way from California. The tent is amazing! Took a bit of work to get it mounted to my rack, but its on, its solid, and I love it! No issues so far with quality (just got it), and its pretty simple to install. Even comes with a Gearwrench LOL. The only issue I had that kept this from being a 5 star review..... It was delivered and dropped in front of my house with no prior notice. I received an email stating a lift gate delivery was setup and the driver would assist me in getting inside. Well I wasn't even home. When I called the shipping company, Estes, they were like "Oh well, you received it right? Call the shipper." So I called OVS. The lady told me she would look into it and call me back. Well I ended up getting some help and we got it in the garage until my Step--Son could come over and help me install it. Otherwise, I had no issues. Oh, the representative from OVS NEVER called me back. That said, I hope I don't have any issues as my first experience with their customer service reps is not promising. But who knows. Again, that's why 4 out of 5 stars.

Great entry level RTT
After running this tent for the better part of a season we have a few thoughts. 1st for the price these are pretty good! Notably the website lists the mattress as 3โ thick high density foam, the tent we got was barely 2โ thick and not nearly as comfortable as some of our previous tents. Plan to add to the mattress with an auxiliary pad if they have not changed what they ship. The cover is OK but got to us with a few abraded places (fixed with a patch). The cover fits fairly snug but the Velcro that holds the cover to the tent is already showing signs that it wonโt last, the sewed seams are raveling and are starting to detach. This tent is sized to fit two adults and a kid no problem. More than that it gets tight quickly. A huge complaint I have is there is no great storage place for the bar that hold the annex section out and it MUST be removed to fold the tent. This has proved to be frustrating time and again. A small change that would be great for others is a small pocket where the tie down ropes could be stored for transport. Hope this helps anyone else looking to get out and do some overlanding!

OVS Nomadic 3 Roof Top Tent on a custom built trailer
Product is as described. Had the tent sent to TToc Trailers in Fresno Ca to install since they built the custom trailer. Did not receive the pillows, table or dust pan/broom. I still give it an excellence since the tent is the most important item. Brought home today and after practicing open/close a few times it is very easy. Plenty of storage, king size bed, LED strip are great. The mattress is comfy and lets a 6"4 300lb man stretch with no problem. We kept the tent lower on the trailer since we are older and had 2 recent knee replacement surgeries so the telescopic ladder is great since we can adjust. Thank you, Tamara Galindo

Great Price. Great Quality. Great Customer Service.
This tent is perfect! The customer service with Overland vehicle systems was second to none. There were a couple hiccups regarding shipping but they figured it out very promptly. The tent is super easy to put together upon arrival and made with what seems to be really good material. I would recommend this tent to anybody. It's the perfect combination of reasonably priced with high quality!
