Easy to use and sturdy.

We were very disappointed in the Lucy pro. We liked the concept and it seemed to be structurally functional but it failed at what it was supposed to actually do. We tried it in a variety of places with varying light, we even tried adding a clip on light but we never found a situation where the image was clear enough to trace cleanly.We read the instructions over and over and watched the instructional videos but never found a way to use it that was any help. Had this been a $50 item, we would have thought "oh well" but for $290, this was a definite fail and we are returning for a refund.

I bought this product to enable repetitive copying from photos for a watercolor project. However the device arrived without the advertised attachment for photo copying. I contacted the company and they quickly responded and two weeks later I was sent the wrong attachment. I contacted the company again and two weeks later they still haven't sent the correct part. The part they sent is for the smaller device and doesn't seem to work correctly on the larger device. I am probably going to return the product because I don't usually paint still life and I can't see a use for it aside from repetitive copying from photos.I did experiment with the device and find that it can be a bit tricky to use and you need a room with controlled lighting. It may work well outside for landscapes but I don't want to use it as a substitute for drawing from life. I'm sure it may be useful to some but it shouldn't be used as a substitute for having a practiced hand and eye.I will say that the product does seem well constructed from quality materials and the design is well thought out. It isn't like the usual flimsy overseas manufactured products that have flooded the art supply world. But it is a bit expensive for something that would only be used occasionally.If I had the proper attachment for copying from photos and it allowed me to enlarge a drawing properly, I would keep the device.

It's a nice machine, does what it's supposed to do, with practice, especially after watching many independent videos. BUT, the box arrived without proper taping so anyone could have opened it during shipping. It's packed like a cheap toy -- a bunch of things tossed into a box, nothing lovely about the unpacking process, and finally the assembly instructions are a joke. Had to go on line to foreign videos to see it assembled and work backwards. Sorry, very amateurish. Other than that, I'm happy.

I have both this model and the smaller Lucy. This larger model is definitely higher quality materials and allows for a larger image. I like to use this one in my studio, and use the smaller one when I go out. Fascinated by these types of devices and this is a great example of the camera lucida device. It still requires work and skill for a decent results, but it is very handy tool to have.

Do not waste your time and your money on this bad product!

I love accuracy. This easy gadget saves me an enormous amount of time that I would otherwise spend calculating the parameters of my subject matter. It takes mere minutes to outline my objects, so that I can spend my time on shading, color, texture etc to my drawings and paintings, the fun stuff! Very versatile and easy to transport.

Cant get it to work, and have watched all the you tube tutorials, very expensive tool that is not working.
