How are these headphones different from the AKG 550?

K553 MKII have removable cord, the one in the 550 is fixed. Soundwise, I can't really tell because I never use the 550. What I read about it, it's there is not a big diffrence about sound. So these are almost exactly the same headphone, the major advantage about this is the detachable cable, for example I have several with different lengths for different situations (long one for office, short one for commuting etc.). What is the difference between these and the "K553 Pro" model?

Never tried those. I read about it a lot before buying them, it suppose to be the same headphone except for the detachable cable, which it's a big advantage.

Would an AMP benefit this headset any?

Never tried with one, I assume as any other headset it will always benefit with an AMP. I use this one with my phone without problem, not really loud but loud enough. I used with a Iphone 6, later with a Xiaomi, now with a Pixel 3a. Iphone 6 I think was the loudest, may be my current Pixel best quality but not as loud as my old Iphone.
