12 year review
I bought this knife 12 years ago on Amazon. I have brutalized this knife camping in the PNW every year. As an example of abuse this thing takes, I use it as a wedge to split wood, meaning I have hit it with the back end of my hatchet over and over through the course of 12 years and split countless logs and timber with it down to kindling. I then use it to shave down the kindling to a good starter dust. I say all of this just to show how well it keeps an edge after being forcefully driven into hard dry wood. I resharpen the utility edge on it once a season at home and run the stone on it if I remember to while out camping. After 12 years the only concern I have is the pommel is starting to get a little wiggly. I’m buying another one for my daughter to use camping. I gave this review for free. I can’t imagine owning another knife for camping and backpacking. If you are out deep enough and have to trust your life to your gear not failing, this is the one.

Good quality
Great quality knife. Been using it for outdoor and it’s nice. Will buy again if needed.

good knife
This knife appears to be of good quality, and came sharp. The steel blade is a good thickness and should be a nice cutter. The sheath is adequate for holding the knife, but I did not receive the pouch that was supposed to be included with the sheath, or the sharpening steel that it was advertised to have included in the sale. I will try to make contact with the supplier to find out about both the sharpener and pouch missing from my order.

Excellent value for the money
I own several Smith & Wesson knives, every one of them has been great value for the price. No these are not going to be in the same category as some of the $300 and up "survival" or "Combat" knives, but for the money, these are excellent and will get the job done.I purchased this one for my bug out bag. I am very pleased with this knife. Though it is not my primary "survival" knife, I would not feel that I was lacking if this were the only knife I had in a camping or survival situation, and it appears that it would be just fine for actual combat as well. The knife arrived on time and sharp, though I did sharpen it a little more. The included sharpening stone isn't that great but will do in a pinch. The knife was tight, no wobble like other reviews have mentioned. It was in new, unscratched condition. The knife is a tad lighter than I expected, making it great for hiking or backpacking, perfect for a bug out bag. I'm not a fan of the overly large nylon sheaths most knives come with lately, but it will get the job done.My only complaint with this knife, and it is minor, is that there is a silver pin through the pommel, securing the handle to the tang. The head is pounded in and flattened but there is a slight sharp point raised up on one side. A little grinding fixed it, though I still put a layer of black tape over, just because it looked out of place.I have taken it camping a couple times, just to get a good feel for it, and it sliced through rope, sticks, food, everything I needed it to cut. It does the job and for an excellent price, which is why I gave it 5 stars even though I had a few minor dislikes. You really can't beat it. I plan on buying a couple more.

Best Quality and Value for a Knife You Can Get
I've been searching quiet a while for a fixed blade knife as a heavy-duty multipurpose tool to carry. The Smith & Wesson brand speaks for itself on so many levels. I selected this knife after reading many reviews on several knives and could not ignore the comments on this knife. I was cautiously optimistic when purchasing this product, being sold on the reviews, brand, history, multipurpose uses, design, style and the heavy-duty nylon black sheath included. What I received well exceeded my expectations due to the weight, balance, ease of use, design, handling and the size literally caught me off guard. The packaging was excellent and the knife comes with a seriously sharp edge, so be careful. I would recommend taking the copy of the Lifetime Warranty and Care Instructions, blowing them up 200% and darkening by +1 intensity so they can actually be read without a magnifying glass. This is a reasonably good size knife after being used to folding tactical knives of about 8 inches overall. The sheath alone is amazing in its design for multiconfiguration as one would require at any particular time. I like the use of snaps and hook and loop fastening to make changes. A quality sharpening stone is included with its own detachable pocket. This might sound like a small insignificant item, but the lace to tie the knife around the leg is a nice added touch. All-in-all a highly developed product comfortably meeting the many needs of a user from simply carrying it with you for the needs that might come up, to camping, hiking, uses around the home, tool shed or even in the car for emergencies. This is my second Smith & Wesson knife product and once again there are no disappointments. I highly recommend this product.
