Reliable, no-frills workhorse
Let me first say that I am a pretty picky mouse user, and have tried over a dozen models of mice this past year, both wired and wireless, from companies like Logitech, Dell, HP, Kensington, and others. My favorite wireless models seemed to always "improve" every couple years or so, which (in my opinion) actually left them less usable; hence, my search for the perfect wired mouse. I was surprised by the Adesso's exceptional build quality, tracking and accuracy, given its nigh-unbeatable price. The HC-3003US also seems to have been around in its current form for awhile, being cited as Win XP/2000 compatible on its website. As an aesthetic bonus, the body is monochrome black without any distracting branding logos. I could already see this mouse becoming my go-to workhorse. PROS * Basic, no-frills mouse under $10 * The 1000 dpi optical sensor tracks very smoothly on wood, paper, etc. * Mouse wheel appears durable and sturdy -- there's virtually no "give", unless clicked. Also, it's functional -- with notched scrolling and easy to grip rubber. CONS * Fairly audible clicks and scrolling. It's not a silent mouse by any means.

Does the job. Poor quality control on the plug. :(
Basic optical mouse with clickable scrolling wheel. The click on scrolling wheel is a bit stiffer than other mice that I have used. Wheel scrolls very smoothly. Works for me with Microsoft Intellipoint software versions 4.1 (Windows NT) and 7 (Windows 7). Replaced a Microsoft Intellimouse. Software recognized the new mouse and kept the setting that I had set for the scroll wheel (double click). As another reviewer pointed out, the guide pin in the plug is a bit oversized. I did get the plug to go in but it was more of a struggle than it should be. Cursor movement is MUCH faster than the previous mouse. You can set this by going to Mouse and then clicking the pointer options tab and setting the pointer speed slider faster or slower to suite your needs. A good option for someone needing a PS/2 mouse. Would have gotten 5 stars, if the quality of the plug had been better.

Good high-hertz mouse for older PC's
Used this for an old windows 98 PC. Works nice and has a high hz rate compared to other mice I've used

Inexplicably waking up computer even when not moved.
Bought this to replace an old scroll mouse that I was using on my ancient KVM (keyboard video mouse) Switch. While it does work, this mouse for some inexplicable reason is waking up the computer when it goes into sleep mode and on occasion just stops working properly where I have to unplug it from the KVM and plug it back in. powercfg /devicequery wake_armed verified that the only thing that is allowed to wake the computer is the mouse. My old mouse would not wake the PC until it was moved. The tracking, speed, accuracy, scrolling all worked fine. It may be fine for other applications, just not for mine.

Great for retro
Used this for my Commodore Amiga computer (with adapter of course). Works well, easy movement and no issues with double clicking, etc.

Erratic movement on some surfaces
Nice mouse for what it is. Design is fine, it’s relatively comfortable and it feels right when you click it. It has trouble with reading movement on some surfaces which causes erratic movement of the cursor. It wouldn’t move correctly on my wooden desk surface, nor on the plastic surface of my IKEA table. Ended up taping a piece of copier paper to the desk and that worked for a while. Ultimately, I never could get it to read movement with 100% accuracy. I ended up putting it in my desk drawer and using a cheap Dell USB mouse instead. I don’t think I’d recommend it to a friend.

Yeah, it's exactly what I wanted. My ancient work computer has the "PS/2" connector (it's the round one, often green) and came with a USB mouse connected through a "dongle" to convert to the USB to PS/2. It worked, but I didn't like the mouse, so I got this one. It's inexpensive and works perfectly. It's quite lightweight, and a good size for my large-ish hands. Great to be able to get things like this from Amazon - it would have taken forever to try to find one otherwise.

The middle mouse button stopped working after a few months. I opened it up and found that the plastic support for the mouse wheel broke. Not going to buy it again. Ordered a logitec mouse as a replacement.
