Many water resistant watch cases are made of this steel process. My 2 Swaggers have held up great. I have used one as EDC and it has lasted well for 3 years plus. Warning!! I have recieved cheap copies (made in China)!! About a 1/3 of Gerbers I've bought on Amazon have been clones, weird. I have a knife expert check my knives now. **Q: Is this a genuine gerber swagger or a fake one , because i read somewhere that china puts out a lot of counterfeit copies of genuine gerber knives ?** A: The knife has the Gerber logo on one side and the GERBER name on the clip. Saw another answer that this is made in China for Gerber. Have been a good knife and used hard. I just keep a quick sharpener handy and touch up as needed. Only issue I've had is the blade lock was super hard to disengage until broken in. This is my daily 'beater' knife and happy with it. **Q: Is there a clip on the side of the knife** A: Yes, there is. Worth every penny **Q: What steel is the blade made from** A: Unfortunately there is very little information on the packaging or website to say what kind of steel was used in the blade. We do know that the handle is made from G10 with stainless steel inserts. I believe that SanRenMu used to make this knife. They are pretty knowledgeable about Chinese made knives and could probably get you the non Gerber version if it is still in production. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife for low price *by on Reviewed in the United States June 1, 2016* Good quality for the money. A little back story on this knife. The first knife that came was defective because the frame lock was a bit to long and therefore made it too difficult to release with thumb had to use a screwdriver to release it. I returned the first knife and then asked for a replacement and the frame lock releases much easier. I must admit that there is a bit of finesse and thumb strength needed to release the frame lock and fold down the knife. This is because the part of the frame lock where you put your thumb to release it protrudes only slightly outside of the knife frame itself which does not give your thumb enough surface area to push on the frame lock. But I believe this is a good thing because it reduces possibility of accidently pushing the release to easily and causing the knife to fold down unintentionally and causing injury. The knife is very sharp so it will handle most cutting jobs.
