Dri Mark Smart Money Counterfeit Detector Pen with Reusable UV LED Light (DRI351UVB)

These are must have for cash transactions. I started cleaning out my garage by way of selling stuff on FB Marketplace. I'm leary of taking cash from strangers around San Antonio. Everyone wants to pay cash, and I just don't trust people. So I got these. Super useful. Sure ya can kinda feel a fake bill, especially bad ones. But for a quick, bit more peace of mind, this is great. Compact size. Very portable. The UV light cap is pretty ingenious. This should last a long while. And I've already got a stash of the proper sized button batteries if the original kicks the bucket. Having not encountered a fake bill in the wild with this, it's hard to attest to accuracy. Will say, on a legit bill, the UV light does show the UV strip in $5-$100 bills I've tested. Ink stays clear on good bills and shows black on every regular paper I've swiped it on. So if you are a garage saler, a marketplace seller, flea market vendor, or in another cash heavy business, this is a quick, inexpensive, unobtrusive tool. An electronic device may be more accurate, but likely more expensive, and less portable. Highly recommend. I was selling a car for cash to someone coming in from out of town. I wanted a way to verify the authenticity of the bills, this did the trick, and all the bills were legit.

That the light ia very important to see the color of strips that each bill has. There has been a lot of counterfeit bills going through where I live. The paper always almost passes but the strip doea not lie.

I used to use these at a bar I worked at. The pen is always nice, but having the UV LED light for super quick bill checking is a really nice feature. You'll see the bands glow and the watermark illuminate. I've seen bills that were clearly hand drawn so that they would look reasonably good when held up to the light, but become VERY obviously fake once hit with the black light. I ended up buying these for home use once I started selling some of my gear on Craigslist. There are a lot of counterfeit bills floating around there, and I didn't want to get scammed. The cost of these pens is a small price to pay. I guess it's hard to say how "accurate" they are. There might be counterfeits out there that are good enough to fool both the pen AND the UV LED, but at that point I'm not sure that any other measure is going to be much better.

Not very good. Seems to only work on US paper.
