Love these! Purchased recently for a trip to Disneyland during a heatwave. So easy to use and super practical. Saved having to touch the suncream which helps if you have sensory needs both yourself and your children. My children never complained as it felt comfortable for them and gentle on their skin. I bought these in July 2023, fabulous on the go mess free sunscreen top up, I wash it up with antibac washing up liquid or soap and let it fully dry before each refill. They have both seen us through 3 summers faultlessly, the sponge applicator came off one of them last week while on holiday so I’ve just ordered a pair of replacement applicator tips! The other is still perfect and going strong! I’m so impressed with these, they’ve lasted so well and enable my son to effortlessly apply his own sunscreen without mess or help to rub it in! I will continue to buy these even when my son is grown up, as they’re so handy to just chuck in your bag and use while out and about and no messy hands! Win win!!!

Great for the holidays no mess

These are perfect for applying sun cream especially on children, toddlers and babies. Each one can be refilled with your usual sun cream and has a roll applicator to apply to a child. It is so easy to roll an application of sun cream onto a child’s (or anyone’s) skin. I would highly recommend this product for applying sun cream. Also I think they would make a good product to send a child to school/out and about with as you can feel confident they will be able to use this product to evenly apply their sun cream if they need to.

Incredibly convenient and easy to use for both my children to apply their sunscreen. They keep them in their school bags for a top up on hot days and it means they can apply cream easily without getting everything around them covered in suncream too. The application is even and it makes applying cream much less of a chore, especially to the kids.

So I really liked the idea of these and when we received them the children were super excited to try them. Pros: super easy to apply, spreads in an even layer so no need to rub in, kids love them and want to use them independently. Cons: easy to apply *only* if held upright (which they won’t as you need to apply it horizontally or upside down depending on body part) as the roll-on only works when the cream is running downwards. Need to fill with a lot of sun cream at a time or super annoying to apply as it doesn’t flow so easy. Easy to get sand in the sponge if on the beach. Unless always washing sponge then not happy to use it to apply cream to the face. Not the most efficient use of sunscreen, goes much further when applied by hand. I filled the two containers with cream from a whole bottle of lotion and it ran out after 3 days. Normally a bottle lasts a week. Much was still in the container but no longer rolled on. Just a bit too faffy. So overall my feeling is that these are just not worth the hassle and are too wasteful with the sun cream (which is not cheap these days!). I did like the sponge applicator as it meant my hands stayed clean and application was smooth and even but even so, we won’t be using these again on our next trip.

I have a child who absolutely loathes wearing sun cream—we’ve tried every trick in the book. So when I came across Solar Buddies, I figured it was worth a shot. I ordered the multipack for my two boys and loved that each applicator came in a different colour—makes it super easy for them to tell theirs apart. I filled them with our usual sun cream and gave it a go. To my surprise (and relief!), my son didn’t mind the application at all. In fact, he’s now keen to apply it himself! I think the issue was the sensation of being touched and the mess of sticky hands—Solar Buddies completely solves that. The sponge provides smooth, even coverage and blends the cream in beautifully. The only minor downside is that it rubs in so well, it’s hard to tell where it’s been applied—so I’m planning to try a coloured sun cream next to make it more visible. Overall, a brilliant product that’s made sun protection far less of a battle in our house!

Came across these as I have a child with a sensory aversion to applying sunscreen. I must say I was a bit dubious with how they would go as I haven't really found sunscreen rollers the best in the past. I must say that these have been a big hit though. The sponge nicely spreads the sunscreen without any need to actually get any sunscreen on your hands. I'm not too sure how well the sponge will last longevity wise so we'll have to wait and see but a week in and they're going well.

Theoretically this makes sense and would be a miraculous product, however I found that the sunscreen leaks out if we ever need to unscrew to refill and there is a good amount of product waste which gets the rest of the bottle messy. For this reason, we will be going back to the old fashion way of hand application.
