Authentic Models Windsor Prose

First of all, I should say that I'm a semi-pro calligrapher and usually use nothing but a nib holder and Mitchell nibs, for me this is quite a departure. I'm very happy I bought it. The set consists of two nib holders, 8 nibs, 2 bottles of ink (red and sepia), and an all-glass pen. I have not yet tried the glass pen -- I'm actually a little scared to since I don't want to drop it. The other pens are quite serviceable, and work quite well for 19th and 20th century scripts like Copperplate (even if they don't resemble the usual Copperplate pen). The ink is also something I hadn't used before this and I find it quite lovely. I wish that there were eye droppers for them (since that's how you usually fill a pen's resevoir -- it prevents accidental splotches when you begin to write, although nothing will stop one if you shake the pen). My only complaint is the most common for everyone: it's a bit pricey. However, given that glass pens must be handmade from molten glass, the price is probably just about right. To quote Steven Wright: Oh, well. You can't have everything. Where would you keep it?

The set looks beautiful but I expected to use it for calligraphy but every single nip appears to be for writing thin lines. There's no nibs that are wider to allow you to vary the width to create beautiful handwriting. If you are okay with that, then buy the set. If not, keep looking!

I liked this set and new exactly what I was going to do with the box! First the inks are good just a bit watery for me so I'll let them evaporate a bit befor using them. The set it's self would make a great gift to anyone who still knows how to write a letter, the packaging is eligent and nice to look at. The wooden box is thick on all sides and makes a great Nib & Pen case, I gutted the cardboard out of the box and put a small clear case for Nibs witch left room for both nibholder and Fountan Pen alike.

I love the box itself. It doesn't bother that the inside is cardboard or that it doesn't stick. And I saw the review about the feather on top falling, mine hasn't, but if it does I can just glue it back myself. I liked the ink colors. The nibs are nice but although the you receive 8 nibs, they are not 8 different nibs. There are really only 3 different nibs. The tip of my glass dip pen was chipped and I can't use it. The rest is nice and fine. It just wasn't what I expected and it didn't have seals or wax like it said in the description. Anyone wondering if the product has changed since the other reviews are so old, it has not. It is exactly as pictured.

It's hard to right a review. I gave this set to my soulmate of 38 years. But I am getting a lot more kisses. She love's them... They go with a book of shadows I gave her.. It's like a personal diary. I believe I made a very good choice with the Windsor set. Dave B.

This item is not of the vaslue to the image shown. Amazon OKed the refund because there are issues in returning it. I returned my set to make sure the Quality Control section for Amazon could review what the item actually was. If $14.00 OK, at $57.00 this is not of the quality or value. The image shows detail cardborad inserts. The tips are rather thin and the top pen is more red plastic when viewed in person.

Great Gift. Lovely

The box is probably the nicest part of this entire set. However, as soon as you open it up, you've started downhill. The inside of the box box is unfinished. This wouldn't normally be an issue but the crappy plastic inserts are hardly glued in and when you open the box the top inserts falls out. The nibs are below average. You can find better on most cheep fountain pens. The two wooden pens feel cheap and it is very difficult to swap out the nibs. I have no issues with the glass pen. It looks and works as described. The ink is average. Unfortunately when I closed the box I noticed that the leaf on top had fallen off the lid.
