Pretty solid for a rotating bracket.
This bracket works well to allow changing composition between portrait and landscape. Primary use will be for general use and not so much for slow shutter, long telephoto, or macro shots requiring the highest degree of stability. It is not particularly because of play in the bracket mechanism, but rather the camera is just further away from the head and the additional leverage adds to any possible shake. The bracket has bearings that appear to be preloaded to minimize play and the parts are of substantial strength given the reasonable weight. My version came with a Custom Brackets quick release. I like this release mechanism. It has a tapered fit that does not work loose. This release is very easy to use. It is very quick to remove and mount the camera. It is not compatible with other quick release systems. The bracket is designed to be assembled in configurations to suit gripped 35mm size DSLRs and those without grips. My use is with a Nikon D300 and D800 and the camera rotates essentially about the centerline of the lens. So the central point of the image does not change noticeably when rotating the camera. I have not had occasion to use the bracket with a gripped camera but the optional screw holes are available. The bracket will not function with cameras that are substantially outside the dimensions of 35mm format DSLRs. I recommend this bracket with the caveat regarding high stability situations. In those cases I would just flop the head over to get portrait position. Use of "L" bracket might be only slightly more stable than the rotating bracket.

Nice!
If you need to swap your camera from portrait to landscape in a heartbeat... you need this tool. Well built., just make sure you have enough space in your bag for it, I pair this one with the manfrotto junior geared head 410 Other than that it’s awesome

Great accessory for any photographer
A lightweight, excellently engineered piece of equipment that enables the photographer to shoot portrait or landscape style without changing the focal plane of the camera. I use this every time I shoot and it saves time and effort when shooting portraits or wedding photography. Worth every penny I paid for it.

Great product.
Wanted the precision of a video tripod, but also wanted to go vertical for stills. This product enabled me to do that. Quality of design and construction is excellent. Glad I made this purchase.
