Pokemon 2-Player Starter Set Trading Card Game

For those fond of nostalgia, this is a great buy. I remember being young and naive, having my parents buy me this starter set several times. Why? Because I thought I'd get new cards every time. Upon buying this just recently, I noticed that it stated very clearly that each starter set contains the "SAME" cards. That silliness aside, it was great to have this in my hands again. I've recently set out on a conquest to collect all of the first 151 Pokemon - original cards only. I had many cards come through my hands throughout my childhood, and I would love to relive that rush of excitement I had every time I came face-to-face with a new card. The new Pokemon (and new cards) are nothing compared to the originals. My story aside, this is a great way to secure a few of the standard Pokemon cards. If you're on the same mission as I am, start with this and then buy the first-edition, foil "Booster Packs" in order to catch 'em all.

A great Starter deck, brings me back to my childhood. there were a lot of doubles, but it was so cool to see all the original cards, and yes I got a 1st edition hold Machamp with it' very happy with what I got.

Just duplicate energy and common cards

I purchased this because it was a base set.( thats good). I am upset because i only received one decent card. Each deck contained 11 creature cards and there were only three different pokemon. So they are extreme duplicates. like 5 charmanders out of 11 cards, 4 Ponyta, and 2 charmeleon. Only the charmeleon was of the uncommon type, the rest were common. it came with a lot of energy cards and a few trainers. I dont recommend this for anyone who is hopeing to get something good.

They are what they are, but we did find this sort of set for about half the price at the local store. Maybe this one is out of print or something? I just wanted a starter set for my son, and I wish I had just gone to the store.

I must say I was a little surprised at the cost of a card game,but the smile that was on my grandsons face when he saw what I had gotten him it was worth the price.

My son has been getting into a lot of the Pokémon games for the Nintendo DS. I told him that there was a card game that we could play together and he was willing to try it. It has become one of our favorite father and son "hobbies". We play several times a week. The rules are easy to learn, and it plays pretty fast. So you can get several games in during one session. If you're looking for a fun game, especially one that can bring parent and child together, this is a good option.

The box was greatly preserved and all the contents were in their original packaging. Also, the delivery time was even shorter than the estimate. All in all, an excelent purchase.

As someone who loves Pokemon, and someone who hasn't played the TCG in 20 years because someone stole the cards at school, I never cared to get into the TCG until this was posted. The cards are the original, and has a total of 61 cards. The included holographic Machamp was bent due to packaging, but thw game does still play the same. I was hoping the pack would've had a 60 card deck since that is what you need for a deck, and it is advertised as a 2-player deck. Do not plan to use these cards in more modern decks, because the old cards are VERYA bad to use as they are not effective. I have purchased many more modern decks and packs, and have cuerently sleeved all of these cards and have kept them away. Still fun to look at.
