Mechanisms of Organic Reactions (Oxford Chemistry Primers)

Disappointing
I recommend buying "Foundations of Organic Chemistry" (same publisher) instead. This book is way to brief to be very helpful. There are lots of things missing. I do not recommend. The best book on mechanisms, however, is "The Art of Writing Reasonable Reaction Mechanisms".

Excellent material to aid initial studies
This is a well written, succint and accesible introduction to the most basic mechanisms of organic chemical reactions. It does cover the fundamentals of Nucleophilic substitution in aliphatic (non-aromatic) compounds and also provides a general overview of mechanisms of addition, both electrophilic and nucleophilic. The text offers relevant examples and step by step explanations which are useful and aid understanding of the subject.
