Only OK
So far, so okay. I'm in my fifties and have a true sun or age spot on my left cheek, that I've allowed it to take hold over the past 5 years or so. It's dark and smallish (about .5 cm "long" and .2 "high"), but defined and noticeable, and it was beginning to expand. Above that spot, to the left of my eye, I have a larger, vague area of faint discoloration that has developed over the same number of years. I decided to do something about them and noted that very few products had strong reviews, so I decided to use a cheaper option - Alpha Hydrox. I use other Alpha Hydrox products and am happy with them.I've now used Spot Light on my facial spots for about 16 days. I've dabbed the product on faithfully in the morning and 2/3 of the time have also used it at night. These are my observations. Spot on cheek - saw a quick, initial diminution of the recently expanded areas. The vague edges that were creeping outward were quickly eliminated, making the spot more contained. The overall color has lightened, though not dramatically. I'm pleased so far, but the real test is whether the spot will be eliminated or reduced to the point the spot is barely noticeable. The vague discoloration area near my eye is somewhat lighter, I think. Difficult to tell, because the discoloration was so faint. Success in the eye area can only be defined by complete elimination. I'll post back about both areas after 30 days of use.I decided about 8 days ago to also test the product on a larger age/sun spot on my knee that developed almost 15 years ago. It's a bit larger than .5 cm wide and high. Thus far, I've used the product each morning and evening. I believe the spot is growing lighter overall, but it's a subtle change. I don't have high hopes for this area, nor do I really care, it's just an additional testing spot, but I will also post back about this progress.I've experienced no sensitivity, but remember I'm using the product on small, contained areas and didn't expect a reaction.**Update March 26**Almost a month later and I've seen incremental improvement, but nothing satisfying. The spot on my cheek has grown a bit lighter, but it is still a fixture on my face. The area around my eye continued to lighten and while it has not disappeared, it is reduced enough that I don't notice it. Interestingly, the old spot on my knee displays lightening on about a third of its entire mass.Hydroquinone is the gold standard of OTC treatments, but I think I've reached a plateau. I'll use Spot Light for two more weeks and then try a kojic acid product, though I know they are less effective.

Great for the neck! Horrible for the face...
I originally bought this product as I was looking for a skin lightener to help fade marks from a recent staph infection. My infection was originally folliculitis, which causes tiny acne-like pimples to form in the infected area. Believing these to be acne, I treated them with acne wash which irritated and spread them, eventually causing staph which resulted in infected and inflamed boils and cysts all along the front of my neck. Once the infection cleared up with antibiotics, I was left with horrible red and brown marks from the boils and cysts. I've been using this product daily for over a week and the marks have faded tremendously. They're still there, and I'm sure it will take time for it to heal completely, but so far the results are great. Tiny brown marks, the size of moles or freckles, seemed to get darker, scab over, then fall off, leaving a fresh pinkish area that slowly fades into the rest of the skin. Larger red marks, the size of about a pea, just gradually fade to a lighter pink. However, I decided to also use this on my face for some old red marks left from old acne. Horrible idea! I've used hydroquinone and glycolic acid before with no problem, so I believe it may just be the oiliness of the product, but it has caused the worst outbreak I've had in years! My face is covered in tiny, red, inflamed pimples (acne pimples, not folliculitis pimples). It also burned my face, left it very red, but did help to lighten old marks. However, I'll probably have new marks to deal with now thanks to this! By the way, if you have sensitive skin, as I do, don't use twice a day, only use once at night before bed and only use a small amount. Too much causes redness and peeling. And if you have acne prone skin, DO NOT use this product. It will make you break out horribly, even if you don't currently have acne. To sum it up, I gave this product 3 stars although I really rate it 2 1/2. Does wonderfully for marks on the body, but causes hell on the face. This product is good, but seems to be a bit strong for those with sensitive skin. If you decide to use, test it first before diving head-first. Judging by my own experience and the other reviews, this seems to be a hit or miss product, either hitting bullseye and doing perfect or missing off the chart and either doing absolutely nothing or making matters even worse.

Great ingredients, scientifically supported, trustworthy brand :)
Alpha Skin care (formerly Alpha Hydrox) makes high quality skincare products based on *science*, not gimmicks. This spot correcter uses all the scientifically validated and supported ingredients, so it really is one's best bet at fighting age spots/brown spots. I have a few small brown spots on my face that I'm treating, and one tube has lasted me over 6 months (and I apply pretty regularly and liberally, though admittedly I miss days).

I am sure it is because of this product as they have been sitting on my face for a good few months with no change
This actually works... I have a few stubborn acne scars and since starting to use this cream about a week ago, I can see that they are disappearing. I am sure it is because of this product as they have been sitting on my face for a good few months with no change. I recommend this product %100.
