This 8.5" diameter dome lamp is made of heavy gauge painted aluminum. Ceramic socket can be used with incandescent bulbs, ceramic heat emitters, and compact fluorescent bulbs. Rated up to 150watts.

Review: I like to use over my freshwater aquarium - I didnt like the "clip" style, so drilled a couple of holes to hang over my aquarium. Yes, I am aware that people say not to use over water, but the light is easily a couple of feet above the aquarium and all my fish and plants are happy. I recommend this over LED because your fish and plants need UV for health benefits. At the time, the price was very good. Less than $10.

The 8.5 is better than the 5.5 because it provides bigger light bulbs to fit and light to have a bigger shine radius. The only issues I have on these lamps is the ceramic top of the lamp is always crooked and if you try and unscrew it to fix it, it gets more crooked. My second issue is that the clamps on the lights are really hard to assemble and the instructions make no sense, I had to watch a youtube video on it. I highly recommend this product instead of spending around 20-30 dollars on repti-zoo products, this is a great lamp!

**Q: Has anyone used this with a ceramic heat emitter?  If so, how was it?**
A: It works really well. I've used it with 75W, 100W, and 150W ceramic heat emitters. Keep in mind their 5" is rated for 75W, so go beyond that at your own risk. (The socket says 250V/660W, and an 18AWG wire should be fine up to 1200W.)

**Q: Does it come with a bulb?**
A: No, bulb is not included. Package contains the fixture (with attached reflector bowl) and clamp.

**Q: How long is the power cord?**
A: I wanna say like 7-8 feet ( like a lamp cord .

**Q: Has anyone tried using with a smart plug? Does it work?**
A: Mine is connected to a thermostat, which controls it based on the temperature in the enclosure, and it works.

I usually wouldn't write a review for something that has 7500 reviews, but this is a very nice quality lamp. Has a heavy porcelain socket, most of these have a metal socket and the nut that holds the shade on is thin metal. The threads are shallow and if it gets a little abuse the shade flops around and it's hard to tighten. Has an on/off switch on the cord which is kind of nice, only wish that the cord was a little longer.
