The BMW lighting engineers must have completely underestimated (by a factor of 1000) the level of luminescence required to trigger the ambient “cool factor”. The pre-LCI’s ambient lights are just incredibly dim (which is why I had never even noticed that the car had them). When I saw the YouTube video, I literally ran out to my car, turned on accessory mode and the parking lights, and then had to look (per the video) to verify that there was indeed lighting there. These were SO simple to install. It took a few seconds to figure out which way the correct direction, but once you figure it out they take about 1 minute/door. I will be honest and say that I was hoping for the best, but expectations were low due to the simplicity of install and pieces. I am floored!!!! I installed these outside (because I needed more light, & I wanted to be sure the strips were not visible during the day), so of course I could not see how well they worked, but the minute I pulled into the garage and turned out the lights - the change is EPIC!!!! It honestly looks like I actually installed new LED ambient lighting. These fit seamlessly under the door's trim, are lit evenly and without any "dead" or dim spots. Also just in case you are wondering, this does come with four strips, so the rear doors match the front. That being said, this was a Prime purchase so I felt secure in giving it a try. I found the product to be of a high quality, and was easy to install (I searched YouTube for instructions). I do agree that it is expensive given that ultimately it is 4 simple strips of plastic, however the results are well worth the cost, so I am 100% happy with the value.
