Very nice. Fit my old Dremel 2100.
I just started wood carving and was just holding the Dremel to carve with. A person I watch (Jordy Johnson) suggests the Dremel Flex Shaft so after a week of carving without one I ordered it. Fit right up to my real old Dremel (2100) My next order is the 4300. Anyway, fit my old Dremel perfectly, I broke it in as suggested and spent the day carving a lot of Aspen wood. It is so much nicer and easier holding the flex Shaft instead of t the entire Dremel. I do wish it was a bit longer like 42-48 inches long but I'm sure that would be a huge workout for a Dremel. This works and makes carving much nicer. I would say a must have if your going to start carving.

An Old Dremel Gets a New Lease on Life
My wife has a Dremel that's old enough to have stories to tell, so I wasn't entirely sure how well this attachment would work with it. As it turns out, it fit perfectly and worked right from the start. The biggest advantage is comfort and control. Instead of holding the weight of the entire tool, you're working with a much lighter handpiece, which makes detailed work feel more natural and less tiring. The difference was noticeable almost immediately. The flex shaft runs smoothly, installation was straightforward, and it has performed exactly as hoped. It's one of those accessories that doesn't just add a feature—it changes how you use the tool. If you have an older Dremel sitting in the shop, don't assume it's too old for this attachment. Ours wasn't, and the combination works beautifully.

Button Lock may Temporarily Malfunction
I'm using the Dremel 3000. The button lock on the flex shaft tool may temporarily malfunction or catch within a half-locked position, causing significant strain on the flex shaft tool shaft and Dremel motor. May also hear the clicking noise of the button shaft lock on the flex shaft tool handle rattling. To fix, stop the tool and operate the flex shaft tool lock button thoroughly several times, ensuring adequate locking/unlocking of the shaft. I also squirted a little "Dry Lube" lubricant into the lock button mechanism, ensuring the button had enough good lubricant. Again, symptoms of the flex shaft tool lock button malfunctioning: 1) May hear a constant rattling/clicking like noise from the flex shaft tool handle, near the flex shaft tool shaft lock button. 2) When operating the Dremel motor, may need require increasing torque greater than 2 or greater than 4, for the shaft to start rotating. Another con, the directions are extremely very small fine print, too small for us older folks to read, including multiple languages. Should be a manual/pamphlet for each language... cheap manufacturing of the instructions, and yet they still desire the end user read and follow safety instruction? Directions also seem to omit explicitly indicating to switch the shaft nut with the included shaft nut! I thought the manufacturer was being nice, and including extra parts.... foolish me! The included shaft nut has the required square female end, for properly engaging with the flex shaft. Other than the previously mentioned, everything else works as should, making using the tool much easier with likely far less hand fatigue due to being narrower and more light weight.

Must-Have Attachment for Precision Work
I’ve been using the Dremel Flex Shaft attachment for over a year now, and it has completely changed the way I use my rotary tool. If you do any kind of detailed work, this is a game-changer. Flexibility & Precision The biggest advantage of the flex shaft is how much easier it makes fine, detailed work. Instead of holding the full-weight rotary tool, you can use just the lightweight handpiece, which gives you much better control. This is especially useful for engraving, polishing, and intricate carving. I’ve used it on wood, metal, and resin, and it handles all of them well. Ease of Use & Comfort Attaching the flex shaft to my Dremel was straightforward. It screws onto the tool easily, and the inner cable rotates smoothly. The handpiece is much more comfortable to hold for long periods compared to gripping the bulky main tool. However, I’d recommend hanging your Dremel on a stand or hook to prevent strain on the cable. Durability & Maintenance So far, the build quality seems solid. The cable runs smoothly without any kinks or resistance. Just make sure to keep it properly lubricated as recommended in the manual to extend its lifespan. Some users have reported issues with the inner cable breaking over time, so I’ll update this review if I run into any problems. Things to Consider • The flex shaft does get warm after extended use, so take breaks if needed. • You’ll need to occasionally lubricate the inner cable for smooth operation. • Make sure your Dremel has a high enough RPM rating for optimal performance. Final Verdict If you do a lot of precision work with your Dremel, this attachment is absolutely worth it. It makes carving, engraving, sanding, and polishing so much easier and more comfortable. Just take care of it properly, and it should last a long time.

Great accessory
Great thing to have for hard to reach places. Very flexible and allows the main motor unit to be in a different location. Fits in the case that came with my original Dremel unit

I Keep Coming Back to This Attachment — Can’t Work Without It!
I’ve bought several of these over the years — not because they break (they last a long time), but because I use them so much I like to keep extras on hand for different workstations. The Dremel Flex Shaft makes all the difference for precision work. Whether I’m doing metal engraving, wood carving, or jewelry polishing, it gives me way more control than holding the tool itself. The comfort grip is great for long sessions — no hand fatigue, even when I’m doing detailed carving or polishing tiny parts. It connects easily to my Dremel, and the 36-inch cable gives me plenty of room to work without feeling tethered or awkward. Swapping out bits is easy, and the shaft stays flexible without feeling flimsy. If you do any kind of fine detail work, this is a total game-changer. Honestly, I wouldn’t even think about using my Dremel for engraving or sanding without this attachment anymore.

Dremel tool flex shaft.
I just used this to grind out old glue in plastic inserts holes in the playfield of a 1978 playboy pinball game I'm restoring the playfield on. With ot and the Demel tool stand O bought on Amazon I was able to grind the holes comfortably. If I had to hold the tool in my hand it would have been extremely uncomfortable. It performed exceptionally. I'd highly recommend buying one.

Game changer!
This thing is fantastic! Absolutely took my carving to another level. So much easier to use than the bulky original Dremel. I would recommend having a space to work where you can hang the Dremel from as I tend to move around a lot with my work. It's small lightweight and ergonomic design make it so you can work for longer stretches without fatigue. Won't go back and would highly recommend.
