Tascam DR-05X Portable Audio Recorder, usb2.0

Good sound quality. Takes a while to learn functions.

What can you say about Tascam? They basically own the recording industry when it comes to hardware! You can always expect a level of craftsmanship and quality from them, and this device is no exception. I have been in the music industry for over 40 years. I have used so many different brands, that I couldn't even begin to list them all. Some of the brands that stand out (for me), are: MAUDIO, KORG, Yamaha, Mackie, and of course, Tascam. Behringer and Digitech also make some great hardware for those who are on a budget. This Digital Recorder is amazing! It's very easy to use, and its quality is perfect for experienced engineers, as well as the absolute beginner. The menus are easy to navigate (although you will need to brush up on your audio frequencies and other settings), recording and playback are a breeze, creating folders for different projects is made fairly easy, and the two stereo microphones that record on two channels works very, very well! Besides audio recording, I also dabble in Paranormal Investigation. The recorder has built in noise cancellation that works amazing for audio recording, but it can easily be turned off in the menu, which is perfect for capturing those little voices that we don't hear with our own ears. The sensitivity is far greater than the average digital recorder you buy for $30.00, and with the stereo recording, you're able to determine where the sounds are coming from. Tascam makes a cheaper model, but it has less features than this device. I would highly recommend this device for those entry level people who can't afford hundreds of dollars to spend on a higher end device.

Super clean audio. Used this to record my daughter's piano concert, and it's absolutely wonderful!

I use them with a lav mic to back up my video recording - great sound

After three months of trying to follow manual instructions, this electronic junk doesn’t actually record. Hit the record button and the meter just goes wild. I tried once to make use of a bad recording but the unit was not even detected by my computer to transfer incorrectly recorded files. Everything about this says Failure. Trash.

Ho preso questo registratore con microfoni stereo incorporati perché mio figlio suona il pianoforte e quando dovevamo fare delle registrazioni professionali per i concorsi, l'audio non veniva mai bene per via della risonanza dell'ambiente. Ho acquistato anche dei piccoli dadi filettati per fissarlo sull'asta del microfono. Appena montato e posizionato alla giusta distanza ho fatto la prima registrazione. Quando l'ho confrontata con l'audio in presa diretta mi sono accorto della grande differenza di qualitàe di rumori. Le prime registrazioni purtroppo eranno un pochino troppo metalliche perché avevo regolato il volume in ingresso a 32 su 50 appena sotto il picco rosso di distorsione. L'ultima registrazione l'ho regolato a 22 e il suono è venuto più caldo. Logicamente abbassando il volume in registrazione migliora la qualità ma poi in post produzione bisogna bilanciare di qualche dB. Ma la qualità resta buonissima. Inoltre non pesca pochissimo i rumori circostanti con il volume più basso. I file vengono registrati su miniSD e si possono trasferire al pc o direttamente dal registratore tramite cavo usb oppure estraendo la scheda sd e mettendola in un lettore. Il registratore funziona a batterie ed è di semplice utilizzo. Logicamente se lo usate per migliorare l'audio dei vostri video, come faccio io, in post produzione dovrete riaccoppiare l'audio registrato dal Tascam con il video. Per farlo basta che battete un piccolo ciack all'inizio per sincronizzare audio e video. Altrimenti potete farlo confrontando le forme d'onda. Io utilizzo avid, premiere o after effects. Devo dire che con 100 euro non mi sarei mai creduto di avere questi risultati. Anche l'insegnante di pianoforte è rimasta contentissima.
