Super Human: The Bulletproof Plan to Age Backward and Maybe Even Live Forever : Asprey, Dave: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Great anti-ageing tips with some controversial aspects - Ageing Backwards - This is quite a tall claim but it is not unusual for Dave Asprey to make claims like these. He intends to live to 180 and is constantly trying out ways to improve his health and his age potential. In this book, he puts together his thinking on how we can improve our longevity. It is an easy read, even though there is lots of science explained in it, Dave explains it in quite simple and easy to understand language. It is structured well. It is basically put into three parts: - Part 1:Don't Die - This is where he describes the four main killers - Heart Disease, Alzheimer's, Diabetes and Cancer. He discussed his 7 pillars of ageing and discusses food sleep and light. - Part 2:Age Backwards - This is where he discusses several ideas around Brain health, Heavy metals, Ozone, Fertility, Teeth and Biome - Part 3:Heal like a Deity - He finishes off by talking about the latest research around Stem Cells and supplements for skin. The last chapter is all about Performance Enhancing Drugs and this is where there is lots of controversy in what he says. Each part has easy to read chapters and it finishes with a summary he calls- Bottom Line. This outlines the key recommendations and Hacks. The recommendations are for supplements, Strategies (e.g. lighting, sleep) or devices. There is a comprehensive set of notes citing his references. Whilst there are things in the book that may upset someone e.g. advocating prescription/performance-enhancing drugs which should obviously be approached with caution. However, there are some great tips which can really help transform your health. He has been talking about Ozone, IV's and NAD+ for enhancing mitochondrial function. If you now research in the UK, lots of these treatments have started to be offered. I am also looking at these and I really think they can make a massive difference in helping improve health. Dave is a Maverick and sometimes there can be mixed views about what he thinks. Some of the things in the book are not easily done and can be expensive. I think he could have a done a better job of almost outlining what you could do as an absolute minimum and rank these biohacks especially if you are not able to afford many of them. That said, I think there is lots of great stuff in the book and implementing even a few of these ideas can make a big difference. I am therefore giving 5 stars. I am looking to use this knowledge and also looking forward to Ben Greenfield's book - Boundless which will be out in January 2020. It is an exciting time to be alive with so many findings to enhance longevity and I look forward to learning more about these and seeing what I can apply to improve the quality and longevity of my life and those in my life. Review: Great content alas awful presentation - I already had a kindle version of Super Human and wanted a printed hardback copy to add notes and highlight. The cover and sleeve are immaculate its only when you open it up it all goes wrong. The quality of the paper and print is the cheapest you can imagine. This is a real low budget offering which is a real shame. I would have been willing to pay double for nice paper, font and quality printing. This is the second time this had happened to me and I am sad to say it's the same author. I am not sure why Dave Asprey chooses to go cheap it certainly wonโt win many friends.

Invaluable information for anyone who wants to take control of their health and wellbeing
I found this book to be a great way to navigate all of the confusing and contradictory information around how to manage your health and what actually works. It's a bit trial and error and I am now staring to find what works for me, alongside bulletproof this book is just another source of valuable information to help take control of your own health and wellbeing. I also prefer that dave asprey is doing the audio book and not a professional narrator, it's more personal. Thats one of the things I'm grateful for today.

Exiting and intriguing
Just finished reading this, I found it very interesting there is so much information there and it is very well written I believe as it is broken down into sections and sums everything up at the end of each chapter and the scientific concepts are clearly explained. There are some pretty radical methods for brain enhancements and longevity (some I want to try) with varying levels of accessibility, over all I really enjoyed and will read more of his books.

Read it!
Yes, I know Mr A can be irritating to some, but you will learn so much from any of his books. He is a bio-hacking genius. Of course, there are no real long term studies of his theories, but I and members of my family have lost weight, feel great and are most importantly enjoying the whole experience. It can be expensive, but Dave does his best to suggest cheaper alternatives. I combine Daveโs recommendations with Dr Longoโs FMD (intermittent fasting diet) and that saves me money and lotโs of time.

Not really a plan
I think the title is a little misleading there isnt a 'plan' instead there is an exhaustive list of suggestions. Fasinating read but as usual from American authors in these types.of books everything is US centric and alot of what he is recommending cant be obtained in the ROW.

100 the new norm?
If you are following Dave's work you probably know that he intends to live to at least 180. This book is an amazing guide that allows us to get closer to that number and after reading it I am confident that we can push the new norm from 70-80 to at least 100 and if you are serious even push until 120. Not quite 180 but 40-50 years extra that's a lot and maybe even set up the next generations to reach 180 and even beyond.

After reading Super Human, I had to independently research as much as I could, to see if I could verify the information Dave provided in this book. I found it hard to believe that there was so much knowledge around these products and technologies, but most of us were being kept in the dark. So far, everything I've researched has backed up the information in the book, which blows my mind! There's so much information, I couldn't possibly take it all in 1 read, so I've bought the audio version and the Kindle, and I'm on my 3rd read now, as well as searching the Kindle version whenever I have a question on a supplement etc. Compulsory reading for anyone who wants to limit the effects of aging, and maximise their older years (the number and quality of those years).
