A: Benzocaine as it says on back of the box that is posted on the Amazon page, all you have to do is click on the second image and there it is.

**Q: Why is it considered “nighttime “?**
A: I honestly don’t know, all ingredients are the same. I can only guess they are trying to imply that it will stay on the tooth throughout the night. I’m assuming that is what “nighttime” means. Sorry I’m not much help.
