Seiko Kinetic Capacitor 3023-24X

I actually sent my watch to Seiko USA service center with 2 problems: one was the watch wouldn't hold charge, and the other issue was the crown wouldn't screw down. They sent the watch back to be with neither issue fixed, stating that they did not have a replacement case --presumably for the crown problem. But they didn't fix the capacitor issue either! Annoyed, I looked at videos online about how to change the capacitor, and ordered the capacitor here. It's the right part for my Seiko 5J22. It was medium hard to replace the capacitor. First, my case back was screwed on really tight and was hard to remove. I have a 3-prong case back removal tool too. Eventually, with the back removed, the next issue is my precision screwdrivers weren't fine enough for the rotor screw or the capacitor screws. Looking again online, people recommend filing down your screwdrivers to make them sharper to fit the screws. I used 150 and 600 grit sandpaper to file down my screwdriver, and afterwards it worked with the screws. After replacing the capacitor, I reversed my steps to close everything back up. So far, so good. After a few shakes, the watch seems to be charged and keeping time. I'll deal with the crown later-- I suspect there's some crud in it. But I'm happy the watch runs.

Arrived as expected. Although I ordered the repair tool kit as well, the screws were too small for my old eyes so I took it to my local jeweler and paid $10 to have them put the watch back together. All is working great now.

Didn't meet my needs. Just didn't fit my kinetic watch. But, I'm sure it will work on others.

Hey my watch actually works now-- This fit my seiko kinetic like a glove and saw a video on youtube on replacement.

Watch in question is a Seiko 5J22-0A20, which I purchased new in 2001. The original capacitor lasted about fifteen years. This capacitor lasted about twelve months. It is 100% a good fit for this model (the part number is correct), but it will not last. Buy from somewhere else.
