I've no idea how accurate it is but it certainly gives me a useful indication of very dry, medium wet and too wet. Having said that it might be much more accurate, but as I said I can't know for sure and I've nothing to compare it with. For the price, I would recommend it.

When probed the first time the gauge was on 3 (dry) so put Bonsai in a tub of water and after just 10 minutes of soaking the gauge showed moist, then checked a number of other plants/palms etc and the gauge was amazingly accurate, this is an excellent tool especially when you have Bonsai as it’s hard to tell what the moisture is at root level. 👍

Looks good, well packaged but does it work. NO. ti's could have ruined my plants. Obviously inaccurate. Even wrapped it in a soaked flannel. Gauge did not even move to moist. I had started adding water to plants before I realised how inaccurate it was. Refund would have my return postage cost deducted. Before I received it What a waste of my time and money outlay. TerribleDON'T BUY

If you immerse the probe in water it says it is wet, but otherwise the probe reads dry at all levels of soid hydration. So it doesn't really help with knowing when to water plants. Perhaps mine is faulty.
