My 6yr old son has been reading these since Kindergarten when he was heavily reliant upon pictures to help him infer the words and meanings of words. Even now, he still loves these Ricky Ricotta books and has finished most of the series. Unfortunately he can devour one whole book in about an hour which makes them expensive reads at $6 a piece. But I try to encourage his love of reading so I don’t mind so much. He loves the exciting story lines and is so proud that he can finish them so quickly. He also loves reading them to his 3yr old little sister and she loves listening them as well. I highly recommend these books for 5-8yr olds who are struggling to develop a love for reading. The exciting story lines will keep your little emerging reader engaged and the plethora of colorful illustrations will make it easier for even a struggling reader to read difficult words.

These books are on the shorter side, but the Ricky Ricotta series is one of a very few series of books my 7 year old, who was a stubborn reader, would actually pick up and read on his own. He loves to read these books to me and tell me all about Ricky Ricotta's latest adventures. I credit these books with encouraging my son's newfound love of reading by making reading fun for him with stories that entertain him - and the few flip book style pages that seem to be incorporated into each book.

My son was first drawn to the illustrations in Ricky Ricotta/Mighty Robot series but I held out buying the books because I thought they were "glorified" comic books. However, much to my surprise when I actually read it myself, it was quite hilarious.The best part was that it was easy enough for my 5 year old to read on his own (with a little help), which was really a major coup as I could not get him to start reading chapter books.We ended up buying all 7 books and he has already read 4 of them in 2 weeks!The author's website also has some great games.

,My kindergartners LOVE these books, BUT the binding STINKS!!!! These books have pages falling out immediately and that is my only complaint. Please someone fix the binding!!!!!!

Our 8 year old LOVES the Mighty Robot series! Our only problem is the binding- the books tend to fall apart, a page slips out...then another...then you have a frustrated 8 year old. We have the entire series and it has happened with nearly every book. BUT, we LOVE the stories!

Love these books for my 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade striving readers. Easy to read and supportive of readers who struggle.

My 8 YO son was a HUGE Captain Underpants fan but he had read them all and needed something new. I bought the Ricky Ricotta books and he really liked them as well. He said they are "not quite as great, but they are very, very good." I would recommend these books to anyone who has a child who loves to read or one who is struggling. The author has a way of pulling the children in and they just sit and giggle through the whole thing!

Its very nice to read entire book at a stretch with good pictorial presentation.

As a parent I am very happy with this series. My son is in Grade 2 and he was wanting to read chapter books all by himself. This series was exactly what he was looking for. Its funny and fast paced, but also is written at a Grade 2 level and includes full colour pictures on every page. Between this series and Captain Underpants, Dav Pilkey is his favourite author, and we almost own every book in both series..Review by my 8 year old son: This book was pretty good and I loved reading it. I want to buy all the books in the series because Dav Pilkey is really good author. Ricky Ricotta is a funny and brave character.
