Review: Nearly two years on… and still excellent - This little speaker has never let me down. Coming up to two years since purchased and not one issue in all that time. Today the speaker was on at just under half volume for 8 hours straight, still plenty of battery left at the end (again, this is after almost 2 years). Bluetooth connectivity is flawless, instant and easy. The controls on the top of the speaker are easy to press and fairly intuitive, meaning you can just reach over and adjust the volume or skip tracks without looking. Asides from a bit of rain I can’t comment on just how waterproof this speaker is, but a small amount of rain caused no issues. This has been used many times at get togethers with friends and family and has never failed to impress. The quality of the sound is fantastic, and it can get surprisingly loud. There is a bass boost button which noticeably improves bass, however where this speaker really shines is in its mids and highs (top tip - to improve the bass, position the speaker in the corner of a room, it makes a big difference). I have since upgraded to the ‘soundcore motion boom plus 2’ which has monstrous bass in comparison. It is also much larger and far more expensive. As far as value for money goes I believe that this speaker is unbeatable. It’s highly portable, small, sounds fantastic and (having been dropped multiple times over the years) appears to be indestructible. We have other ‘bigger’ brands of Bluetooth speaker in the house and to my ear the ‘motion +’ is easily the best of the bunch.
Review: Unbeatable in this form factor. - I bought this speaker for my sister a couple of Christmases ago. I personally own the cheaper, more robust motion boom which impressed my nephew so much he bought one when prices were low(student) on the strength of it being capable of deep enough bass to reproduce cello properly (as far as I know he plays sax and piano??). My sister emphasised portable but I told her nothing under beercan size can really reproduce bass for classical listening thinking of the rienok s1 mini I listen to at work (almost as good as a jbl flip but way cheaper!) before deciding the rienok is an alright speaker for noisy environments but not for home listening. I ummed and ahhed between the motion boom and the motion plus, either of which beats a JBL charge for way less. (later soundcore options seem to have lost their way) and decided that for my sister, a highly graded musician with very good ears who'll mostly use it around her house and appreciate the smaller form factor it was worth the extra money. When I visited her the following Easter I found My brother-in-law had been so impressed he'd bought one himself and told me it was so loud he'd used it for sharing music in his church which I assume was for an evening service for 20-50 on the same side of the aisle (He's the vicar of quite a big old vaulted church with nice acoustics which I refuse to believe 30 watts can fill properly!). When I visited them holidaying in a rental flat this summer I noticed they'd both packed their speakers for the holiday, and my sister's was the stained and dented one so they can take a licking. They have been known to pair their speakers but mostly keep one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom regularly using each other's. Apparently the separation and angling of the tweeters fills a room quite nicely if you just put it on the side and point it at yourself. My motion boom works best at 45 degrees in a corner where the passive radiators on the sides can bounce the bass off the walls. When visiting the vicarage, if one of my nieces or nephews is sharing music from a phone speaker my sister will tell them to put it on a proper speaker or not play it at all, glad I got her the high fidelity option! Beware the modern option of cheap component speakers packed with claimed AI software which heavily rely on processing the soundwaves into something they can handle without sounding strained instead of actually being able to play full range sounds properly! All speakers are a compromise. Small form factor speakers will never create deep bass but the neodymium magnets in the motion plus really seem to help. It is unrealistic to expect a single diaphragm to create all vibrations from 20-20,000 hz at the same time but the titanium seems to help my motion boom. Stereo from a mono speaker is going to lose something in the processing. (JBL flips and smaller) It doesn't matter how many extra speakers you stick in a box it will never achieve the stereo separation of two boxes when listening to music which actually uses it. (Later soundcore motion range) Passive radiators seem to have been invented as a way to make speakers waterproof without losing all the bass, I think having properly shaped holes in properly sized cabinets works better soundwise. Bookshelf generally beats portable. Audiophiles are never happy but at least this gives them an app with an equaliser! For it's size and portability, I simply don't think this can be beaten for sound quality and if anything this size comes close to it's volume I bet it sounds awful by comparison. There are nice speakers and there are speakers that you can lose an evening to just listening to all your favourite songs because they sound so nice. My motion boom was the latter and the audiophiles seem to be keeping the price of the motion plus higher which wasn't the case when they first came out!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you pair two of these in stereo mode?**
A: Yes, and you don't need the app to do this.  Power on both speakers and press and hold the Bluetooth button for about 3 seconds on the 'main' speaker (connected via Bluetooth to your device), then press and briefly hold the Bluetooth button on the other speaker; the stereo-pairing should then set up with a confirmation 'three-note' sound on both.  Both speakers then connect to each other in stereo-mode every time they are both powered on.  Both speakers can also control the volume/playback transport/power-off in sync.

**Q: Can you keep this plugged in and "online" for use with Echo?**
A: It is possible to use while connected and charging, however, like most rechargable devices, this will prompt persistent recharge cycles that will kill the battery in no time.
This can produce "unexpected" behaviour, like turning off, or failing to draw sufficient current to maintain audio quality.
So, while you _can_ do it, you probably shouldn't.

**Q: Will they make different colour versions of these?**

**Q: Is this true stereo or just the same sound from both left and right channels, ie mono? Many thanks.**
A: I dont know what technology is used but the soundscape seems substantially better, to me  when using 2 speakers-not just twice as loud. There is a noticeable spatial effect.-Hope this helps, I have just been listening to the same music through 1 and then 2 speakers to compare

I purchased 2 of these and they connected perfectly and with ease to give a a great stereo sound. By far the best sound quality I have come across in portable Bluetooth speakers in this price range. I downloaded the Soundcore App which enabled me to customise the sound settings which made a massive difference. It's heavy for it's size, solidly built but still asthetically pleasing. I am well pleased with this purchase!
