Are these boots lightweight?

Not really. Not as light as some but not as heavy either. These are somewhere in between.

What's the break in time and how it is done? First time purchasing a steel toe.

With these Wolverines, there isn't much break in time compared to the all leather steel toe boots I now wear. I wear all of my new steel toe boots around the house, usually an hour or 2 a day for the first week before I wear them to work for a full shift. I also crouch for a minute or 2 every 20-30 minutes to stretch them. You'll be able to get a feel for them after doing this for a couple of days. You'll notice if they rub your toes a little or the heel is still stiff. The one thing I found with these Wolverines is that they feel more like a hiking boot than a work boot, which is a plus for comfort.
