Wanted it specifically for kitchen use
This review is for the kitchen fire extinguisher. I based this purchase strictly on wanting a small, handy fire extinguisher specifically for kitchen use. I happen to know the classifications and uses for different types of extinguishers but my wife doesn't, so I wanted to take the guesswork out of a time-sensitive event. I bought this and mounted it at the top of my basement stairs which is in close proximity to the kitchen and easily accessible if needed. It is compact and has a low-profile. Not too heavy to handle and operate. Most importantly it is specifically intended for oil/grease and electrical fires (B-C). The other deciding factor was that it has a pressure indicator. I was considering some of the aerosol-type extinguishers but they have no way of indicating they are still pressurized. The last thing you want to do is "hope" the unit will work when needed (over time, extinguishers may lose pressure). This has an approved test button that you occasionally press to ensure the unit is still pressurized (it does NOT discharge any agent - it simply tests for adequate pressure). You should NEVER test extinguishers by slightly discharging them - the nozzle seal will be broken and it will slowly lose pressure. It will be rendered useless shortly after such a test. Overall this seems to meet our needs and we hope it's never needed. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, inexperience or failing to read the product details prior to purchasing. Writing valuable reviews helps pay it forward.

Perfect for most kitchen fires.
This mounts to wall with a black retainer. It's easy to pull out of the mount, but still secure enough to withstand a light impact without dropping the extinguisher. This is rated for grease and electrical fires, and has a feature many small extinguishers lack: a way to check pressure in the form of a little green button that can be depressed. If it pops back up, the charge is still good, and if not, it's time to replace the unit. The extinguisher has enough of a load to handle a pretty good blaze. The scant downsides: Like most small extinguishers, it cannot be refilled after use and will lose pressure over time if used without emptying the contents completely. It's a powder based extinguisher, and the powder is conductive if wet- so it's not going to suppress arcing on wet electronics, and may actually make things worse in that one scenario.

SMALL BUT MIGHTY - 5yrs later & it worked!
I purchased this in Dec. 2019, yesterday my downstairs neighbor set their oven on fire and I ended up using mine.. so I'm definitely repurchasing because it proved a min 5yr shelf life and it was super easy to use (at 40yo I've only ever used a fire extinguisher one other time) highly recommend. Also SMALL BUT MIGHTY. Not much bigger than some of my water bottles, I've had it on my counter at my last two apartments now because I lost the mounting bracket to the wall of my old house ๐คฆโโ๏ธ๐

Perfect for kitchen.
Only gave 4 stars simply because I haven't needed to use yet. Thank goodness! These are small enough to slip into any Corbet, cupboard or pantry. If I catch my kitchen on fire I'll update my review.

Please Be Safe!
I bought this product back in 2023, thinking I would never need to use it but I had just bought my first house and wanted to make sure that I was safe โjust in caseโ. Yesterday the lightbulb in my oven shorted out and started a fire that went up through the spot where the elements plug in (on an electric stove) and also started to come out from under the display panel. This product genuinely saved my house and potentially the lives of myself and my pets. I always kept mine on the top of my refrigerator. Itโs small and unobtrusive and I Very Much Recommend having this in your house/kitchen. Iโm actually going to purchase a new one right after I get done with this review.

Not Just For Kitchens!
Bought this 3 years ago, and today was its day to shine. I live in a large city & happened to see a plastic trash bin releasing smoke next to a wooden fence and electric pole down the alley. Grabbed this gem and was able to extinguish the embers & fire next to the fence, where the base of the bin had melted through. Using this product, I was able to get the unit contained enough to safely move it away from any spread points. Almost all property savedโฆ Logically, it couldnโt take out the burning embers and trash bag that were in the bin. Letโs just say, that required the fire department, which is beyond the expected scope of this product. Not going to lie, I struggled with the cap, but that problem solved itself when I dropped it. No harm, no foul. Excellent product distribution & pressure, surprisingly good quantity, and it does quash immolations.

Lifesaver (literally!)
Thank God I had this when hot ashes were put in my outdoor compost bin, creating quite a fire. This thing put it out in a matter of seconds-- and it was a pretty big fire. Ordering another one now!

An essential item!
This purchase replaces the expired extinguishers ... yeah, about 30 years expired. I know, don't say it. I decided I should get them because .... duh! Yeah, aside from the obvious, I bought a new gas stove after my old gas stove died. I wanted to be prepared. There's no reason to think the new stove will try to set the house on fire, but right now it's a stranger in my home and I want to be armed in case it acts up when my daughter cooks Thanksgiving dinner. This will be the real trial test for the stove, the turkey hours and the stove top cooking. I can't say anything about to the extinguisher, except to say that it fits the storage holder that I installed 30 years ago. I know I'm supposed to test them, but when you test them they expire faster and there's no built in guage for monitoring the status. After testing, there's no way to know if there will be enough to put a fire out. Yes, they should be replaced often enough that I shouldn't have those concerns. I know that. We don't plan the fires and we should be prepared. Oh! I just thought ... I need to find out the proper way to dispose of the old ones. My daughter and I are going to try out the old ones, just to see how such old extinguishers work. Well, with these extinguishers, I guess you don't know how they work until you need to know that they do work.

Put out oven element electrical fire!
Did the job! But be prepared for the huge cloud of blue dust that will cover everything in your home. After you put the fire out, quickly shut every door you can, open the windows and have a dust mask near by. I went outside until the dust settled. Much better than fire and/or smoke damage though. And apparently itโs non toxic. Gave me a good reason to spring clean my entire home! I was able to clean the dust off of everything with a good rag and hot water. Soap is unnecessary. Vacuuming was problematic as the dust is so fine that it was coming out of the cracks of my Dyson vacuum cleaner. Also having a Dyson air purifier and several humidifiers in my home helped a lot.
