I think the overall content is good. The strategies to teach different word lists are repetitive, which is useful when being used for content practice. I am a junior high special education teacher and I bought this for one of my students who struggles with reading. If my student was merely needing concept practice, this would have been a good resource. I would have liked it to be organized with spelling, vocabulary, and reading comprehension practice bundled together for each word list instead of being completely separate sections within the workbook. Overall, I liked the content but I wish it would have flowed better for daily practice and would have had connectors for each concept area.

Great for summertime to keep kids minds sharp over the summer and preparing them for 3rd grade

We like these workbooks, they allow for a lot of independent work. The difficulty is appropriate I feel like. However, this is the first year where the key is not places at the back but every few pages - so the first one in each of these section has the key right next to the exercise. That makes no sence and I dislike that a lot. Move it to the back!

If you are a parent who worries about schools "teaching to the test" than you should supplement your child's learning with a Sylvan education. Besides, what's not to love about a 300-plus page workbook whose tagline is "Activities, exercises, and tips to help catch up, keep up, and get ahead."Because this is 3-books-in-1 (spelling, vocabulary and reading comprehension), this workbook looks intimidating. Tear out the pages you want to cover so your child doesn't feel overwhelmed by the enormous content. Although, catchy section titles like "Verbs, Verbing and Verbed," or "I Spy Long "I"" and "A, E, I, O, Uh?" along with "Phooling Around with "F"" and , "It's Not Easy Being "E"" will put your young scholar at ease.I loved working this book with my third grader. The English language, with its silent "e" words, homophones, compound words, palindromes, double entendres and onomatopoeia words should be fun to learn and share. This workbook covers the rules (consonants, vowels, apostrophes and root words) while also bringing the quirky, wacky and devilish side of the English language to life. Enjoy!

Bought this for 8 year old son going into third grade to use during the summer. It’s good but he found it a bit easy because he’d learned a lot of what was in the book while in second grade. Still recommend because it keeps their brain engaged.

I went to Sylvan as a kid and I love their programs for my own kids and have used them for a while. This is the first time I have EVER seen anything from them(or even anyone) where the answers are on the same page as the questions. Fix that and its perfect. Otherwise, whats the point?

Its great practice on some things my boy knew but also helped us learn new things while ensuring of school and during the summer. In school lots of things are not taught for the grade level I was surprised. So now with these books we will be on task

This is such a wonderful tool and supplement to what is being taught in the classroom. I have seen great improvement. The content material is great, the worksheets keep students engaged and more likely to remember techniques that will use during exam time. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to ensure the kids around them have the right tools to be successful with whatever the test or task is at hand.

This book is great practice for my 7 years old son. The instructions are good and easy for him to understand. I am planning to buy more Sylvan books for my daughter too. As always, shipping was speedy and it arrived in a timely manner.
