I went back and forth between this Fishman Platinum Pro, the LR Baggs Venue DI, and the Zoom AC-3 Acoustic Creator. The mandolin player in our band uses the LR Baggs and he has gotten great service out of it and it sounds good. There are complaints on the web about the tuner on the LR Baggs unit but he does not seem to have any issues. Some of these units are a bit slow to pickup on the tone when you switch it to tuner. You just have to be patient and let it find your note. But, I went with the Zoom AC-3 unit initially and it was working good and I had it all dialed in with my Taylor 414 playing through it into a Bose L1 system. After 1 month and a few days it started squealing through the PA and we could not get it to stop with any adjustments. Something failed in the unit. I was like 5 days past the return period but Amazon came through and allowed a refund on return! Amazon is the best :) So, with the refund I purchased the Fishman Platinum Pro as it really had the features I wanted and came with compression which is useful at times. I did have to order the Fishman power supply, which I would recommend, as some 9v supplies have different polarity than what is required so best to be safe for like $10. This unit has been really good. My Taylor 414 sounds outstanding through it and I also play a Guild M120 and a Taylor 510 through it that are not active pick-ups and it adjusts great and with the guitar lift switch and frequency/notch filter adjustments I can eliminate about any hum that I may get with any of these guitars. It is a bit more money than the Zoom unit and about the same as the LR Baggs but I would recommend it as the unit works great and is reliable (and the tuner seems spot on to me).

Use with double base and Fishman Full Circle transducer. Excellent sound and control. Still have the older Fishman Pro EQ Platinum (gray plastic) but this one is more controllable and has more features like boost preset among other things. LOVE THE BUILT IN TUNER. Only wish the tuner ran continuously - foot switch turns it on, but cuts off output. Probably an electronic noise thing or something. Fishman has the best stuff!

I was looking for a bass preamp I could use to plug directly into a PA, one that's quick and easy for when I sit in with friends at gigs. One small box I could just plug in to their PA and play. I wanted something that operated on a battery, so I wouldn't need to find a power outlet - pretty much every other similar box I looked at required mains power. And with an EQ and a decent compressor. Voilà, here it is. It has a switch that sets the EQ from guitar to bass frequencies, which I appreciate. The box is quiet and sounds very good, and it's very fast to set up. Bass into this box, and this box into the PA, and there's boom in the room!

Noisy. Tuner worked erratically. Not what I expected. I will be returning it.

This makes my upright bass sound amazing! I highly recommend this for all upright bass players.

I really like it. But after 2 years its starting to have issues. Not sure what's wrong with it but it keeps cutting out now. It let's signal through in bypass mode though...

Love this pedal. Tons of tonal control and the effect send and return option is great for controlling other pedals like delay, reverb, and even your looper. The 1/4” out and DI out are also great options. I will say, it is HUGE on the pedal board. So if you’re running a smaller acoustic rig like me, beware that it will eat up a lot of real estate.

Ich spiele seit mehr als 20 Jahren in verschiedenen Musikgruppen Geige, hauptsächlich Folk und Jazz. Tonabnahme und Mikrofonierung begleiten einen da ständig und im Laufe der Zeit habe ich fast alles durchprobiert: Kondensatormikrofon, Kontaktmikrofon, Stegtonabnehmer, Nanoflex, Piezotonabnehmer... Jedes System hat seine Vor- und Nachteile, und es muss jeder selbst herausfinden was ihm wichtig ist. Mikrofone neigen auf der Bühne zur Rückkopplung, Kontaktmikrofone (z.B. AKG C 411) müssen auf das Instrument geklebt werden und konnten klanglich nicht wirklich überzeugen. Nanoflex (Shadow SH 945 NFX) übertragen jedes am Korpus auftretende Geräusch wie Berühren oder Aufsetzen des Bogens sehr stark. Hängen geblieben bin ich zuletzt bei den Piezo Stegtonabnehmern Fishman V-200 und Shadow 941, von letzterem habe ich nur ein einzelnes Element in den Steg gesteckt (unter der E-Saite), weil ich damit ein subjektiv besseres Klangergebnis erzielt habe als mit beiden zugleich. Dieses System liefert unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen ein klanglich gutes und vom Pegel starkes Signal. Piezotonabnehmer sind extrem hochohmig und benötigen einen Eingang mit extrem hoher Impedanz, der von Mischpulten üblicherweise nicht zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Schließt man hier dennoch an kommt es zu starken Klangverzerrungen und das Instrument ist dann kaum noch als Geige zu erkennen... könnte auch eine Posaune sein ;-) Abhilfe kann man hier bedingt mit einer aktiven!!! DI-Box schaffen, zum Beispiel mit der Behringer Ultra-DI DI-100. Der Königsweg aber, und damit wären wir beim Thema, ist der Fishman Platinum Pro EQ. Seine Eingangsimpedanz liegt bei 10 Megaohm, was ihn für Piezotonabnehmer prädestiniert, er ist aber für alle anderen Systeme an Gitarre und Bass ebenso geeignet. Der unglaublich musikalische 3-Band Klangregler mit semiparametrischen Mitten bietet fantastische Möglichkeiten zur Optimierung des Pickups und ist mittels Umschalter zwischen Gitarre (= alle Melodieinstrumente) und Bass umschaltbar. Dazu gibt noch einen Brillianz Regler und einen Kompressor, Pegelanpassung, Boost Taste und Volume Regler, der ist allerdings nur am Klinkenausgang wirksam, der symmetrische Ausgang (XLR) liefert ein konstantes Signal. Ich betreibe das Gerät derzeit an einem Yamaha Mischpult und einem Säulensystem von LD Systems. Gegenüber allen bisher verwendeten Lösungen bietet der Fishman das beste Klangergebnis, einen Geigensound mit bisher ungekannter Wärme, Brillianz und Klangtreue. Nicht unerwähnt soll noch das eingebaute Stimmgerät bleiben, das mit seinem großen, beleuchteten LCD Display auch im Stehen problemlos abzulesen ist. Das Gehäuse ist wertig und robust und somit bestens für die Bühne geeignet, macht aber dennoch einen eleganten und feinen Eindruck. Schade finde ich, dass das Gerät mit Batterie oder optional mit einem Steckernetzteil betrieben werden muss und nicht über die Phantomspeisung des Mischpultes versorgt werden kann, wie das bei aktiven DI-Boxen der Fall ist. Das Gerät macht mir große Freude und ist aus meiner Sicht eine uneineingeschränkte Empfehlung für Bühne und Studio!

Investing in the Platinum Pro EQ DI Pedal is a worthwhile decision, especially considering its long-standing reputation. If your budget allows for this purchase, I highly encourage you to go for it!

Great product. Replaced a BBE Sonic Maximizer unit that had its proprietary power supply unit die. The Fishman takes a standard 9v wall wart which is desirable. Great tweakability to get great sounds. The tuner, built in boost, and compression alone in this unit is well worth the value. The notch filter is great at tuning out hums and noise. Very well built and refined. The BBE unit was good but the Fishman punches well above.
