Must Need
They replaced key components of a device that was sold to me defective on Amazon. I would have been out several hundred dollars in repairs if not for this plan. The manufacturer refused to help. I highly recommend a plant to protect your investment.

Best Warranty Available for the Price
I typically never buy a high-end piece of technology without having some sort of warranty, and my laptop was no exception. Sure enough, within a couple of years within buying the laptop, the display died and I could not get it working again. Since it was outside of the manufacturer's warranty and me having bought the 4 year warranty plan, I sent it in to Asurion claim services for assessment. It was deemed unrepairable (always make sure to back up your important data!), so they offered to send me an equivalent replacement laptop, but it wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was able to contact them to switch it to a reimbursement for the full purchase price of the laptop, so it has been a very worthwhile investment. $200 for a 4-year warranty is the best coverage I have seen, and the service at Asurion was relatively speedy and well worth the price (whole situation was resolved within a couple of weeks). I HIGHLY recommend getting this service for any piece of technology you buy, especially something you plan on using everyday like a laptop for school and/or work.

Great customer service, well worth the cost
This protection plan was well worth the price. I actually used it twice! The first time my laptop was able to be fixed. After filing the claim, within 3 days, I received a box and return label. It was repaired and returned to me within 2 weeks. The second time, I filed the claim on line, received the box in 2 days. I received text notifications verifying it got there and their approximate time frame for repairs. The next notification let me know they had to order parts so it would take a little longer to fix. About 5 days later I received a text that my laptop could not be fixed and they were sending me a check for the full purchase price ! I received the check with 5 days of the notification!

I regret buying this coverage
Bought this for an ASUS laptop. My laptop was dropped a short distance by TSA onto a counter at the airport but the laptop was still working, so thought no harm no foul. A few days later the laptop stops working completely. I went to file a claim with Asurion and I did not know if there was any physical damage. I FOLLOWED THE ASURION WEBSITE STEP BY STEP AND IT TOLD ME I WAS STILL IN WARRANTY, SO CONTACT ASUS. Okay, I did that whole painful process. Asus is awful btw. They misplaced my laptop, they're difficult to contact, the support website looks like it was built in the 90s, but fine I did it and wound up paying $100 for express shipping which did me no good at all since they were delayed in the repair time. Now it's been almost 4 weeks and I get a bill from ASUS indicating that they did find evidence of physical damage and I have a $300 repair bill. If I go through with the repair at ASUS, I'm $400 in the hole plus I previously paid for the $200 Asurion policy. I contact Asurion and their process is that you have to use their repair facility which is "allegedly" a certified ASUS repair partner. They would not be able to reimburse me if I went through the repair. Okay, well it will take a very long time to get that laptop back from ASUS, and I may have to pay for the return since it's not covered under warranty. So I would have to do that and then ship it out again to Asurion's vendor facility and wait what I assume will be a long time as laptop repairs can take quite a while. You cannot think of this like car insurance or anything you've ever dealt with before. I highly question why I should trust a third party repair facility and not the original manufacturer. Asurion wouldn't even cancel my policy and refund my money so I could recoup funds. Obviously, there are things I did not do well here due to lack of knowledge or awareness, but what really burns me is the whole reason why I went through ASUS for the repair is because I chose "laptop is no longer working" on the Asurion claims website and their bot automatically directed me to get service through ASUS per my warranty. The logic in this tool is faulty because there are clearly situations where the average consume would pick this option, and yet somehow there is unseen damage and the original manufacturer won't repair it without an extra fee. So no, I don't trust Asurion at all. Absolutely will not buy it again, and I buy a new computer every 1 - 2 years, so their loss.

Easy claim process and highly satisfactory resolution!
I tend to buy extended product warranties for major electronic purchases as a "just in case". In the past, I've purchased SquareTrade, but after a bad experience that my sister had with them and the fact that ST really raised their prices on their policies, I decided to try Asurion this time. Funnily enough, this is the first time I've ever had to actually use one of my policies, but Asurion made the process really easy. Granted, I'm a techy, so I had done a lot of the diagnostic work on my laptop before I called them to submit the claim. They started the claim then had me speak with their tech guy--something I fully anticipated. After spending 5 minutes going over what I had already tried, he admitted that I had done everything he would have recommended, then sent me back to Customer Service to finish submitting the claim. CS told me they would ship me materials to ship the laptop, and if the laptop could not be repaired, I would either get a new one or a reimbursement. Because it was my work laptop and I am a consultant who could not be without a working laptop, I was already planning on purchasing a new laptop that very day, so the idea of reimbursement was ideal. They sent me the shipping materials, including the box, UPS label, and a heavy-duty bubble-wrap envelope (I really liked it--I think I could have drop-kicked my laptop in that envelope and it would have been fine :) ). I packaged everything up and dropped it off at the nearest UPS store. They notified me by text and email when they had received it at the repair center. A couple days later, I received a call stating that a part (they didn't tell me which one) needed to be order to repair the laptop. Because it was going to take a month before the part would be in, they were going to just replace the laptop or reimburse me for it. Happy day for me! I received an email saying they had chosen a new laptop for me. Because I wanted the reimbursement instead, I called Asurion and told them I had already replaced the laptop and could I get the reimbursement instead. They said that was no problem and submitted the claim for reimbursement to their finance department. I received notification that the check is on its way. All in all, I am very happy with the result. I wished I could have been able to drop my laptop off at a local place so that I could speak with the tech folks and it would have been more convenient, but other than that I am very happy with the overall result. Needless to say, I have already purchased a new Asurion plan for my new laptop. :)

BUYER BEWARE! Quick approval of claim filed but still no reimbursement.
Update: it took 8 weeks to receive my reimbursement check, but it did finally arrive. Overall I am happy with the protection and would purchase again. Original review: When my 3 year old laptop crashed I was surprised that the extended warranty I had purchased was still in the warranty period. I skeptically filed the claim and when asked to return my laptop, I did so promptly. The very next day my claim was approved! However, that was the beginning of November. It is now over a month later and Asurion has informed me twice that my "check is in the mail." But it has yet to arrive. They say it could take 10 business days for it to arrive....but the first check should have been to me before Thanksgiving....it wasn't and still isn't. The 2nd check was to arrive last week, but it isn't here either. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Quick response with no hassles.
My computer broke, and they had me mail it into them at no cost to me. They looked at it and could not fix it. So they sent me a full refund for the purchase price. They did all of this very quickly and with no hassles. I will definitely use again on my next computer!
