Great router
I purchased this router a week ago, so I cannot comment about the longevity of it. I'm out of my element when it comes to IT since I don't really know what I'm doing or what to look for when it comes to IT-related devices, network, etc., but I took a chance on this since the reviews were pretty good overall. I was worried about the many poor reviews and the chance that I'd get one that didn't work, but I haven't been disappointed. I had a Cisco Linksys router that needed to be replaced which is why I bought this one. My connection is SO much better with this router. I would constantly get buffering and connection problems with Netflix and Plex, and my wifi status on both my laptop and Surface would switch to "Limited" pretty often. Even browsing on my phone was a pain and often I'd have to turn off the wifi. It got much, much worse over the last month. For now, though only a week old, this router has been great. The set up was quick and easy. I did it myself (and I'm not super tech savvy) within five minutes or so. The only problem I had with the set up was the cable that came with it; it didn't work. I swapped it with one I had lying around and it worked just fine. I was able to easily log into to the router using the internet and set up a static IP for my NAS (with A LOT of help from Google searches!) and that's worked well so far. I had no problem connecting all my devices and I have not experienced any problems with my connection. I have been able to watch things on Netflix with no buffering, no stopping for "internet connection" issues, no problems whatsoever. My download speed is also much faster. My phone can say connected to my wifi and I can browse quickly with no issues. It is seriously night and day with my connection. I understand it seems like this router is fantastic when it was actually the old one was just poor from the start, but for the money this router seems to be pretty great. I'm assuming this router acts like a router is supposed to so I have no complaints thus far. Once I've had it for a few months, I'll post an edit to this review stating whether it still works well or not at all as some people have claimed.

This is a dependable router, easy to set up, at a bargain price.
NEWSFLASH: An average computer user does NOT need to spend $200 on a wireless router! We do computer service and sales, and we constantly are asked what we recommend in wireless routers. Back in the day, almost all routers were under $100. Today, things have gone completely crazy! This unit, like most other routers, can handle up to 100 devices with ease, no drops, and little interference right out of the box. I set this one up in our busy store to test it in less than two minutes. Between wired and wireless devices, all sharing 100 MBPS cable internet service, I had 73 devices simultaneously connected and all doing something online with no noticeable drops in performance. Even our network specialist was impressed with the TL-WR940N performance. The range is admirable but not crazy. We connected wirelessly to devices up to 40 feet away through two walls with metal studs. If you have a large 3,000 square foot home with multiple stories (like ours), chances you're going to need a repeater even with that overpriced super range router. The FCC regulates the amount of power routers are allowed to transmit, so don't believe the hype. Yes, some produce a little stronger signal, but it's negligible at best. Bandwidth-wise, gamers are always complaining about lag (although it's usually a lame excuse for poor performance), so gamers should be hardwired. Your Smart TVs should also be hardwired if you intend to run the tiny bit of 4K content currently available. Honestly, I can't see the difference in 1080 and 4K, and we have Samsung's SUHD 4K Quantum Dot TV. A good wireless signal is enough to run 1080p Netflix streams, and this router does that just fine, transmitting about 30 feet with no drops through a complete episode of Better Call Saul while simultaneously streaming Pandora, Spotify, and lord knows whatever else those crazy techs were doing at the time. For under $30, this is a terrific deal. If you're concerned about reliability as poorly described in some of the negative reviews, buy two, and you'll still be well ahead of the game. We're a week into hours with occasionally heavy 24x7 usage, and it's performing flawlessly. Just bought a second WR940N that I will use at home - this will be our third router (the cable modem itself is a router that connects the first floor, a Linksys runs the kid's rooms upstairs with the gamer hard-wired, and this TP-Link will supply wireless to our outside patio, which is very important to the boss. Happy wife, happy life.

Forget warranty support. Save the headache and just buy a new one.
I have had this router 23 months. It has been a bargain router that has performed well. Easy to navigate the menus. No guest network option, but what do you expect for $28? It has been rock solid, until the last month. The wifi drops every 6-10 minutes. If you wait 30 seconds, it comes back. Naturally, I remembered I had a 2 year warranty! Warranty support has been somewhere between Purgatory and Idiocracy. I explain the problem, and send screenshots of the problem. They ask more questions. They do not understand basic router terminology. Being that the router is $28, it is pretty much disposable. I should have just bought a new one and skipped customer support. Looking to replace it with an ASUS router, as I can't let these open-mouth-breathing tech support guys win.

awesome router, awesome price
i bought this router for 2 main reasons. 1 is the price, its so affordable that its almost too good to be true. 2. i currently use another TPlink wireless router and have had it for almost 2 years and has been flawless. for my first tplink router i purchased it to replace a linksys that was constantly needing to be rebooted, ever since i've had the tplink it handles the connections just fine and my internet is steady all of the time. i live outside of cable/isp internet service so i have to use an LTE router for my internet needs. when i was using my linksys router the internet was always dropping connections, buffering youtube videos and needed to be rebooted. ever since the new router everything seems much better, i know a router cannot speed up your internet faster than it already is but it does a great job at handling youtube, amazon and countless other videos, almost feels like i have a cable service internet provider. now the reason i bought this particular router is for another house i have where im getting internet installed. i am not particular on brands but when i find something that works i normally will buy from that same company/manufacturer again so this was an easy choice. as for the coverage area, i dont have issues with that but my router is almost in the center of the house so it provides great coverage throughout. its not a huge house by any means but with 3 antennas and the power boosted to the highest im sure my neighbors could connect if i let them. anyways, great router and a great price and very easy to set up. you can install it with the cd or without within minutes

Long-term stability is questionable.
It's been about 18 months since I installed this router to replace another cheap TP Link that I gave away. For the first 6 months, this router was flawless. There was nothing to complain about...speed was faster than what my Comcast service allowed, and multiple laptops, phones, and tablets over WiFI worked simultaneously. WiFi range is quite good. After 6 months, I began to notice some particular device would not get through on the internet, while others worked fine. I tracked it down to the router assigning the same IP address as an existing device. Assigning static IP didn't seem to help. The only way to fix the problem was a power cycle. In the last couple of months, a new symptom started, where all the devices on the router would be denied internet traffic. Again, a reboot solved the issue. I have to reboot the router about once a week. I never had to reboot my previous $20 TP LInk, which would run for years. One has to keep in mind this is a $30 router. For what it costs, there's not much to complain. While rebooting it once a week is no big deal, when the router dies during an backup to the cloud, I get annoyed. I will be replacing it with a Mikrotik hAP AC UPDATE 2-Jan-2018: Yes, it's running latest firmware for V3 hardware. I think it's on the fritz, now various devices randomly lose WiFi connection every few hours. I used to spec TP Link routers for a lot of my projects, but from now it will be Mikrotik UPDATE 6-Jan-2018: Every device now lose WiFi connection every 2-3 hours. Reconnecting to WiFI requires entering password each time. Thank goodness my Mikrotik hAP AC arrived today -- I no longer have to deal with this TP Link mess. Will next replace the TP Link at my mom's, which has developed exactly same issue after approx. 4 months of trouble-free use.

Something doesn't work... #invisiblefaradaycage
Bought a TL-WR940N, TL-WA901ND, and TL-WA801ND and they do NOT work well together. I purchased all TP-Link products because I was hoping that it would mean they would work well together. Nope. The Router: I can connect to the router, but most of the time the internet connection is really spotty, and half the time the internet connection drops. the Router is in the DMZ zone of the cable modem's router. The room I'm trying to access from is directly above the router. The Repeaters: The two repeaters are about 30-35 feet from the router. One is placed so that two wifi cameras can connect to the network. When I connect to the repeaters, I know I am connected because I can see the cameras on the network, but most of the time I am unable to access the router (via IP address), let alone the internet. Ironically, the wifi cameras' connections are solid, but the repeater-router connection is spotty. I've reconfigured I don't know how many times, with reboots, power cycles, etc etc ad nauseam. This setup is essentially unusable for me. I'm sure there's someone out there who's gotten it working, but I think I lost a couple days off my life from the frustration of finding that one magical combination of resyncs, reboots, power cycles, and alignment of the planets to get this to work. I have a computer science degree and even took a networking project course at the time so I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what I'm doing. I guess it takes a MS or PhD to figure this thing out. These are actually the first items I'll actually be returning to Amazon because they don't work. The only other items I've returned were wrong items or flat out broken.

Works great! Good, strong wifi signal
I picked this up to use as an access point in a bedroom somewhat removed from the main wifi source in the house, but wired with ethernet. I have several devices, like a VOIP phone and Roku plugged into it, and via wifi an Amazon firestick, a smart TV in the room below, and our cellphones to it, and it provides a really good strong signal and throughput. I have not had to restart it at any time due to problems -- it just keeps going, and going, and going. It was my first TP-Link device, but I have since bought other items from them.

Perfect for small home use
Its a good basic router. Decent security and routing options. Good for small home/office use. Works with up to 7 devices streaming Netflix simultaneously. Starts struggling after more than 7 devices.

Tp link goede vervanger
