The sound was amazing
Purchased this because I had a client that insisted on their interview be recorded with a LAV. I'm personally more of a boom guy, I feel as though you get a better sound and more tone and warmth but, that being said, this mic performed great. The sound was amazing for the interview and the capsule isnangoodnsizentjat made it easy to hide. Pause it's made by Sony so I at least knew it was made by a quality company.

Tried and True Workhorse
I remember using this lab back in the early 90's, so when I needed a second lav I purchased it without hesitation. I have a $500+ Shure lav that I used at the same time. The ECM-44 held its own. It's a tad big, but don't think twice about buying it.

Perfectly meets needs for a community center / church / religious place
We needed something that is better quality which can be handled and used by multiple speakers in a public community service or a religious place. Good mic that outputs good quality sound, although can't easily match Sony Dynamic mic, but this mic is great and does the job very satisfactorily for most needs. Lightweight, with sufficiently long cable, and a battery that lasts sufficiently long enough in a public community service or a religious place or a church.

Good audio in a rather large package. The XLR capsule is longer than you might think!
I am not a professional audio tech, but have two of these which I use to conduct on camera interviews. The wires are long enough that I can trail them out the bottom of the people's shirts and connect them to my recorder which sits on the floor. From the camera's POV, you cannot see this. And since the recorder sits in between the interviewer and the interviewee, it allows for a nice distance. The audio quality is better than plugging a cheap lav into an iPhone, but that really isn't saying much. I think the audio is great and have never had problems or complaints. But again, I am not a pro audio guy. My one main complaint is that the connector at the bottom is really large. I knew it was going to be big given that it is an XLR, but it seriously is long and heavy. If it is sitting on the floor plugged into your ZoomH5, then no big deal. But if you are trying to turn it into a portable set-up, keep the size of that plug in mind. It makes it a much larger set up than you might think. Finally, the wire is a standard audio wire, and is therefore thin. This is to be expected, but it does make me question the longevity of the mike.

Sony ecm 44b
I am happy with the quality of the microphone and the unit in general. I was at a job and the clip for the microphone popped off. I attempted to replace the clip and the windscreen. I went to Sony and they wanted over 50 dollars for shipping and the replacements. They would not send regular mail and no company in Chicago kept them in stock. I have bought tens of thousands of dollars in Sony products, but the clip, windscreen and shipping for 50 dollars is a ripoff. Sony showed no class in this regard. I got replacement Pearson clips for a tenth of the price. I got the product in a timely manner and was in excellent new condition. Patrick McDonough [...]

Bigger mic than I was expecting.
Like the durability and quantity of sound. I wish it was not such a bulky mic. It’s the opposite of petite.

Fantastic Value!
You cannot beat this solid workhorse of a lavelier. I’ve used it for many interviews over the years. Fantastic value!

Great sound but doesn't work with phantom power
The sound quality is honestly amazing. The only reason I'm giving it 5 stars is because I was under the impression it would accept phantom power since it uses XLR but it will only power up with the AA battery. When I first got the Mic I was convinced the mic was broken because I wasn't getting a signal powering it with phantom power, then I randomly decided to put a battery in and it worked! This is honestly the first condenser mic I've ever purchased with an XLR connection that won't accept phantom power. I didn't think that was a thing but I read on another site that they removed the ability to accept phantom power to keep the cost down, I honestly would've preferred keeping the phantom power and removing the battery compartment because in order to make room for the battery the XLR connector on this thing is awkwardly long.

I must admit I'm a sucker for wireless, but this is a fabolous microphone and far more practical in most cases as you never have to worry about external signals messing with your sound. I'll be using this as much as possible.

Ordered 4 of these pics. Picture show two clips including a dual clip. They were not shipped with dual clips.
