Streams DLNA video nearly flawlessly (if only they could update to make the fast forward and reverse work)
This player works better than I expected. This review will be mostly on features OTHER than its ability to play blu rays (which it does perfectly). The main use of this is to play videos off a wireless network drive DLNA device. It connects easily with the home wireless network and its built in media player wireless streams content nearly perfectly. The only thing it does not do with DLNA media is either fast forward, or rewind a video (the player does not support it). What it does do, however, is stream every video type I tried (mostly MKV, MP4, MPEG-#, .avi). It even streams 1080p video without losing frames. My test video was Avatar (video file info is .MKV, 10.9 gig) which played after a few moments of loading. Loading, which brings me to my second issue. The loading screen using its built in media player seems to be constantly loading. If your loading a folder with more than 10 videos, it could be 30 seconds or more. It loads Netflix faster than it does video on your own network. Netflix works perfectly as well. It has a few more built in programs which I have not tried using. Overall, I feel that for $50, this works with DLNA network video even better than my PS3 (Playstation 3), which is saying something. If your looking for something to play your already owned videos on your computer or network hard drive, this will be a great player. Why they have a remote with as many buttons as it has is absurd (Look at a Roku remote for guidance Samsung!) The DLNA service I use on my computer is Playstation Media Server, which is free to use and download and I highly recommend it.

Nice quality player - Netflix runs perfectly after the free software update
I purchased this as a birthday gift for my husband when our old basic DVD player finally went on to that great electronics depot in the sky. This is my first experience with both blu-ray and wifi in a DVD player, so I don't have much to compare it to, but overall we've been pretty satisfied with our purchase. As some of the other reviewers mentioned, I did have to go through an extremely long and tedious process in order to get the player updated so that Netflix would operate correctly but once I got the software updated it was smooth sailing from there. The player loads up really quickly which is awesome, since I, like most of the world hate waiting on things. LOL I really love the fact that I can pull up YouTube directly from the player and view videos right on my big screen TV. It's especially nice for days when I just want to do a quick workout, I can pull something up and go without a lot of fuss. I also watch a lot of makeup and beauty tutorials and I love being able to see them in HD! We used the included HDMI cord during setup and the quality of all the DVDs that we have played as well as the Netflix shows have been really nice. The player also includes a feature that can play regular DVDs at BluRay quality. I love that, since all of our old collection is not up to BluRay standards. My only complaint would be that the home screen is not very aesthetically pleasing. I feel like the icons on the top are way too big and should be moved to the bottom, so that the apps and main options could be the focus of the screen. Also, I do wish that the player had some kind of display on the front to show you that it is on and running. There are no indicator lights or anything, and the power button is on the top of the player as well. If you are looking for a nice Blu-Ray player that gives you the option to also view Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and play games this is one that I would definitely recommend!

Solid unit with great features.
Awesome unit for the price. I hesitated buying it because it was so cheap but this thing works great. Opened it up and had it all setup in under 5 minutes. The remote is perfect too because I have a samsung TV and it is setup with an additional power button and volume controls for the TV. The wi-fi piece was excellent too because I was able to get online with Pandora, YouTube and Hulu to watch some favorites. As a parent of 5 kids, I love the parental controls that are included. You can limit viewing of movies to a desired age range and lock it with a PIN. It is a very small system and has built-in controls so you can still use it if you misplace the remote. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention that the quality is tops on the video and sound. Really happy with this purchase.

Worked Good for 2 months!
First, I'm an engineer and I have repaired electronics for quite some time. So I wasn't put off by the fact that the DVD player was refurbished. However, after a couple months the player began to freeze and when that doesn't happen the output of the player goes wonky. Standard DVD movies which played great previously now have the look of a bouncy reality TV show. Motion sickness anyone? I tried contacting the seller but no response. I rarely feel the need to write reviews but in this case I'm not happy with the purchased product.

Its ok...
It works ok so far. I've had some difficulties with it but it does work. It is refurbished and I got it for a good price so I guess I shouldn't expect greatness. Its had to be reset a couple of times and would not stay connected to my internet service several times. It also overheats or something because after a couple hours of play it starts buffering a lot so I just shut it off for a while and turn it back on later and it'll work fine.

A great device at a greater price!
I was comparing blu-ray players in the sub-$100 range, among them was the Samsung BD-5700. It seemed to have the features I wanted, but a lot of Amazon reviewers cited problems with the Netflix streaming and other bugs, mostly in early 2014. A lot of reviewers presumably returned them. Oddly enough, later reviews (summer 2014) swung favorable following a firmware update Samsung made available... ...lo and behold, a little more digging and I found this listing for the "Certified Refurbished" BD-5700 at over $20 less than the new model. A full-featured Wifi Blu-Ray player for $55...? Surely these are the earlier returns simply needing the firmware update, right? I took a shot, and could not be happier! I'm not sure what exactly was "refurbished": I could tell my player had been opened, but it was cosmetically perfect and even had the protective film on the plastic casing. There was no twisty-tie on the power cord (oh boo hoo!) and the batteries for the remote were loose even though the remote was still in its baggie. Eh, who cares... those loose batteries just saved me almost 25 bucks. But perhaps other units might be different...? At any rate, I hooked it up and it turned on, quietly. Configured my network, went right to the update menu and sure enough, it had the older firmware, with a much never version available. Downloading and installing the new version took all of two minutes, and DONE. No problems with Netflix that I can tell (granted, I haven't marathoned anything yet but I'm a light viewer anyway). Some home-made stormchasing blu-rays played perfectly, the DVD upsampling is as good as what my old Sony DVD and/or PS3 would do, and the coax-digital sound works perfectly with my A/V receiver, allowing use as a CD player without turning on the TV. Noice! The player is quiet, the interface is quick and easy to navigate, but some of the apps are fluff. I mean, yay, an opera browser app store for useless games and screensavers, oh my. Facebook? On a BD player? Perish the addicts, please. Pandora and Netflix and such are cool if you use them I guess. There is NO AMAZON STREAMING which is a bit of a letdown but oh well, there's chromecast and last years' smartphone for that. Oh yeah, the remote works my 2008 Samsung TV as well with no setup or programming so that's a nice bonus. Anyway... if you found this "refurb" listing and are comparing to the "new" - buy the refurb, download the new firmware, and it'll be the easiest/sneakiest $20+ Amazon coupon you ever found.

Wow! how smal!
This tiny little player is doing everything just as it should. Not only that but I'm very impressed by the seller. I left only a 3 star seller review because of missing HDMI cable and they called me to offer any solution that would make me happy with them. I suggested that they make sure the description was accurate re the cable (yes or no!) as it is irritating to have to run out and buy a part before installing something. At any rate, I was happy with them and very happy with this Samsung BD-F5700. Pandora all set up and so is Netflix - easy as pie. Too bad you are not allowed to edit or add to seller reviews. The only way I could get rid of a less than perfect review was to delete it and then you can't review that seller again.

I like it
I bought it to watch bluerays, DVDs, netflix, and listen to pandora. For that it works perfectly! I was using the wii to watch netflix which was super annoying so for me this blueray player is amazing .. the picture looks great, it automatically goes to the next episode when binge watching shows and the browser is much smoother. It has 13 apps built-in (netflix, hulu plus, VUDU, Opera TV store, Cinema Now, Pandora, YouTube, Internet TV, Rhapsody, AccuWeather, Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook) and unfortunately you cannot add more. It is simple and works great! For the price, it is perfect for me ... but if you want something that you can add more apps and whatnot, get a more pricey one.
