Other than this being more expensive per ounce how is it different than the 03584 3M spray? I can't seem to figure that out.

Thank you for contacting 3M Automotive Aftermarkets. PN08881 is paintable, whereas PN03584 is non paintable and has asphalt in it. Both product can be used for the same application. I am attaching the technical data sheets for PnN8881, however, PN03584 has no technical data sheet, but, does work the same as PN08883, 3M (TM) Rubberized Undercoating. so can I use this on other things like a bottle or class that I drink water from for a better grip?

I'm not a 100% sure...but the stuff takes a long time to cure and solidify. When it is still tacky it will come off on your hands and since it is a petroleum based product I wouldn't want it on the outside of a glass I would be drinking out of.

Can it be used on high heat areas?

Thanks for asking. 3M Undercoating's should not be applied in areas that will be exposed to high heat. They are not heat resistant and exposing them to heat will cause them to fail and potentially cause damage to the vehicle.

roughly how many cans to coat underneath a vehicle?

It depends on the size of the vehicle and how much you want to cover. I used 3 cans and could use another on a mid sized / 1966 Corvair.
