I just got the fan but I am really impressed! As mentioned no assembly is required so I was able to take it straight from the box and put it into the window. The fan is ready to operate and once I turned it on high I was surprised at how quiet yet powerful it is. It is the most quiet yet powerful fan I've ever owned. The design is perfect to fit securely in the window. The only thing that would make it better is having a longer power cord, but the cord is still efficient. Very happy with my purchase.

This is a great fan. I had been using a Holmes fan in our bedroom Holmes Dual Blade Twin Window fan with One Touch Thermostat and decided to get a new fan for one of our bathrooms that does not have a ceiling exhaust fan, so that we can remove all of the steam and humidity from taking showers and baths. I decided to try this Bionaire and see how they compare. I ended up putting the Bionaire in our bedroom and the old Holmes in the bathroom, for a few reasons. This Bionaire has more power and sucks the hot air out of the room better. The motor must be stronger because I can tell that it doesn't struggle when wind is trying to blow inward. On the Holmes, if it is windy and air is trying to blow into the window from outside, it struggles and the fans slow down. On the Bionaire it basically keeps functioning as normal with no struggling. The Bionaire has 3 speeds, whereas the Holmes only has 2. The medium setting on the Bionaire almost seems as good as the high speed on the Holmes. The buttons on the Bionaire are better too. The Holmes button is sort of already pressed in and feels almost like it is broken... a sort of cheap feel. Bionair buttons are nice and durable feeling and easy to use. They click nicely when you push them, and you know you pushed them and they "took." The Holmes button sometimes needed pressed more than once and never felt like it pressed correctly. I like that this unit has the temperature display too so you know how hot or cold it is in the room and you can tell if it is working or not or which airflow direction is working better... If you set it at exchange and see the temp go up after a few minutes, you know that is not the setting you want, etc. My husband doesn't understand the concept of setting the fan to exhaust to suck out all of the hot air and pull the cool air from the air conditioning from downstairs. He thinks it should always be set to bring air in (so he can sit in front of the dammm fan and feel air and say it's cooler that way.) So, now with the temperature reading right there I can prove to him that bringing in HOT air from outside is not helping the situation and you need to remove the hot air from inside by setting it to exhaust. When he sees it go from 80-some degrees down to low 70's and 60's now, he believes me. Of course there are times when exchange will be better or it will be cool at night and bringing air in is fine, but for the most part in the heat of summer, during the day, you will want to set it to out, to exhaust the hot air to the outside. This fan does a great job of pulling the cool air from the rest of the house too, as long as we leave the bedroom door open. The remote on this one is a nice bonus too because if it starts raining during the night and pulling rain into the room, you don't have to get out of bed to switch the fan direction or otherwise change the settings as needed. I keep the remote right in our nightstand drawer beside the bed and never have to worry about it. If it gets too chilly or whatever the case is, I can just grab the remote and not have to get out of bed. I will see how well the Holmes does in the bathroom, but if it seems to not get rid of the humidity and steam so well as we get into hotter and more humid months, I will buy another one of these Bionaire fans. Overall it is great quality and great performance. Changing the settings is easy and straightforward - pick your speed and pick your airflow direction and that's all you have to do. On the Holmes, you have to press the same button a million times to cycle through all the settings when you want to change it or even to turn it off. It gets to be a pain in the rear after a while. You can also set this one for specific temps etc so it will shut off when your desired temp is reached and kick on again if it gets hotter or colder. Just a great unit all the way around.

I was very skeptical when buying the window fan due to the amount of mixed or negative reviews of its construction and built quality and how it will last or work or have any type of sound. However for my unit it has work amazingly for two particular needs. The first need is to of course ventilate a room with fresh cooler air from the outside which works amazingly. The other need when it is hot outside in the summer where an AC unit will do much better, I placed this in the kitchen which gets hot in the summer due to cooking and it works in two ways very well, the first way is that it airs out all the hot air in the kitchen which maintains the temperature to a stable lower temperature. It also has the ability of course to blow in air to cool off in the kitchen so that cooking can continue. There is of course a feature which has one fan blow in air and the other fan blow out air however these work varies depending on how hot it is. If it's too hot the feature won't work because of the overwhelming Heat. The cons that I find in this unit are the following. I do not like that the only color available when buying was white. This is a problem in the kitchen or anywhere because Grease, dirt, or any type of pollen or dust will show blatantly on the unit. Another thing that I dislike about this unit is the auto mode which is annoying and prevents it from working efficiently. For me this mode is useless and should have not been implemented. It is annoying to have to turn it off every single time you reconnect the fan to the power. Another thing that I dislike about this unit is the LEDs being on without having an option turn off the LEDs because they are bright red and if placed in a room where you sleep it will bother you in the dark. I do like the fact that it comes with a remote controller which makes it easier and more convenient to turn on and turn off the fans without coming in proximity. Another feature that I like that is Paramount is the fan speeds they are quite powerful even on the lowest setting. In particular my unit has no whining or any type of fan noise outside of the blowing of air in fact it is certainly quiet on the lowest setting however on the highest setting the noise is higher due to the power of the Wind coming through. So far I have had this unit for a couple months and it has been flawless and it fits most apartment windows I have not had any issues with this unit as of yet and for the price it is very well worth it. It is made out of plastic for the most part however it seems durable and for me I do not need the additional extension for my window I believe this could be plays vertically as well if needed but I do not require this and it seems that you can place two of these units vertically side by side if the window is large enough which could be a plus if such thing is needed. Overall your miles and experience may vary due to the variability of quality control however my unit seems to be a very good built unit and I would definitely buy again if needed.

UPDATE May 2018: I've now had this fan for 3 and a 1/2 years and use it almost daily for 1 - 3 hours and it is still working great. I don't know what I do without it - it keeps me from having to use my A/C all the time to cool down my bedroom. Anyway, it is still working great so I still highly recommend this product. Really impressed with it. Best thing about it is how light it is - I can pick it up with one hand. UPDATE Feb 2017: I've had this for about 2 years now and I still love it and think it works great. I use this very often and have had no problems. The one thing I've noticed is that the temp gauge is not accurate to the interior of the room, but honestly it couldn't be since the gauge is part of the fan, so it is measuring right where the wind is and not the whole room. Would be a great feature for new ones to have a remote temp sensor! Anyway, for me this is not an issue since it's easy for me to look at my temp gauge and then just calculate - add 10 degrees or whatever. But I hardly ever use the temp auto off thing anyway since I just blast it for a while before bed to cool the room down and then shut it off. I use it all seasons except summer now because my place is so hot (heat is central to building) so I need to cool the room down when I get home. The fan will cool the room quickly - I can get it from 75 to 68 in about an hour usually, which is faster than my AC! Because it's so light I have also used it in the living room which is a huge open area with the dining room and kitchen and it works well in there too, even though it's a lot of space. I love this fan and would still highly recommend it. I'm buying another one for my mother today which is why I decided to come back and post an updated review. I will start with the caveat that I've only had this a very short time (a month-ish) and have only used it about 10 times so far. I will come back at the start of winter and update this review, after I've used it for a while. I know one of the complaints with the new version is that it breaks down quickly so we'll see about that. Also, I've only needed to use it for a couple of hours before I go to bed, then I turn it off, so I don't know how it is overnight. I have a ceiling fan so after this fan cools the room, I just use that overnight. So I really have a limited view for this review, but I'll tell you what I can. The pros: It's really, really light weight-wise, which I wasn't expecting. I live alone and am not strong, so this was good for me. It cooled the room very quickly and very well - down from 80 to low 70's in about an hour. I've only used the feature that blows air in with both fans. I don't really understand how blowing in on one fan right next to blowing out on another fan would make any difference - seems to me that just blowing in as much cool air from the outside as possible would work best so that's what I did. I had it on high with the temp on the lowest setting - the fans really blow hard so I liked that too. It didn't cool the room below 70 even though the temp outside was cooler than 70, but it made it totally comfortable each time I used it. I didn't find the noise a problem - sounded like my AC unit. I guess it;s not quiet but I like white noise anyway so if noise is an issue for you, you should check out the guy who posted a review with the sound clip to see if it's too much for you. I found it very easy to install (I never have the patience to look at directions and am horribly not handy nor mechanically inclined - actually I'm so mechanically challenged that I put this thing in the window upside down at first!). I just put it in the window and plugged it in, then pushed the buttons until it did what I wanted (i.e. turned it to the coldest setting 64 degrees and high fan blowing in). I like that it is shallow enough that I can put it my window with the screen still in so I dont' have to worry about bugs or birds, etc. But maybe this is true for all of them...The cons: You can't use it sideways so it will only fit in the big windows horizontally, like in the picture. Maybe this is an unfair con but I wish I could use it the other direction so I could have it in the small window now that I have my AC unit in the big window. I did try using it on a very warm (74) and sticky night and it did not do the trick. I didn't really expect it to but it didn't in case there are people looking to use this to replace an AC unit. But there are many nights I come home and my bedroom is 80 and it's nice out and I know I could just use the fan to cool it down but I can't because of the AC unit in the big window. It's not quiet but I didn't find it terribly loud, either. But as I said I like white noise so this doesn't bother me, but it might bother others. So far I love it. I think if it breaks down after not much usage then I would change my mind so I'll come back (if I remember...) and post another review after I've used it for a while.

Nighlight or fan? This would get 4.5 stars but....the lights on the unit are so bright they can literally be used as a night light. I don't understand how Bionaire didn't notice that or even intended it to be that way. I'm not exaggerating at all. If you're using this in any room at night...bedroom, TV room, or anywhere dark this will light up the room. I bought this for a bedroom. In order to use it I have to put black electrical tape over the lights to get to sleep. My suggestion is the the lights should go out after 30 to 60 seconds and if you operate the remote of buttons on the unit they should light up again. As is I just can't believe the engineers did this. The fan itself is fantastic. Has options for reverse, exhaust, and senses temperature and has auto on/off. Great for those times you want more airflow and a little cooling but not ready to turn on the air conditioning. It's quiet and well built. If you buy one don't forget the black tape to put over the built-in flashlights.

You are in luck today. This is a direct comparison review between the three most popular currently available twin window fans: Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan with Remote Control Holmes HAWF2043 Twin Window Fan Honeywell HW-628 Enviracaire Twin Window Fan If you are interested in purchasing any of those window fans, read on... I didn't intend to have to do this review because I didn't intend to purchase more than one of these fans. I can tell you now that all of these fans are super cheaply designed and built and none of these fans are perfect, but in my opinion, one is worse than the others. Holmes HAWF2043 Twin Window Fan : my rating - 3 of 5 stars I first purchased the Holmes HAWF2043 unit. It was lightweight and fit the window nicely although I had trouble with the extender which is located on the right side. The locks for the extender are located on the right side along the top and bottom edge of the fan, which is supremely stupid because as soon as you place the fan in your window frame and put weight on it, the bottom lock locks and you can not move the extender. What rocket scientist thought of this? So you have to unlock the locks before you place the unit in the window AND keep weight off the bottom lock until you have the extender adjusted to where you want it. This maneuver is not so easy, especially at first. Plus, the lock mechanisms can be difficult to move. At the time, I could not imagine anything worse, but I was wrong as I found out with the extenders on the Honeywell unit which I will go into in the next paragraph. This Holmes unit has the best placement of the power cord which is in the lower left corner... the location is high enough as not to interfere with the bottom of the window frame. This unit has two speeds, high and low. The controls are easy to operate. In fact, there is only one button and two switches. The button cycles through the high and low manual speed settings and then though the automatic temperature presets which are at 60, 65, 70, 75 & 80 degrees fahrenheit. If you set it at one of the temperature presets, the unit will turn off once the sensor reaches that temperature. It seemed to work although I did not have the opportunity to see how accurate that function is. The two switches set the direction of the fans to either intake or exhaust which can be done on each fan independently, so you could have one fan on intake and the other on exhaust for quickly exchanging room air with fresh air. This unit has 8.5 inch fans and they are relatively quiet at both speeds - naturally high is louder than low, but don't expect silence. I own a Kill-A-Watt P3 energy meter and this unit used 46 watts on low and 63 watts on high. I would have been happy with this unit except that two days into using it, the right fan started working intermittently. Of course, that is unacceptable. Returning. I give this fan 3 out of 5 stars because I feel that if you get a good one you'll be happy with it, but don't expect anything great. FYI: Holmes is a division of Sunbeam. Honeywell HW-628 Enviracaire Twin Window Fan : my rating 2 of 5 stars So with the right fan not working correctly on the Homes, I ordered the Honeywell HW-628. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I was not going to be happy with it. For one thing, the unit has 7 inch fans compared with 8.5 inch on the Holmes. So in order to move as much air, the fans would have to run much faster and the unit will be much louder. Time to install... I previously mentioned that the extenders on the Holmes were poorly designed, but the extenders on this Honeywell were MUCH worse. First of all, this unit has two shorter extenders on both the right and left sides instead of one longer extender like the Holmes has. Second, the four extender locks are, get this, located on the BACK of the unit, the side facing out the window! How are you supposed to set those? It was impossible for me. I ended up jamming the extenders into the window frame in order to keep them extended. Okay, so I finally get the unit in the window and turned it on. I found out immediately that my thoughts about the smaller fans, higher fan speed and noise were true. This thing is LOUD. Super loud. And buzzy. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it is downright unruly. There is no chance you would use this in a bedroom even on low speed. The controls were easy to use although not completely intuitive. There are three speeds available on each fan - low, high and super high. You have to set each fan separately, which I think is stupid. I cannot imagine a scenario where I would want one fan on high and another fan on low, etc. The temperature setting dial is also extremely stupid. There are no temperature markings. According to the manual, you are supposed to keep the unit on until the room reaches a temperature that you like and then turn the dial back until the unit cycles off. Seriously? Each fan has its own direction switch for either intake or exhaust. The power cord is located on the bottom center of the front of the unit and its mounted too low so that it interferes with the bottom of my window frame. Who is designing these things? The one feature it had that I liked was that the grilles were directional and could be rotated to direct air in a 360 degree arc. On the power consumption front, this unit used twice the power as the Holmes! - 97 watts on low, 109 watts on high and 120 watts on super high. My unit was defective in that the switches for the right fan are wired incorrectly such that low is high and high is low, but super high is still super high... odd. Returning. Due to the noise level, I would not recommend this unit. I cannot understand how it has 4 of 5 stars and as of today, 262 reviews. Incomprehensible. Bionaire BW2300 Twin Window Fan with Remote Control : my rating 4 of 5 stars So after the poor experience with the Honeywell (They put their name on that piece of junk? They are a defense contractor!), I purchased the Bionaire BW2300 hoping for better luck. The first thing I noticed was the similarity between this unit and the Holmes. That is because they are both made by the same company. Bionaire, like Holmes, is Sunbeam. It has the same right side extender locks as the Holmes, but after the experience with the unusable rear locks on the Honeywell, I was happy to see them! One unwelcome difference is that the power cord is located on the bottom center of the front like it is on the Honeywell, which itself is not a problem but its also too low like it is on the Honeywell. I mounted the unit in window fairly quickly and turned it on. Its got three speeds, low, medium and high. It uses 8.5 inch fans like the Holmes and it is relatively quiet, although I think it may be ever so slightly louder than the Holmes on high. The controls are all electronic and it has an electronic temperature readout and thermostat. It is very easy to use. Simply choose a fan speed and put the unit into intake, exhaust or one fan on intake and the other on exhaust (air exchange mode). You can use it either in manual mode where there is no temperature control or you can set a temperature for the unit to reach and then turn off (automatic mode). This is easy to do using the simple up and down buttons to the right of the large temperature readout or you can use the remote control. Once you set it, it will remember your settings if you turn it off as long as you don't unplug it. The remote control works well and it allows you to control all of the fan's features and functions remotely: on/off, fan speed, air direction, temperature and to toggle between automatic and manual mode. Finally, there is a button to change the brightness of the temperature readout, although you cannot completely turn it off. The power usage was similar to the Holmes. The Kill-A-Watt read 43 watts on low, 49 watts on medium and 64 watts on high. Unlike the most popular review for this unit, my temperature probe was located in its proper track and it seems to work well. I've been using it for three weeks now without issue and so this is the keeper. 4 of 5 stars for this. Its not perfect, but in my opinion, its the best of the three. Just remember that with any window fan, one of the most important things is setting up a ventilation route. In order for a window fan to be most effective, you have to have a second open window for either: drawing in fresh air if you put the fan in exhaust mode. or exhausting room air if you put the fan in intake mode. If you don't have a second open window for either mode, you'll either create a vacuum or pressure balloon, respectively - and either way, you'll not be moving much air which is what a fan is all about - in addition, you'll possibly be overheating and likely killing the fan's motors. The second open window can be in another room or on another floor or it could be a screen door, but you need an unobstructed, open source of fresh air with the fan on exhaust or an equally open window for air to exhaust through if you put the fan on intake mode. Of course, you could use the fan on exchange mode where one fan pushes air in and the other exhausts, but this is not ideal as my observation is that this mode is not nearly as efficient the other two. Also remember that the outside temperature rules everything. In my experience, in order for a fan to cool a room, the outside temperature needs to be at least ten degrees cooler than the inside temperature, and preferably falling, like it typically does at night. If the outside temperature is about the same as inside or warmer, then you'll not be cooled off by a fan. Humidity counts, too. High humidity = bad. The window fan works well for me in the evenings/nights where the outside air temperature drops 10 or 15 degrees into the low 60s or 50s, but the inside air temperature would stay high, even with all the windows wide open as often happens without any significant wind or breeze. With the fan on and with the windows and doors set up correctly, the upstairs bedrooms stay within five or six degrees of the outside temp for me without having to turn the air conditioning on in the spring and fall. I find intake mode most effective for me. And again, remember that the effectiveness of any window fan will depend a lot on the outside temperature and humidity level. As far as these fans are concerned, I would say either get the Holmes HAWF2043 or the Bionaire BW2300 , but stay far away from the Honeywell HW-628 . Good luck! UPDATE - June 24th, 2014: I've had the Bionaire BW2300 for just over five years now. It's holding up quite well. I use it all the time and it works as well today after five years of use as it did when it was brand new out of the box - no problems at all. The remote control and the full temperature controls are nice! I'm very happy with it. Its one of the best things I've ever purchased. UPDATE - April 19, 2015: Houston, we have a problem. The flux capacitor has failed! Well, not that but after almost six years of use, I noticed that one of the two fans kept shutting itself down because it was overheating. Overheating? Huh? It was becoming too hot and tripping a protection circuit which was shutting it down until it cooled again. Sooo, what to do, what to do... Take it apart and try to fix it! (Not for the mechanically deficient)... So the fan case comes apart with seven screws. Easy, right? But those extender locks make a repeat appearance as the design makes it virtually impossible to fully take the case apart without breaking at least one of the extender locks. Which I did. And I don't care since I don't use them. I didn't even bother reinstalling them when I was finished. But I'm getting ahead of myself... Anyway, I then removed the fan blades (single bolt) and then the motors themselves - which turn out to be made by General Electric. I first vacuumed out any dust from both sides of the motors. Then I applied a generous amount of a full synthetic 5w50 motor oil (yes, motor oil) to both sides of the motor shaft and the ball bearings. I worked it in by turning and sliding the play in the shafts and by using gravity to allow the oil to work in on both sides. I then reassembled the unit. Make sure that when you reinstall the fan blades that you key them correctly on the shaft and you may want to hand balance them a little. Also, the extender is a bit tricky to reinstall - make sure you get the end into the three grooves correctly, then extend the extender before you put the other side of the case shell on. You will need to put some support under the extended extender while doing this to keep it flat. And again, I didn't even bother reinstalling the extender locks on mine since I don't use them. So after the operation, the fan works like new again. No overheating. No shutdowns. In fact, the motor is staying very cool now. It just needed a little lube to keep the moving parts moving. You *may* be able to achieve a similar result without taking the whole fan apart by using a spray lube like WD40. But I find that WD40 is too light and it's effects are not long lasting unlike it's strong odor. The full synthetic 5w50 motor oil will work for years and there is no odor. For me, this issue did not bother me one bit. After six years of heavy use, one should expect this sort of thing. In no way should this discourage you from buying the Bionaire BW2300. It's still one of the best purchases I ever made. UPDATE - April 20, 2015: After browsing some of the more recent reviews for the Bionaire BW2300, it seems that there *may* be a problem with the newer units. From what I understand, they added an inline fuse to the power cord and they may have also changed the electronics, but I'm not certain as I do not have one of the newer units. As of this date my fan is almost six years old, purchased in June, 2009, and it does not have an inline fuse on the power cord. My review reflects my experience with my fan and I do not know exactly what changes they may have made to the design since or how those changes may affect the newer units. That said, it is also possible that the spate of issues people are having recently *may* be due to user error. For instance, some of the people having issues may not be setting up an adequate ventilation route to an open window which would overheat the motors and cause shutdowns. But since I do not have one of the newer units, I cannot know what the situation is, one way or the other.

Muito bom, pena que não vende oficialmente no brasil. Se o lugar que vc mora tem pouca ventilação ou é muito e vc não pode instalar um ar condicionado, esse é o produto certo. Recomendo esse pq é o único mais potente. Os outros eram todos 40w e esse se não me engano é 100w.

This fan is absolutely amazing and I highly recommend it. I've purchased other window fans in the past and none compare. In fact, I will likely buy a second. Here's what you'll love: THERMOSTAT: This fan has a built in, programmable thermostat which I love. It can be set as cool as 60F. This means you can leave the fan running on a cool night and it will automatically shut itself off once it reaches your selected temperature and you won't end up waking up in the middle of the night freezing cold. The current room temp is shown in red LED lights on the display. Once you press the button to select your desired room temp, it will show your selection and after a few seconds flash back to the room temp which stays on and reflects the current room temp. The lights on the display showing the temp may or may not bother you, depending on how sensitive you are to lighting in your room at night while you try to sleep. Worst case, it's an easy to fix to cover it with something and it hasn't been an issue for me and I love a dark room for sleep. FAN SPEEDS: There are three fan speeds, low, medium and high. I keep mine on high just to maximize on air flow. It's a great breeze and strong enough fan to air out a large bedroom or medium sized living space. FAN OPTIONS: There are two small fans built into this product. An interesting bonus feature on this fan is that you can choose air in, air out, or air in AND out (exchange). The options basically change the direction of the fans to both spin to blow air in, both spin to suck air out, or one fan blows air in while the second fan sucks air out (to exchange the air in the room). Personally, I prefer the air in feature, especially if you're looking to cool off a room and it's cooler outside. DESIGN: This fan fits into my windows perfectly. What I like is that it has two plastic 'flaps' on top that grip the window and hold it in securely. Other window fans I've owned didn't have this, and without the flap, makes it much easier for the fan to fall out or be bumped out of place. This fan stays securely in the window. Equally awesome is that the fan has a built in accordion style slider that easily slides out and fills the open portion of the window. It has two lock buttons that lock the slider into place as well so it doesn't end up moving while securing the fan into the window. REMOTE: This fan comes with a remote control. This is handy for when you're laying in bed and want to adjust the temp, turn off or turn on the fan. You can control everything from the remote (as you could on the fan itself). QUIET: This fan is extremely quiet. A few times during the day I caught myself walking up to the fan to see if it was on because it was so quiet. Turns out, it was running on high and just super quiet. Still great airflow even with little noise. AIR FLOW: Great air flow. Strong breeze into the room and cools off our large master bedroom significantly without issue. These are strong little fans. TIP: The fan has a standard/average length cord so make sure the window you plan to place it in has a plug near by. If not, have a short extention cord handy to ensure it reaches the outlet. I purchased this fan based on its great amazon ratings which is also why I wanted to give back and write this lengthy detailed review. This review is my own and I didn't receive any perks or freebies for writing it. I'm extremely satisfied with this fan and will likely be buying another one for our house. You will not be disappointed with this fan. You will love it! Five stars!!

Great for a fan! Helped us survive a heat wave with our 6 month old. The low setting is very quite compared to our other double fan and quieter than our upright fan. I like that it will shut off on its own when it reaches the desired temperature. I like that it displays the temp of the room although I wish you could change the setting to Celsius. We’ve been using for three weeks so far very satisfied. It was also a next day delivery which was a life saver. Got just in time when fans were sold out everywhere. In a normal summer I think this would work just as well as a air conditioner. It works best when the temperature gets low overnight. We have not yet tried it with the remote.
