Read compatible chargers (photo) and batteries arrived topped off at 19.4v
Received new batteries yesterday to replace original DC9096 bought a few years ago. Always topped off every 6mth while stored. One died and other charges. Both of these arrived at 19.4v. Was a struggle to force into original Dewalt charger and hard to remove. They did charge and top off at 21v (outstanding). Checked 24hrs later and still holding at 20 volts. Checking once a month to see how much drop over time. I did not read the compatible charger models so the fact that I had to press hard to get into charger is my fault. Same with removal from drill, have to pull and wiggle and eventually it comes out. I did find and order the correct aftermarket charger on Amazon. My old batteries have more of a rounded end and these are more square. Same with the charger. With the original topped off battery, I inserted and pulled trigger, power as usual. Then I had to press hard to insert these batteries (square end). Once seated, I pulled the trigger and what a difference in power. Yes my other being a 6yr old battery might have effect but these did fully charge and time will tell. The originals for my Dewalt are discontinued so rebuilt or aftermarket being available is a good thing.

I found that if the unit doesn't slide in and out easy, return it. These are excellent.
remove and slide back in well, lock in well, hold a good charge,

so far replaces DC9098 battery and works with DC970 drill and DW9226 charger
So far -- one day -- it works with my DC970 drill that used the original DC9098 battery. The batteries came (amazingly) the same day as ordered and were charged. They also recharged twice in my DW9226 charger. Previous reviewers had reported that the batteries did not fit, got stuck, or were hard to pull out. I also found they needed to be forced to fully insert in the drill and the clip that holds the battery was then hard to release. But, it was do-able. It was also hard to fully insert in the charger and took a tug to get it out. But do-able. One concern is that being a tight fit, that with repeated use something will break. My other concern is that the drill seemed to be operating at a much higher speed than before, so I am concerned that the voltage might be higher than the advertised 18v (The original battery is now almost dead and probably hasn't fully recharged for some time. I'm going to try to find a neighbor with a DC voltmeter to check the new one.). The final concern is whether these batteries will last, as a couple of reviewers had written that the batteries died soon after the return date. If you don't see an update in the next 2-12 months they are probably ok.I uploaded a pic of the original and new batteries to show the metal pin in the new battery that is not present in the original battery. I wonder what it is there for?? There is no connection for it in the drill or the charger (see pics). Also the metal pin is slightly longer than the plastic piece in the original battery, and that might account for it being harder to fit into the slot in the drill and the charger.I selected this retailer after looking through many for a couple of hours and not finding a battery that was exactly the same as the original, but this retailer had a few good reviews and none bad, so decided worth a try.

Doesn’t last long
I have owned these batteries for a month and they are terrible. When I first bought them I had to charge each of them several times just to get them to last throughout the day. Now today when the one battery went dead and I switched to the other it went dead in less than 5 minutes. I charged one, went to use it and the same thing happened with the one I charged. I charged the other battery, and the same thing happened with it. Would not recommend!

Works, but with caveats
Purchased these because my OE batteries are getting old and don't hold a charge as well as they used to. Sadly, these batteries last about as long as my old OE ones do. They also seem to slowly lose power output from start to finish, whereas the OE ones work strong until just before they die.Another frustration was that they don't fit my 3116 charger. The product photos say they do, but no matter what I tried, they wouldn't. The area around the terminals fits too tightly or something. Physically won't go all the way in the charger. I had to purchase an aftermarket one to charge them at all.In terms of fit in the tools, they went into my recip saw easily enough. A little stubborn to remove, but not annoyingly so. In the end, I got the job I needed to do done. However, I had to use both of these and both of my old OE batteries to do so. It was a bit disappointing, but they did work. At least it wasn't as expensive as getting the official 20v adapter kit!
