Aquasana AQ-4105 Showerhead Filter System with Handheld Wand

I've bought two filter showerheads one with a different company and this one. I bought this product to see if it can minimize or even cure my dry scalp problem I have had for over 20 years. I've used so many different shampoos to cure this symptom, but it never really worked out well for me. Due to this problem, I had to consciously remind myself not to scratch my head ,which would left my head and shoulder with a snow storm. My symptom is really bad that I can see white dandruff already settled in after I took a shower. After thorough research, I bought this product even though I do not really like the design that mainly made with plastic. Installation: Installation is looked to be easy but actually it is not. I saw some reviews complaining about leaking of water. That also happened to me, but I was able to fix that problem by using teflon tape, which I need to buy separately. Other product I bought provide teflon tape with the main product. Smell: I saw some reviews also complaining about the smell of this product. I do not really know whether they made an improvement to the product, mine does not have this particular problem. I bought this product on November 2013. So it is a fair bet that purchase after that date expected to be ok. Performance: As I mention already, I bought two including this one. This one is expensive and not as a popular choice compare to one that now listed as a "best seller" in amazon.com. But performance is what it makes the difference. I can tell substantial reduction of dandruff after few showers. Although it does not eliminate the problem, I now more comfortable walking around the street and spend less time on looking at my head and shoulder. To be fair, other product also improves my scalp problem but not as much as this one. The size and weight of filters also tell why there is a difference between two competing brands. This one weight at least 4 times and 4 times bigger than competing brand. In the arena of battery and filter, I think bigger the better, as it has bigger capacity. In sum, if your whatever symptom is acceptable, I would not recommend this product because of price and price of filter you will need to spend on replacing filter. But if you desperately need of maximum performance, this is a product you should buy. I gave five stars because I bought this product mainly for performance, nothing else. One more thing: There is a noticeable reduction in temperature, which is understandable due to it's size of the filter and water going through a long hose.

Update: I order this showerhead filter faithfully and will continue to buy them. My son has eczema and while I did not notice why at the time, would have mild to severe flare up all the time. Some would result in emergency NICU 4-5 night stays because of super infections throughout the body. When I moved we put this filter up and surprisingly my son's skin was perfect. There were no more flares until we gave him a bath in the kitchen sink and noticed his skin flare up again. I immediately knew that something in the water was causing him these horrible and uncomfortable skin flare ups. We still don't know what it is but we definitely love this filter! My son is about to be 6 and since we started using this filter he has had baby smooth skin! In addition we don't use any horrible "baby products". A little bit of coconut oil goes a long way! 😉 I ordered this for my new home, which i will be moving to in a month. I have not opened it yet but I would love to say I had no problems with shipping or order! Great fast shipping! Thanks! ***UPDATE: My youngest son suffers from eczema which has landed him in ICU 3 times for a week at a time with super infections. Creams, treatments, this that and the other would not work on my baby. I can honestly say that my child has had no more flare ups and his eczema has almost completely subsided. I keep his skin moisturized and he loves drinking water. My son had to take a shower every other day with some days every other 2 days and the showers were 3-4 minutes long. Now I am so happy to see my baby play in the shower for as long as he wants everyday and nothing happens to his skin. I do not know if it is some chemical in the water (which I highly don't doubt) which causes his eczema to go bonkers but with this shower head we've had no more skin problems and a happy baby. I'm not saying this will apply to every person who suffers from eczema but it's worth a try. His doctor looks at me crazy when I claim this has fixed the problem... we've all benefited from this product in some way... hope this review helps.

I like this filter it does the job if you have hard water. Is it a miracle no but it’s good enough My only issue is the price keeps going up. I do wish they’d go back to their original pricing because I’d purchase more often and for other showers in my home

Edited to change title, stars, and add: Avoid this product! I didn't give enough credence to the less positive reviews, and naively thought, "Well, there's plenty of good reviews - I'll be one of the people who install this thing right and won't have problems." After about four weeks of use, I gave this product a fair and positive review. Well, a week after that posting, I noticed that the part of the hose that connects it to the handle was cracked. A few days after that, it totally broke and I had to replace the hose and handle with the detachable hose and head I'd originally had installed - which doesn't fit very well in Aquasana's bracket. For $60, I was hoping to get at least one filter-life worth of use out of it before I replaced it with something else, because I wasn't exactly thrilled with this purchase - and the replacement filters cost about as much as a whole unit. I will continue to use this Frankenstein set-up to use the filter for a while longer, and will be buying a different brand filtering shower head. Original review: People complaining about it leaking may have not bothered to read the deceptively easy directions, or noticed the clear plastic washers that come with the unit. Those washers need to be installed at both ends of the hose, and pipe tape (not included) is needed at all connections. The pipe tape is only 99 cents at Walmart - get some! Sellers also seem to have taken notice of the comments about a stinky hose, because mine came opened - which means someone on their end is opening the packages to let them air out prior to shipping. GOOD JOB! That being said, mine still has a minor, very negligible drip where the filter attaches to the wall pipe, and it makes a sort of annoying whistling sound - but those problems are caused by the water pressure in my house being too good, so I'm not really complaining. We have it installed in a decent-sized stand up shower stall, and it fits well. The filter does prevent a lot of head angle adjustment, but since the BF and I are fairly tall and aren't interested in wasting water for a massage, it's fine. If you're short, have a smaller shower stall, or are fairly particular about the cosmetics of your bathroom, you may not be as pleased. That last bit about cosmetics is that, as other commentors have mentioned, the unit is NOT all bright white as it might appear in the picture. The pieces are all sort of different shades of white. This is an excellent product, which I purchased because my city water has LOTS of extra chlorine in it, added by the city because of bacteria issues they have yet to solve. Plus, living in the part of Florida that we do, the water is pretty hard on hair and skin anyway. I noticed an amazing difference in my hair the very first time I washed it with this shower head. Much less straw-like and much less frizzy - and a lot less styling product needed. I won't say it was as perfect as the tap water from up north in Philly or NYC (where I didn't need any styling product other than a cheap hairdryer to get awesome hair) but it is SO many times better it is worth every penny the unit and replacement filters will cost.

I moved to anchorage recently from Florida and I'm not sure if it was dust in the air, construction by my landlord or the new water, but I got super itchy, skin was dry... so I bought an air filter and water filter, and honestly I think the water filter helped the most, something about the water in Anchorage was really drying out my skin, and adding a filter helped A LOT... this is reasonably priced for the filter alone the shower head is actually really nice, but it had some leaking at the joints where the hose connects, I really don't notice it or pay attention to it anymore, but briefly thought about buying a separate shower head. The filter really does the trick and I'm super happy I got the filter and again, the shower head etc is really nice, just a little leaking where the hose connects but I still give it 5 stars because it is so helpful overall.

We live in southern California and the water here is more solid than liquid with all the lime and calcium. A show head can get clogged in a week or so. My wife wanted this because her hair is drying out and breaking and her scalp is flaking and she was freaking out forcing me to get spring water delivered so she could rinse her hair. We purchased this one and also purchased the Sprite high output as well, The Sprite was about 1/3 cheaper but it required everything to be taken apart. The Sprite also lasts about twice as long, BUT since the Sprite is an Inline filter it mush be taken off at least one side on the shower head or pipe and then the filter be taken apart and that can be a pain. Easy to scratch and took me soaking it in CLR to get it off. This Aquasana is about twice the cost of the Sprite High Output but. No disassembly, it is a simple change, no fighting the filter housing to get it off and it works marvelous. The water is much cleaner, a little softer even and my wife's hour is no longer breaking and he scalp has stopped flaking. The shower head is crap but the filter is a better choice as it is much much more user friendly. We have had it for a month with no reduction in its performance.

Pros: - Super easy installation (less than 10 min.) - Shower head has several easily select-able jet streams. - Softens and filters water nicely (San Diego, CA): my skin feels less irritated after showering. - In most cases you'll be able to reuse your previous hose if you wish. Cons: - Doesn't soften water as much as an industrial strength salt based whole-house solution, but if you live in a rental apartment like me this is your only option. - Product color is cream, not white. If you have a modern looking bathroom, this old looking model isn't for you. - Hose is a bit short. I'm using my old longer hose. - The in-line position of hose/container/cradle assembly makes the shower head spray a bit far because it forces the head to be positioned a bit too upright. Notes: - The water does turn black the first time you turn the water on: this is normal, AS DESCRIBED IN THE MANUAL. Some reviewers seem surprised/upset by this. People, read the manual! - If you're not handy, i.e. you don't even know how to replace a light bulb, forget it, ask a handyman to install it for you. - As always with ANY plumbing job: use "Teflon tape" on all of the threads. It makes screwing the pieces together easier, and will prevent leaks on the long run. - Do not use any kind of wrench or pliers to tighten the collars! Instead use a "Rubber Strap Wrench" as it will slip without causing any damage when maximum tightness is reached. - Hose does have odor, but you really need to stick your nose onto it to smell it. Otherwise it's OK, you can't smell anything while using it. - The previous water softener I used (different brand) had metal particles in its filter (the filter was made of transparent plastic and placed directly inside the shower head). These particles eventually dissolved and cause internal corrosion of the shower's faucet which I had to replace because warm water wasn't getting through anymore. I hope the filter on this model doesn't contain the same metal particles. [Edited on April 25 2014] I've been using it for 2 years now and the shower faucet has not corroded yet. Whatever the filter uses to soften the water seems to be OK so far.

Water is lekker zacht (onthard) goed voor de huid. Douchekop houd wel een hoop druk tegen.

I love this Shower! It has been doing amazing things for my sensitive skin. It removed pretty much completely the chlorine smell of the water (and I assume by that the chlorine was removed) and I can feel the difference in my skin and in my hair. My skin is not breaking out and dehydrated anymore and I feel my hair much more healthy now. The handheld is a bonus, but it could be more stable in the shower (when you touch the hose the shower head moves usually). Thinking about it now maybe I should have chosen the chrome one. Installation was super simple but I had to use a lot of thread seal (waterproof) tape to stop the leakages but that was enough to stop it.

It was easy to install, however when you install it the first time if it leaks its probably coz you not using the 3 black rubber small round washers that came with it or youc can use your old rubber washer with ur current shower then there's no leak. As per the product I am sure it works the water smells less and feels better and definitely doing something rather than not having a filter at all.
