When we have to pull her out of those carriers at the vet, you can tell it causes her so much pain and I feel like a terrible cat mommy. I knew I had to find a good top load cat carrier but a lot of them were pretty expensive with a lot of so so reviews. When I saw this one, I decided to take a chance on it since it looked so easy to get cats in and out of and it is pretty inexpensive. I'm really glad I did. It folds up really compactly so it barely takes up any room when not in use. Still, it is very sturdy. It doesn't have any problem supporting my 13 pound cat. The problem with heavier, hardier cases, is that it's just that much barrier between the cats and everything familiar. I also made sure it was a safe space for them. When I first got the carrier, I left it out on the floor with the flap held open by the handy velcro piece, so they could get used to its smell and shape. They like to sleep inside, it and play around it/in it. I've put treats in there before too. So when it eventually came time to actually use it, getting them inside it was easy, and even after we got back from the vet, I left it out in their play area so they can continue to see it's just a thing, and not only associate it with scary trips to the vet.
