Excellent product
I was a Kickstarter backer for the original KeySmart in early 2013, which I still have and works perfectly. I needed one for my work keys, so I ordered another. I think the newer version's build quality is better than the classic. The new version comes with an integrated pocket clip, which is a huge plus for me. If you hate jingling key noise and want a quality piece, order this one.

Much improved over older version. I like it
I really liked the original Keysmart and mine was in need of updating. I figured I'd get the Rugged version and I'm quite pleased with it so far. It's a bit longer than my previous one which I'm kind of on the fence about. I much preferred the shorter version but I'll get used to this longer one soon enough. As simple as it sounds, I was just really interested in the pocket clip on this. I use a carabiner on my key chain but just got sick and tired of it and wanted something different. Upon receipt, this Rugged version is definitely heftier and beefier than the previous generation one. Compared to the older gen Keysmart, this one is significantly updated in build quality and sturdiness. The key plates are much thicker than the older version and they just feel more solid compared the older gen. The older gen key plates seem flimsy and cheap compared to the Rugged version. As such, there is a noticeable heft to them. While it's not much, this Rugged version is definitely heavier so it might be an issue for some people. But overall, it feels more solidly built IMO. Now, while I agree that this wasn't as easy to put together as the older model, it's definitely not PITA like some other reviewers are commenting about. This isn't rocket science folks...it's not that hard. I have 7 keys on mine and it took me a whopping 2-3 minutes to assemble my Keysmart. I had to disassemble it once only because I put the keys facing the wrong way. Blame OCD for that one. But, I think this is a great improvement on the older version and aside from the added heft/length, I'm really liking this one.

KeySmart Is an Alright Product. Try It to See If It Does What You Need.
After years of carrying my keys on a traditional key ring, I decided to look for alternatives. For one, I got tired of my keys scratching up and chewing up my leather wallet. For another, long-term rubbing of metal against cloth pants pockets will eventually put holes in said pants pockets. I realize the Keysmart is metal itself. I am more concerned about the teeth of the keys and keeping my wallet as scratch-free as possible. Setup It does take a while to set up the keys the way you like. I estimate that I spent several hours of set-up time throughout several days after receiving this item before finally having it the way I like it. I would try a configuration, didn't like it, and go back to reconfiguring. Some of my keys are longer than others, like a mailbox key, a deadbolt key, and a car-like key. This means experimenting with different locations along the stack and on either screw to which the keys attach so that all keys can open and close without interfering with one another. I set up the keys so that the teeth all face inward, to the other keys when every key is in the closed position. You may need to loosen the screws, too, so that they keys can move in and out. For giggles, I installed the bottle opener. Unfortunately, the bottle opener did not work as advertised when I tried to open a Martinelli Apple soda drink. Since I don't drink beer, I don't know how well this would have worked on a beer bottle. I bought the KeySmart mag mount for my car keyfob. Unfortunately, this makes the overall length of the KeySmart too long for my use-case. 99% of the time, I just carry my car keyfob in a separate pocket. The mag mount has a keyed-interference fit, along with the magnet itself. This means accidentally detachment is unlikely. What Does This Come With? My set came with the keyholder itself, default screws, and longer screws for holding up to 14 keys. There were washers to act as spaces so that both studs are equal in height. There are two rubber washers, likely to act as dampeners against vibration and slow the back-out of screws. If not that, then the rubber acts as thread-locker. Would I Recommend It? My feelings are so far mixed. On the one hand, I don't think this KeySmart should have cost as much as it did. It's just several pieces of metal, affixed together with screws. Perhaps we're paying for the machining costs? The screws aren't even locked with a locking washer to prevent accidental back-out. It remains to be seen how long the screws will stay in place, as I've used this for just a month. The rubber washer should help guard against this. It does save only a little space in that the keys are stacked lengthwise with a slight overlap to each other. In a key ring, the keys would just go all over the place in your pocket. And yes, my wallet has not been chewed up as often as it had been with my key ring. I did look at other ways of carrying keys. Some use a modular attachment system. You would divvy up your keys by category. Each category (or keyring) attaches to the master key ring. This makes the entire key ring even bigger and more unwieldy! Airport Security I don't think this thing will pass muster when going through airport security. For one, it looks like a pocket knife. With the bottle opener attached, airport security would definitely confiscate it. I would suggest having your old standby key ring ready for when you have to fly, carrying only the keys you need.

Perfect key organizer
I highly recommend the rugged version as a great key organizer. I do NOT recommend the pro version as it’s NOT durable at all. As a key organizing system, it keeps keys tidy and stops them stabbing me in my leg and ripping through pockets/pants when in the pocket. Rugged version: I do recommend the keysmart rugged, which is made from metal. The system works great and that is sturdy. I got those for myself and my friend after our keysmart pro’s broke. The rugged version is sturdy, holds the same length keys as the pro version, and has a useful clip for holding it on your pocket. For the pro version: The plastic side with the light and button breaks easily. I got 2 of these, one for me, and one for a friend. Both broke around the screw part next the light and button. Both started fine, both got an almost identical frack, and then both had the plastic end break off to the screw part. The only benefit of the pro is the tile part and light. As keys are both ends, the light is only good for half your keys. The light is also not very bright and doesn’t really do much. The tile part, sounds good, but how often do you loose your keys? Me, never happened yet. The battery in my friends didn’t last long either. Worked fine with recharging for a while, but then wouldn’t hold a charge. He ha two young kids who probably played with it frequently. Even so, the battery shouldn’t need charging every other day. I would recommend that you carefully consider buying the pro version. Consider the rugged instead. If you want a very good looking version, get the titanium version of the rugged.
