Excellent work around
SDS Max bits and attachments are not available at the big box stores. This adaptor will let you use SDS+ bits found at HD and Lowes when you don't have time to order a SDS MAX bit or go to Harbor Freight. I have found it to work well and think that demo hammers ought to just come with one of these to make them more flexible in application. Only downside is that it makes the tool much longer. Otherwise, good gadget that most of us need in our tool kits.

Finally a good adapter
So much junk out there...this one makes your plus bits useful again in max units! Saves a ton and hasn't broke yet under tork!

It is made in Germany and comes in a cool DeWalt yellow twist case
Folks, the picture does not do justice. This thing is HUGE, one serious hunk of steel. It is made in Germany and comes in a cool DeWalt yellow twist case. I have only used it once, to chuck a 36" x 3/4" SDS Plus bit, but it worked perfectly and the heft and craftsmanship of the adapter leave no doubts whatsoever about its durability. When buying locally, SDS Plus bits seem to be cheaper and more plentiful than SDS Max bits. That said, if I know I'm going to use a bit a lot, I will order and wait for the proper SDS Max bit, but it's nice to have flexibility and access to cheaper SDS Plus bits. FYI I"m running these in the Makita HR4013C, a fantastic beast of a machine (and, like the DeWalt adapter, much bigger in real life).

Nice, no noticible power loss, high-quality
I got this to be able to use some older bits for a previous drill I had. I upgraded to an SDS Max rotary hammer. This appears and feels like it's high quality, and I have had no problems with it the few times I have used it. It doesn't seem like it causes any loss of per-hit ftlb power, as I used some SDS Plus bits to anchor an animal escape ramp to our pool and it drilled through the concrete like soft butter. I'd recommend this to anyone. I am highly satisfied with the performance and quality of this adapter.

Hmmm, so who knew part of this thing would be plastic...
Didn't have time to do much research on these adapters, needed one ASAP, ...and the price seemed pretty good for the Dewalt so I ordered it. Now in my hands, I see what looks like a metal casting in the pictures is actually a plastic shroud over what I do suspect (and hope) is a metal bit release somewhere underneath this plastic shroud. I can't say if this is actually a bad design or not, or if it will stand the test of time, ...just not what I would expect to find on an extension/ adapter piece to a hammer drill.

Heavy Duty
Works great with my Milwaukee SDS Max Rotary Hammer 2717.

Cheap Plastic Top - Looks like a knockoff
Poor quality and item description. Item looks like Taiwan knockoff. Not even worthy to be called Chinese Knockoff. Does not even have the Dewalt Brand stamped or painted in it like every other Dewalt tool. Replacement sent, but was the same cheap looking tool and not what is expected of the Dewalt Brand.

Yes! I am able to use my old sds+ bit with this
This is a must for anyone who has the sds max hammer drill but still has the sds+ bits. It's very well built and heavy. Not sure if it transfers all the power or if there is any loss of power but worked perfectly for me and my needs.

I don't know what the other reviews are in about, this SDS Plus to SDS Max adapter works perfectly fine, as advertised. Very robust. I used it in my big SDS Max hammer with some of my smaller SDS+ chipper bits. No problem at all in both drilling and hammer only mode. Very satisfied for the money (got it for cheap off Warehouse Deals. Probably the returned unit of one of the other reviewers.)

Getting bits into this thing was a bit of work. There is *no* slop whatsoever. So much so that it's almost *too much* of a tight fit. I got it in, and fortunately actually USING the tool wore it down just enough to make it less of an issue. Overall, it works well, and did what I needed it to do. It was just a pain to get it working the first time.

It's a bit strange. The adapter bit does not fit entirely into the drill. It works but it seems a bit odd that it does not fit exactly into the drill.
