One sided
Nice file but I thought it would be double sided

When using this sharpening file I find it useful to wear a jeweler’s magnifying headband
When using this sharpening file I find it useful to wear a jeweler’s magnifying headband. This allows one to see how your filing is effecting the edge that you are trying to sharpen. Another trick is to mark the edge with a Sharpie and then you can see which part of the edge you have filed. Using a lubricant will make the filing go quicker. To me, the folding handle seems like a gimmick. I think it just makes the file more wobbly and more delicate. I would prefer that the file did not have any moving parts. They could send it with a fixed handle and a simple sheath. It would be less likely to break. I really don’t have any need to be carrying a file around in my pocket. I’m not that finicky than I need to sharpen the edge midway through a project. For what it is, I feel the file a somewhat overpriced.

Great file, cheap handle
The diamond file itself is great, as expected from DMT. But, the folding plastic handle is cheap and flimsy; not the quality expected from DMT. However, you can improve the handle by adding a 5.5-inch length of one-inch heat shrink tubing (not shrunk). This keeps the handle from wobbling from side to side while sharpening, and provides a better grip. Not all nominally one-inch heat shrink is exactly the same size. Try different pieces or brands of tubing until you find one that fits snuggly over the handle. Four stars with this modification; three stars without.

Great ;little sharpening tool
I bought several of the sharpening files - ie one moderately rough and one fine. I basically use them to sharpen garden tools. Often garden tool blades are hard to get to but the file makes sharpening a breeze. They fold up nicely when not in use, are easy to clean (I use an old toothbrush) and extremely durable. I highly recommend the product.

great for sharpening
I use this and the fine grit folding file to sharpen various drill bits as well as router bits. The thin metal substrate is strong enough to be able to exert some pressure without deforming. All DMT diamond products last longer if moistened with water while using. Use Bar-Keepers Friend and a fine toothbrush to clean them. Very long lasting. No need to exert a lot of pressure with diamond abrasives - easy does it.

It's not like the DMT fine file
I thought this sharpener was round like the DMT fine file. It's not. It's flat like a table knife. So it's more like a sharpening stone than a sharpening steel.

DMT FFF Diafold Diamond Flat Folding File Fine
The diamond coating is only applied to one face of the file. After use some of this coating seems to have come off. Not very impressed.

Seems to be wearing down very quickly
I paid the extra, for the dmt brand with an expectation that it would last longer than the cheaper alternatives. Forever after just a free uses the tip of the file has written smooth. I'm struggling to see how this is the worth the must higher price then similar products.
