Good quality, easy to learn
This was easy to learn & once I got the hang of it I found it very relaxing. Put aside perfectionism: the finished towel will look lovely even if your stitches are not all the same. The kit comes with plenty of thread and the various needles and thimbles allow you to try different ways to work so you can make mistakes without worrying you won't have enough thread to finish. I like the leather thimble, yes it is tight and made my finger sore at first but soon stretched to fit quite well. I love the needles! They glide through the cloth with ease. I've tried other needles but none are as nice to use. Once finished I use the towels to wash dishes, clean counter & table and so far they have held up well, plus they dry quickly. At first I thought the price might be a bit high but all of the contents are of excellent quality and will last a good long time.

Great Way to Start out with Sashiko
I just received this kit and I have to say that while "MtnMona" definitely has the right to their point of view, some of the points are in my humble opinion greatly exaggerated.Sashiko needles come in different needle length options and serve different purposes. Short needles are the easiest to control, so for a complete beginner, these are perfect. Shorter needless are also great for stitching along curved lines. Long needles are better for stitching straight lines. With regards to the thimbles - they are not "toys" and very sturdy. Where MtnMona says, "The one tin one, looks to be adjustable but I am afraid if I try to open it will break" . . . . . it is adjustable and it is sturdy and does not open easily. This kit is perfect for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money to see if they like this art form. And no I do not work for the individual selling this kit.

Great starter kit with a good selection of materials to play with
I discovered sashiko while looking up techniques for mending clothes. I watched some videos and played around with it a little bit on my own using regular embroidery floss but decided to give one of these kits a try to practice the specific needle-technique more. I'm halfway through my first dishcloth now and I absolutely love it. The instructions take a little thinking to understand their translation but it's not too bad, and if you're super stuck there are hundreds of good YouTube videos to check out with a simple search. Most importantly, this kit gives you some great starting materials. I really like the Japanese-style thimbles, Ive started using them sometimes for my regular embroidery as well. The loooove the specialty sashiko thread, and this kit gives you tooons so I've already started incorporating some sashiko into other projects. All in all, a fantastic starter package to play with and learn!

thin synthetic fabric
This is a very thin synthetic fabric, not the best unless you have a lot of experience.Otherwise, very nice kit.

so relaxing and fun
I've bought this kit several times. I love the way I feel when I'm working on one, it's very meditative and calming, and I can do it during work meetings to keep myself focused. it folds up and fits in my pocket, needle and thread and all, so I can bring it anywhere. and when I'm done, it becomes a great wash cloth or handkerchief or a thoughtful gift, and I can start a new one. great for ADHD as a fidget activity.

Nice Way to Get Started on Sashiko
I priced the individual pieces in this kit and realized that this was a great deal, the perfect way to get started in Sashiko while I see if I enjoy this needle art. The kit arrived in two days and everything was nicely packaged. The instruction sheet is limited, but there are plenty of free online resources for instructions.

Small thimbles
Nice beginner set BUT thimbles were made far too small. Will need to buy new elastic to fix them.

Lovely kit for a beginner
This is a lovely collection of tools and projects for a beginner. It comes with everything you need except scissors and includes a translation of the Japanese language instructions. Thanks for putting this together. My only quibble is that it seems to include way more thread than you need (I’ve done two of the three patterns so far and I’ve only used up one skein of thread), but I’m sure I’ll find a use for the rest of it. :)
