For best results, read directions. Super Quiet!
I love this rowing machine! I searched long and hard, review after review, and I'm so glad this is the one I picked. I'll start off by saying that I have Not tried the app, so I have no report on that. If I do try it, I'll try to post an update here. But the app was not among my needs for purchase. Read the assembly directions. When attaching the seat, it's Very important that you get the seat And the stem facing correctingly in order for the sensor to work. The directions tell you how, so Read Them. I'm a DIY person so directions are not my thing, but you've got to swallow that pride in order to get accurate experience of a quality product. It's easy enough to assemble, you just need to know about things like the sensor and which parts go where. Tools and parts was SO easy, I wish Every manufacturer did this. They're all nicely labeled and separated in wrapping (pictured), so there's no reasonable way you can accidentally throw them away with the box. Pedals are in the one smaller box inside product packaging. Only downside to packaging is that there are no spare parts. But it's organized so well, you shouldn't need extras. About the only thing the instruction booklet doesn't tell you, is how to increase tension. Fortunately the little knob is pretty self explanatory, and the booklet covers just about everything else. The machine is so super easy to use, my 12 yr old can come in and use it with no problem. Just look up videos for proper posture. I can't say enough how remarkably quiet this machine is! There's sound, sure. But I can workout on this machine while watching a movie and the sound does Not interrupt the movie at all. So even a lazy day binge watching shows still gets a workout. I also have super sensitive hearing, and remarkably this machine doesn't aggravate that. Biggest con, it's a heavy machine and despite being manufactured to be moveable, it's not without some effort. I have a tiny space, but usually it's just easier to leave it out than try to maneuver it. Especially since I use it daily. The directions tell you how to make it more portable, but don't be surprised when you have to use a little muscle both ways - mostly when lining up the holes just right to insert the stabilizing pin. Keep this in mind during original assembly too. It's not a feather. Also, the velcro on the footstraps don't go far enough to tighten around bare feet very well. So unfortunately you'd have to wear shoes to get the most out of those. But it's probably only an issue when you're going full speed and need your feet secure. If you're a beginner starting out slow, it's probably not as crucial. But do what's safest for you and your comfort and expertise level. Overall I couldn't be more happy with this machine. My friends and family can't shut me up about it. It's a great full body workout that doesn't interrupt the rest of your day. I have a tiny budget so this was a bit if a splurge. But it was still affordable and I'm so happy with my choice.

The Fitness Reality 1000 Plus is a Solid Rowing Machine
The rower is quiet even with the seat sliding back and forth against the metal bar it's quiet in my opinion. It could be that I associate that medal rubbing sound to the whoosh of water in a water rower which I found pleasant when using water rowers. I am not an athlete so this rower is good enough for me. I can feel the changes in tension and some are challenging for me. I feel I get a good workout with the rower. It is the perfect size for the space I have for it. It feels sturdy and durable. Since I learned that folding the rower for storage may increase the risk of pinching the wires that connect the seat to the console, I won't fold it. The only negative about this rower is how low to the ground it is. I tried the app and though I think it would be nice to have, I'm not going to subscribe to get what are in my opinion basic metrics. I can see charging for the workout videos but if I'm not mistaken you don't get access to strokes per minute without paying for the app's subscription. Additionally, there are so many ads. If you are not careful, you'll be clicking on some ad rather than your workout results- frustrating. Cost wise, apps ends up costing more than the exercise equipment over the long run. I'll just have to find another way. I wanted the Avion rower but couldn't see paying for the subscription to get the on screen training motivators (arcade games) I thought would be cool. I'm not going to do that for this rower either but I did think I'd be able to track my metrics with the free portion of the app but that does not seem to be the case. I would recommend this rower to someone who wants a rower to help the get and stay fit and is okay without all the bells and whistles an app subscription may provide. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Great machine, quiet and does its purpose
I like this rower and definitely recommend it, BUT with a few caveats. First, the good things. 1. This rower is quiet. I mean DEAD SILENT. I don't know what experience the prior reviewer had with it or maybe I have hearing loss but it is barely audible. A lot quieter than a treadmill, bike or moderate volume television. 2. Assembly was so easy. ALL tools are included. I read the instructions word for word because I'm slow at constructing and I still had this thing built in half an hour. Font waste money having Amazon assemble. 3. LCD screen is easy to see, even without my glasses. It displays strokes at the top and then lets you toggle between displaying calories, meters or time. Meters or time functions are the most valuable. 4. The cable utilizes a thick nylon cord as opposed to the thinner cables at most gyms. It makes for a cleaner catch and drive with less "bounce" on the return phase. 5. Resistance settings allow for a wide range of strengths. I expected to max out the resistance setting but was pleasantly surprised to only set it to a 6 out of a total 14. Rowers of all ability can use this machine and have a lot of room to progress or do graded exercises or HIIT Sprint progressions. So what is neutral about the rower? I know most people might be persuaded to buy this model over others because it shows some different upper body exercises you can do. Just know, you can do those exercises on any rower, you DO NOT need this model. The only special feature of this machine that facilitates doing resistance training are the 2 foot pads at the front of the machine. For a beginner I can see this being potentially helpful but I am a former competitive powerlifter and didn't find the pad placement to be ergonomically correct for my height, stance preference or pelvic/trunk alignment. I also didn't find the movement of the extra exercises to be smooth. Theoretically the movement should feel similar to using a cable machine, but it was jerky and awkward and I struggled to do a curl at a 1 resistance due to friction of the nylon cord on the machine. This machine simply doesn't replace cable or free weight based resistance training and if that is your goal go buy a quality set of resistance bands and a kettlebell. However, that wasn't the selling point for me anyways. Even without the extras, this machine is worth the price tag and does it's primary purpose (rowing) with excellence. This machine folds up. Sort of. It folds in half and takes up less space on the ground but more space vertically. For those with dedicated exercise space this won't matter but for those hoping to fold and stow away, make sure your stow space is 4 feet squared and then another 6 feet high. But again, this was not a selling point for me so I don't care. I think it stows rather easily. So why only 4 out of 5 stars? The app is useless. It doesn't sync half the time. In order to get an accurate kcal estimate you really need to be calculating based off of the MET equivalent of the exercise and your weight in kg. There is no way of manually inputting your weight into the rower, meaning the kcal estimate that displays on the machine itself is not accurate. Since I have been unable to sync my workouts with the app I can't speak to the accuracy of kcals displayed on the app. This doesn't affect me because I utilise a fit bit plus manual weight-based MET equations to calculate kcals burned and rarely rely on machines for this. But if you're new to exercise and are hoping this rower shows you accurate calorie expenditure, don't hold your breath. The wheels are really not wheels. If you have to stow and move this machine often, it doesn't roll very well. Now the big downside for me: PIVOT PEDALS. The pedals on this rower are only anchored in one spot, meaning they pivot around an axis as you push into your feet to drive. There is a bar on the bottom to stop the pedals from rotating fully back, but it's placement is just a bit too posterior for my liking. This could be a pro for some people who have limited ankle mobility and need to be able to have more space to plantar or dorsiflex the foot in order to avoid strain. But for most rowers I feel like this is a con. For me personally it pulls a lot of the torque off my hip extensors and glutes and translates it into my anterior calf muscles and results in overall weaker movements. I solved this by placing a rolled towel under the foot pedals on each side so that I can drive down into the heel without the pedals rotating. Of this explanation doesn't make sense to you then don't worry about it because it likely won't affect you. But if you're someone who has used multiple rowers and has tried out rowers with pivot pedals, just know this rower has them. Overall I am happy with this purchase. My goal was to use this 3 times a week for rowing only HIIT and it is just great for that. Rowing is a wonderful total body, low-impact workout that can be done by individuals at all levels and ages so if you want to buy a rower and get started I think you'll be happy with this one.

Good unit for the price
Some of the reviews I read on this unit seemed a bit negative because this isn't a $1,000+ Concept2 that you might find at a gym. If that is what you are looking for, this may not be the perfect choice for you. I think this is a great unit for those who aren't as picky. Another complaint in the reviews is that it wouldn't track strokes: the first step in assembly is to be sure you've oriented the seat correctly so the magnet on the seat passes over the receiver on the track. I work at a desk all day, and I bought this unit specifically for cardio and work on my shoulders and arms. I am not in great physical condition, so I am not using the unit at its highest resistance levels. Also, I am not using the app that can be downloaded with the unit since I have another means of tracking my workouts. (The booklet mentions there's a free version for basic workout tracking in addition to a premium option.) Directions were clear and it was easy to put together. The instructions note that the way it measures distance rowed and calories burned is an average. It is very quiet. I can row with a TV or radio on and not have to turn up the volume. Stepping on the front stabilizers so that you can do things like a shoulder presses or bicep curls works pretty well, although I did find that I was adjusting my posture on some moves in response to the strap. Once I recognized I was doing this, I was able to correct myself. The unit does fold up into the footprint it advertises in one of the images. I will note that the way the track lines up with the base makes it a bit tricky to insert the safety pin when you fold or unfold it. Because I like the rest of the unit, I consider this a minor inconvenience. I've only been using it a short time, so I have no comments on the longevity or wear of the unit. I would definitely recommend this for someone who is looking for something compact that will provide a decent workout.

A stealth and silent rowing force to be reckoned with! GLAD I purchased.
Being in quarantine, I needed a machine that can be easy on my feet ( past broken ankles and lis franc injury) and found this beauty. The seat HAD to be comfortable and I had read that it was comfy, somehow my but has pointy pelvic bones and they hurt me if I sit a long time so I always need extra padding. Due to quarantine, lockdowns and staying up, I am having tons of problems sleeping and I know that working out is a necessity. I need to lose about 85 lbs. while remaining safe at home (a bad neighborhood unfortunately) and get my sleeping patterns in order. Working out always eases anxiety and my seasonal depression, plus I'll look great and get healthy. I took a while deciding on something that had great reviews and be at under $300 budget while not lacking on quality and reliability. I have Amazon Prime so I didn't pay for shipping and got a good discount through amazon fulfillment for some minor shipping defects on the outside box so I jumped at the chance to save money, as I usually do. When I finally got the Rower it came in a huge double layered box with no real defects on the box at all so that was a real bonus. My BF helped me put it together in under 30 minutes and said it was easy to put together. I sat on it and it glided so nice and smooth, which felt really nice. Once I put on my shoe straps securely I started rowing and it was super quiet. I am a night owl, so I can work out at 3 am if I choose and not wake up the BF. The rower was amazingly low impact but I can feel the workout doing its job because I was starting to sweat, all while watching TV and Blogs. The quality and workmanship of the Rower is definitely top-notch. It looks like a machine you would use at the gym, only its mine and I don't have to share it. I have not played with the Bluetooth functions and will do that soon and update this review. Please, don't skimp on these machines, this is the one to get and its not hard on the feet and fixes posture and gives a great overall workout. I have it leaned on my wall, it is very tall about 8' and I am petite and can easily put it back up with its wheels, it is not heavy or rattly. Very happy with my purchase.

Happily Surprised
I wasn’t expecting much in terms of the row counter. There were so many reviews that said it didn’t work ... surprise ... mine did! I don’t have internet at my home, being in the middle of nowhere, so I have no idea how the cloud fitness would work. The unit was fairly easy to put together, maybe 45 minutes. Would have been less if I didn’t make a couple mistakes and have to back track. The tension works awesome. I use anywhere between a 6-8 depending on my workout. It’s pretty quiet. I can watch the tv without the volume turned up. I keep it in our guest room. As you can see, I don’t have a ton of space, but there’s just enough to walk around it. I’m confident once we do have guest over that we can fold it and tuck in a corner or closet with ease. I have a very bony butt and my tail bone is usually the first to want me to stop. I did buy a foam seat pad that’s about 1.5” thick. I put it on right away but it didn’t feel right with the alignment of my legs. My butt felt too high. So I removed it and was surprised how comfortable the row seat is. I can do 80% of my workout without having to make major adjustments with the seat. Again, this is my issue, not the machines. For the price ... I’m thrilled! The joke in the family is: I bought the row machine, my husband bought a Lazy Boy. I kid you not! 🤣

Great Entry Level Rower
TL;DR -- great first rower for those looking to get in shape, a touch lacking for experienced users. I purchased this to help augment my existing fitness routine. I swim three days a week, lift twice a week, and cannot run from a recurring injury. I decided adding a rower made sense, and when this one came on sale I went for it. In terms of assembly, this was the easiest anything I've ever assembled. Seriously. Even the way the parts are packaged make this simple to put together, and should take 20-30 minutes tops, including unboxing. Once built, it's a decent looking, sturdy rower. I definitely push its load limit at 230 pounds, but this thing doesn't flinch or flex under load. As far as collapsing or moving the rower, I wish you could fold it first and then move it easily, but the geometry seems to limit the wheels in the folded position. It still moves, just not as well as when extended. Now for actual performance: It's fine-ish. That's not a bad thing, but don't think for one minute you're getting a high end water rower. Like other magnetic resistance units, it's limited in terms of how strong the resistance will get. I have to max it out for HIIT reps, and even then it's not as heavy a pull as I'd like. I can cruise at level 12 (of 14) for long distance work comfortably, if that better explains things. The handle is comfortable, as is the seat. Surprisingly so, actually, as I tend to get saddle sore on stationary bikes and rowers. The rollers guide smoothly and are fairly quiet, though we'll see how that holds up over time. I did notice one review and it's comment about how the final heel position is too deep, and I echo that feedback. The simple fix from the manufacturer side might be a more built up footpad in the heel, or some kind of selectable add-ons to make it more tailorable. That said, two towel rolls and duct tape have it where I want it. The monitor is mostly pointless, as the sensor is just a photoelectric eye on the glide rail. Every row is ten meters, which isn't helpful, and who knows what the benchmark is for calories. Just use the timer and you'll be fine. Lastly, the ability to do other movements with the rower is actually fun! No, it's not a cable machine or resistance bands, but you can hit the upper body decently. The lateral shoulder raises are difficult, but any bilateral movement is fine. I'd also add to the provided options the ability to do bent over rows and, if you set up right, pull overs (place your upper back on the seat when it's by the handle). If you're space limited and looking for one thing that will get you in better shape, I'd say this might be all you need. It's good enough at what it does to improve fitness, but at some point you'll want a more robust rower or better weight training equipment. As an ancillary tool, it's fine as well. But if you're a fitness regular, don't expect this to be your primary equipment.

Great rower and price
The product came packaged in a box that said "team lift" but it's not too heavy to drag around alone. The instructions are clear, and the parts are all packaged separately from one another, and they are grouped and labeled for each step they are used on to make assembly even easier. It's very quiet and has felt smooth so far. I jumped on right away after I downloaded the app, I only plan to use the free aspects to track and record my sessions. It has a display but I used my phone with the app timing my 30 minute session. The app shows your total strokes, current avg strokes per minute, avg split time, distance, time, calories. It has multiple levels of resistance. The various other pulls they suggest like curls and raises feel a little odd to me as I've never used a row machine like that. It's a tough curl or lateral delt raise with zero resistance on the negative back down. Maybe I will like these other exercises more with time, but as for the seated rowing, this thing is great. I fold it up and keep in in the corner void I had behind my recliner. I slide my recliner out of the way, unfold, and watch tv while I row. I bought the 2 year protection plan just in case, but so far, I would say just buy it if you're thinking about it. Nothing wrong with treating yourself to some health benefits.

Worth every cent
I've had this about a month now using it roughly 3-4 times a week...so far it works great! Does its job VERY quietly and has a number of resistances. Great piece of equipment to fit in with your routine and get creative with. Very easy to assemble and well packaged. Bluetooth works fine, although I've only used it twice...not really why I bought it, just a bonus. Remember this is not a $2000 machine, so don't have the same expectations as you would at a gym. In saying that, it is a great little machine for a great price! Personally, I love it!

i moved house and left my treadmill and cycle machine in the old house. For the new house i wanted to by sth compact and stylish also 1 item but you can do more exercise more muscle work. So this product is really nice. Assembly is really easy just follow the instructions as i did with my 4 years old son :). Bluetooth connection u need to try couple of time keep pressing 3-4 sec to the button while its flashing its searching. At the end it is nice, stylish and do its job and i am really happy.
