Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe

Great product, but a little startled by Amazon's shipping
This book collects the 4 issues of the amazing, but way too short saga of Deadpool killing off virtually every hero and villain in the Marvel Universe in his quest to find his creators and end all of (fake) existence. Spectacular artwork, great story...a few WEAK deaths for uber-popular characters. All in all, outstanding book. That being covered, I'm sort of disappointed in whoever packaged this up for shipping. I don't order comics online, because I prefer to keep them as mint as possible for collecting (yes, nerd here...hello?). However, I thought I'd be safe with a trade paperback. The person (or machine) that boxed this for me clearly has some spatial observation problem and thought that it would fit into a box significantly smaller than the book itself. Meaning about two inches at the top of my book were curled up the sidewall of the box, resulting in several creases across the cover. I don't usually complain about such things, and Amazon has never really given me cause to...but in this case since I've elected to accept the item instead of asking for a replacement I felt I'd vent a bit here.Once again, a definite 5-star product, regardless of my shipping woes.

Catching up on my reading
Snapped my humerus in half and needed surgery. I didn't want to watch TV the whole time so I decided to catch up on some reading. I live in the middle of no where and there isn't a comic shop anywhere. I was a comic addict before I got married. I guess this means I fell off the wagon. Oh well. Funny and great story. The book arrived quickly and in great condition. It helped while I was on the mend.

Deadpool goes bananas
This comic is pretty good. The story and art are up to snuff. I would think the magic heroes/villains would have a better shot at stopping wade. Overall enjoyable.

What if?
Awesome series. This is the best of the what if multiverse. Deadpool killed it in this one. Sad it’s over!

"...Maybe roast some marshmallows as all existence burns down around me."
*CAUTION: A FEW MILD SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO CARE*In an alternate universe overseen by the Watcher, a mad scientist named Psycho Man breaks Deadpool's mind to create an army of broken souls but what he really does is unleash Deadpool's rampaging murderer side. As Deadpool embarks to kill all the superheroes who think he's loony or crazy, his first targets are the Fantastic Four. Utilizing Hank Pym's Pym Particles, Arcade's deathtraps, and even Puppetmaster's power, along with his own, he takes down the entire Marvel roster as well as the universe itself! So, Deadpool pulls a Punisher and tries to kill everyone. His crafty nature allows him to utilize other weaponry but watching Deadpool slaughter the X-Men, Fantastic Four, the Avengers, etc. was very fun. Wolverine's death was a bit lackluster though. Wolverine is "killed" once by Deadpool but comes back only to have his head cut off. However, Deadpool has his head blown off a few times in the comic and still comes back so I doubt Wolverine died. The references Wade makes to the Punisher's similar comic were funny and the ending was pretty clever and funny but overall, the story's just lacking. The art by Dalibor Talajic looks good and the writing for Deadpool's dialogue is well done butCullen Bunn's story is lacking. This is no Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe story here. Having Taskmaster track down Deadpool was a nice touch too but his demise was another letdown. The book is a softcover and slightly smaller than other softcovers being 9.9x6.4in. The paper's cheap and flimsy and you get textless covers, a script and sketches, and a bunch of cover art sketches as well. The extras are there but the make of the book is shoddy. Overall, it's a fun read but don't spend a bunch of money on it.

If you love Deadpool and the Marvel Universe
If you love Deadpool and the Marvel Universe, you'll love this.Playing off Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe this runs Deadpool through the same gambit of killing everyone. The plot is extremely interesting and while some reviewers claim w/o spoilers that the ending 'has been done' ... sorry it's a great spin. I always enjoy 'what if' type stories, and it's interesting to imagine how who would fight/kill who. This book skimps a bit on the how who would kill who. There's a few deaths off screen where we don't quite see how it's done. They get some Omega levels out of the way for reasons. And even that isn't really a strong criticism, as they're limited in space and time and in some instances imagination is more interesting. And they DO cover plenty of the deaths and exactly how Deadpool goes about it. What Deadpool is wearing during his fight with Wolverine still can make me laugh so hard I practically cry. This is actually one in a trilogy. The ending of the trilogy IMHO is meh. I enjoyed this book the most, which is self contained and you can walk away. I'd recommend the other two only if you're a huge Deadpool fan, there's plenty in it to make it worthwhile.I'm limited with physical space so I'm very picky about what physical books I keep. This one is a keeper and one I've already reread to my enjoyment.
