This two-piece saddle pipe fitting clamps onto the pipe, and is secured with adhesive (not included) and bolts (included), to create a branch connection with one outlet. The Iron Pipe Size (IPS) saddle sits over a hole that has been drilled into the pipe to create the new outlet and the outlet is sealed with a buna-nitrile (also called Buna-N) O-ring. Buna-nitrile has high tensile strength; abrasion, tear, and compression set resistance; and compatibility with a variety of fluids such as petroleum and hydrocarbons. The saddle clamp bolts are zinc-plated carbon steel for strength and resistance to corrosion. The branch outlet has a female socket connection for sliding over the end of a male pipe or fitting, which provides a smooth bore for enhanced flow. This schedule 40 (standard wall) fitting is made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) for corrosion resistance, high strength, and less weight than fittings made from metal.
