Listen buddy, I am not skilled at anything, let alone home improvement type things. And I made a shelf with these. Granted, it's ugly AF and the only screws I could find were a little too long so they kind of poke out on the top but it's all good, I call this thing "murder-danger shelf" for those who like to stay organized but also live dangerously. But honestly, for my purposes the stabby, protuberance does not at all impact the functionality for my needs. I'm sure you're asking in what way would a shelf that can cause you bodily harm at any moment not be an inconvenience to a normal human. Don't worry about it. But these little flappula, retractor doo-dads are just so handy and easy. Awesome value.

I would have gave this five stars except if you fold the brackets to where the shelf is down and go to put it back up the bracket doesn't fall in place like it should. You have to lift the shelf up and move the bracket over a little so it aligns correctly. Not hard to do but it should be noted. I don't really care though because my shelves are going to be for storage and will not be folded down. As far as the screws that come with these, yes they are crap. However I am not taking any stars away because I already knew before I bought these brackets or any other bracket that I was going to buy my own set of screws. Keep the screws that come with them and use them to drill into the board to keep it in place. They work perfect for that. The smaller boards that I have are 4 ft wide and 1 foot depth and are nicely supported with 2 brackets. The longer boards are 6 ft wide and 1 foot depth and are supported by 4 brackets. There is much more room for weight to be added to what I already have on the shelving I just haven't had time to do that yet. The only reason I got shelving that is 1 foot deep is so the brackets will not have to hold the extra weight of a bigger board. This will allow me to put heavier items on the shelves which is what I need. For the price these are pretty good. Hope this helps, and installation is not hard.

Used it to make extra cabinet space. Pretty damn sturdy, but the release tabs are kinda touchy and easily bent if you don't pay attention

Having the same issue as some other people with the bracket not fully closing, and I can't figure out why. Screws that came with it breaks very easily.

Would not buy these again. They are very difficult to install. They snap down way to fast and I'm scared little ones (or grown up) fingers are going to get pinched. Brackets didnt fold flush when in the down postition. We kept adjusting holes and bracket to no avail. Finally took a pair of pliers and bent bracket a little, now folds flush. Definitely wouldn't buy them. Only reason we aren't returning them is we already have holes in the wall/table top and don't want to have to rebuild table top or have extra holes in the wall. We'll just be vigilant and make sure fingers aren't in the way. Pass on buying these.

Screws that come in kit are junk. Snapped immediately. Thankfully I had my own. The brackets to not fold flat. I cannot figure out why. I tried to rearrange the screw pattern with no improvement. Very hard to get screws in at the hinge area as there is no real access. 300# rating is a joke. They were flexing at about 15#. No I do not recommend. I would not purchase again
